Chapter One

CHAPTER ONE ~~➞ "The Usual?"

Danielle's POV:

Groaning as the sound of her mother's soap operas filled the shop, quickly followed by the sound of her voice shouting out orders to whoever was in a listening distance. Danielle turned, looking at the clock next to her 7:35 AM.

Stretching, she got up and got out some clothes. checking to make sure that her mother was not upstairs she walked towards the bathroom. Knocking on the door.

When she got no answer Danielle walked back to her room not before straightening a picture of her sister and brother on the wall. The two were smiling playing in the sand. Uma had finished making a sand castle and Urson had just come out the water Danielle wasn't there, she simply had not been born and her mother Ursula was tanning. Meaning her absent father had taken the picture.

Moving back into her room Danielle pasted the trinkets and gems on her desk instead she focused on gathering on the items needed for her shower. Grabbing her: towel, hair cap, wash towel, seahorse shaped body soap (Which she had been given as a birthday gift when she was 4), a hairbrush and her toothbrush and walking back into the bathroom.

Turning on the shower Danielle waited until the water became cold knowing that the heat would only make her tired and grumpy. When the water had become cold enough she entered the shower shuddering at the freezing temperature before she started rubbing her body. The bubbles covered her body before quickly running down her bronze skin.

Taking off her hair cap she started washing her hair allowing the pleasant aromas to fill the bathroom. As quickly as she had got in she left wrapping a towel around her body as she brushed her long turquoise and black locks. Deciding to cornrow her hair into a pony tale she began her work. Grinning in success when the hairstyle looked good she grabbed her toothbrush and started the next process.

Whilst brushing her teeth she gathered her things into one place making sure she was ready to leave. Spitting out the minty liquid and brushing her hair once again while she still had time, Danielle left the bathroom, closing the door behind her. Quickly she walked back to her own room however she wasn't lucky enough to enter as she bumped into a certain someone. Ignoring all futile attempts at an apology she gathered her stuff getting back up looking up at the girl saying,

" It's okay Sam. I'm fine, are you okay? What are you even doing up here? Did Uma send you up here?"

You see Danielle had been prone to asking questions all the time. It was a habit she learnt from the earlier stages of her life and she couldn't shake it no matter how hard she tried.

"Sorry- Uma says your shift is starting in ten minutes but Hollie says she's gonna have a crew meeting. And I need some help in the kitchen. Rush hour is about to begin " Samantha Smee rushed.

Samantha Smee the isles fastest cook and an even better chef. A loyal member of The Lost Revenge and one of Danielle's closest friends. Samantha was the eldest out of the smee twins.

"Can you cover for me until I get down, I need to change. You can go to the meeting and tell me anything important. How's that sound?" The short girl asked as her friend's face calmed. She took that as a success and slowly made her way back to her room.

Ursula's fish and chip shop had no uniform policy, as long as you didn't affect the profits you were allowed to wear 'whatever the hell you can find' according to Ursuala. So she decided to wear a knee length white frock, with a tight black tank top on top, to finish she wrapped a turquoise bandanna along her head. Excluding the leather belt and her usually black heeled boots, the short girl was in her pirate uniform.

7:55AM the clock read as Danielle rushed down the stairs to clock in before 8, if she was late to her shift her mom would kill her. This was the start of the morning rush hour or as Danielle liked to call it the fun hours.

" Peanut you're here, you ready for the meeting?" The words were said in a strong Scottish accent, one that all the girls in the isle swooned for. This voice belonged to none other than Hollie Hook, the quartermaster of The Lost Revenge, Danielle's best friend and biggest role model.

"Hollie, I told you to stop calling me peanut. It's embarrassing," The short turquoise haired girl said. She paused. "I'm not going to the meeting. My shift starts in 2 minutes-"

Her eyes widened. She rushed past the blonde giant as she frantically searched for her key. The second she found it she clocked in, causing Hollie to shake her head and chuckle.

With a faint blush on her face she continued, "So my shift has started and it's rush hour, Sam needs a break and she can listen in to the meeting for me. Don't worry about me, I'll be fine. Speaking of food, has Sam made breakfast for the crew or am I doing that?" On Danielle's face was a simple true smile.

Hollie Hook, one of the deadly hook twins.  A true pirate at heart, she cold be cold and harsh when the time called for it, and could keep her own when it came to drinking. It was everything opposite of the younger pirate, yet she viewed the quartermaster as her best friend and biggest idol.

"I'll make you some pancakes, just the way you like 'em cause i know you didn't get breakfast from Sam even if she cooked for the crew." Danielle smiled at the older girl as she tied her apron and placed her hair up in a high ponytail.

"You know I can do your hair later, right Dani." Hollie said as she saw how messy the younger girl's hair was becoming, despite its recent wash. Hollie was brilliant at combing hair and despite her cold reputation she always found time to help the younger sea out.

"Thanks Hol! But I was thinking of having it out today. I'll make your pancakes now." And with that Danielle left her best friend and almost second sister.

Making pancakes was an easy task for Danielle. Though the kitchen was empty and she had many pots filled with porridge and pans frying bacon, eggs and the occasional hash brown she was in her element. The kitchen was simple to navigate and she found every ingredient for each meal with ease.

When she was confident she had prepared enough food for the crew and her mother's loyal customers she wiped her greasy hand and went out to take orders. This process continued for hours until, both the morning and lunch rush hours ended.

Before Danielle Stood Evalina Queen, a total badass and a princess. Daughter of the Evil queen and a true incantation of evil, yet Danielle had the biggest crush on her, to the point where the youngest Sea had memorised the princesses' lunch order.

"The usual?" Danielle asked with a small smile on her face.  She studied Eva for a short moment and she saw the older girl wearing a dark deep purple pencil skirt, with thick black boots, on her neck rested; a small ruby red heart shaped necklace. She wore black fishnet finger-less gloves, which allowed her purple amethyst jewelled ring. Not to mention she wore a black laced shirt, covered with a cropped leather puffed up sleeve jacket.

Danielle found Eva to be beautiful both inside and out, no matter how sadistic, sneaky and restless she acted out in public, the young Sea found her to be elegant.

"If you know me so well then what's my usual?" Evalina crossed her arm as she waited, running a hand through her blue hair, her brown eyes stared at the shorter turquoise haired girl with mock interest.

Danielle's smile widened as she happily recited Evalina's order. "The fish supreme sandwich with no mayo, and no tomatoes, but extra lettuce and a large side of chips with two small drinks; the chocolate milkshake and a regular soda. Which is always 5.95 and you always keep your change. That's your usual, sometimes you get the blueberry muffin to go but that's usually during the morning."

Evalina was shocked but said nothing as she processed the correct order, impressed she smiled, "Maybe you do know me well, I'll have that to eat in. You're not a bad waitress i guess."

Danielle chuckled as she got the order, throwing in an additional muffin for the sake of impressing Eva. "Here's your food, the muffin is free no catch." She smiled as she handed over the food and cleaned a chair to bring over to Evalina's table.

Quickly she went to the break and checked out taking her lunch break as she left Sam and her older sister Uma in charge.

"I'll be back I swear, I just want to eat for fifteen minutes, 20 max." She said to Uma who didn't look unhappy to be back on shift. Uma was taller than Danielle, she wore her turquoise and black hair in cornrows, which Hollie had braided for her with small beads in them. On top of her hair she wore her Captain hat. Uma wore a purple meshed top with a loose blue corset , their mother's golden necklace dangled above the corset below the corset was hidden by the apron she had just put on,  except for her short brown boot with a thick but small heel at the end.

Uma laughed at her sister as she saw Danielle's favourite regular customer, planning to tease her about it later.  "Go on, me and Sam can handle it from here, you can go on your break. Here take this."

Danielle took the plate her sister offered her and found herself heading towards Evalina's table slowly, "So I was thinking of how to get more customers here- no that's sounds stupid.  Hey Eva can I sit with yo- no too desperate. "

She froze. Quietly Danielle walked to the table embarrassed of how quickly she let herself overthink a simple interaction. She took a seat and sat in front of the puzzled blue haired girl. "Hi."

Evalina only raised an eyebrow as she studied the shorter turquoise and black haired girl, suspiciously she asked. "Why are you sitting here? I'm not apart of your crew or whatever."

The brown skinned girl blushed as she replied, "Well technically I can sit anywhere 'cause it 's my mom's shop but I wanted to talk with. You just seem cool. Beside I see the crew every hour of everyday, you're different."

Eva laughed a look of interest on her face as she spoke with the shorter. She was surprised with herself as she became immersed in the conversation and late for her booked manicure. But strangely enough the Queen wasn't mad with her talkative waitress but merely intrigued.

When Evalina left Danielle smiled and cleaned the table ready to finish the final hour of her shift, and excited for whatever it was the crew had planned for tonight. The hour passed by with slight teasing from Uma which Danielle ignored with a light hearted smile ever present on her face. The sister joked for the hour and on the occasion when they weren't joking around Danielle was getting the meeting details from Sam, making sure she was aware of the next task the Captain Uma, had set for her.

The very second the clock turned to 3, Danielle checked out having completed her shift she threw her apron in the storage bin and went looking straight for Hol. Her favourite Hook was nowhere to be found and no matter how many people she questioned the youngest Sea couldn't find the quartermaster.

Frustrated and disappointed Danielle went into the training room, with her sketchbook. Hoping to amuse herself she sat down and watched the crew spar with each other; some focused on the gunmanship, others prioritised their hand to hand combat skills while Harry Hook - Danielle's least favourite hook and Hollie's twin brother, was always training her skill with his blade.

While Danielle did enjoy drawing sketches of everyone fighting, she felt bored and left out of all of the action. Grabbing her word she walked up to Harry and asked him to spar. She had grabbed the only two fencing outfits they owned and threw one at the taller male.

"Come on Harry, let's spar. I'll beat you this time I'm sure of it." Danielle said with a bored yet determined looks on her face as Harry chuckled at her challenge. Danielle had never beaten him in a sparring match and though the rules were simple she had not once ever came close to beating him, which didn't help their relationship as Harry has a habit of being cocky about his victories.

Nevertheless Danielle was bored and determined to beat him, no matter how amusing he found her attempts. She placed the helmet on her face as she waited for his reply. Harry smirked at her enthusiasm accepting the challenge by saying, "I'd like to see you try Dan. Don't flake on me before the fun begins." He two put on his helmet and the pair took stance.

They circled each other. Steps, quick and calculated, yet risky. Neither pirate made a move watching the other with a focused gaze.  Then she saw it- an opening.

She struck him. But missed- leaving her chest defenceless for Harry's attack, she ducked; only just missing the sharp deadly tip of his sword. Thinking quick she swept his legs up catching him off guard as she  jumps back onto her feet, having the upper ground once more. "I'd say you're the one flaking on me Harry."

A she said that the crew slowly stopped fighting circling them to see the sparring match, the crowd was mixed in opinions as some of them wanted Danielle to win while others had their hearts set on Harry winning. Yet the sparring pair felt totally alone and submerged into their match.

Harry quickly jumped up as he met her blade. The swords clashed and clanged. Speaking volumes of the importance of the match. Slowly Danielle pushed Harry into a corner. She smiled. Ready to strike.

She parried his attack. Her chance clear. Success in her eyes, victory in her arms as she attacked his feet. Until he jumped and struck her chest. "You sure about that Dan?" He chuckled at his victory.

The crowd clapped at Harry's success, he smirked and bowed as Danielle's breathless face held nothing but clear disbelief. "I almost had you, how did you ..." But it was pointless Harry was too caught up in his victory to acknowledge her.

He only threw in a cocky and incredibly annoying comment, "I'm still stronger than you. Better let next time Sea."

With that Danielle was left alone on the sparring mat, catching her breath she shook her head- determined; twice as much as before to beat Harry no matter how many times she lost. She was proud of herself as she had lasted much longer than usual. Opting to take a quick shower, Danielle changed into regular clothing and continued her search for the quartermaster. After all she had a story to tell and some drawings to share.
