Chapter 2: Being an omega does not equal being weak
At the gate of the military school, groups of students gather together and faint whispers can be heard everywhere:
"Is he actually coming here?"
"I heard that if we can prove to be a great warrior, we can be his suitors!"
"I've never seen an omega before... how do you guys think he would smell like?"
"Shh!! If the Date hear you say that he might chop your head off!"
A week ago, Lord Date has personally came to the school with shocking news: On Tsurumaru's 16th birthday, the omega will visit the school to pick potential candidates himself. However, the male himself will have to be in the advanced classes, and they also need to defeat the omega in a duel as well.
"Beating an omega? Hah, easy peasy!!!"
"Don't be so arrogant, Mitsutada did say that Tsurumaru's win rate against him is 5 to 2, and you know how good that guy is!!!"
"That's just because they concede to him, there's no way an omega can beat an alpha!"
Apparently, most males in the military school still believe that omegas are just decorations and breeding tools. And it is exactly the reason why the whole Date clan was in a heated fight for an entire month:
"You can not go there! You won't know what may happen to you! They are a bunch uncultured, ungrateful bastards that may harm you or even... rape you!!!" Mitsutada lost his temper and almost yelled at his brother's face. He couldn't believe Tsurumaru actually came up with such a crazy idea. Kidnapping and force-marking is uncommon to be seen, yet the idea of it is familiar to almost every student in the school. With more than half of the students having the status of commoners, strange ideas spread like wildfire. They all want a luxury life of the nobles, yet not many want to work for it. Thus, those low-life disapointment dream of marriage with an omega of an old line, then live happily for thousands of year (Mitsutada would never say that most of them dream of Tsurumaru in front of Father, lest he switch the twins to another academy and wipe out their current school. Apart from being stylish, it seems like being over-protective also runs in the family).
"I can, and I will, if Father allow me to. Which, I believe you will, right Father?" Surprisingly, Tsurumaru was unnaturally calm even when towered by two angry and frustrated alphas "Besides, a lot of nobles like you," he poked at Mitsutada's ribcage "and even the royals study there as well. I promise to be by your side 24/24, so please don't be so dramatic, Mitsu-bou." He ended it with his signature cheeky grin, which started another agrument on Tsurumaru's attitude towards his own safety.
After a lot of ruckus, they finally agreed on letting him join Mitsutada and Ookurikara for a day, but Lord Date would also be there to supervise everything (Tsurumaru did protested, to no avail). He would be able to challenge some to a duel, but only if Mitsutada and Ookurikara allow him to. Direct contacts with any other males would be prohibited, including handshakes. No drinking and eating food that wasn't prepare by the chefs at home or tested by the twins beforehand.
Lots of rules on the not-to-do list for Tsurumaru, and such rules also apply to the students of the military school. No touching, no scenting, no offering food or drinks (unless they want the twins to have a legal reason to slice them in half). If any threat or insult direct toward the omega is heard then the speaker will face immediate punishment.
However, they are still hyped up - it's not everyday that you can see a living omega, right?
"He's here!! Get ready!!!"
Even when it's only 6 in the morning, almost everyone has come to classes. Heads poking out from every windows and corners, gingerly waiting for the famous omega.
A black bulletproof car pulls up in front of the school, and the Tsurumaru joyfully jump off it. He is dressed in his battle armor: white bulletproof haori, some simple steel armor and a traditional white kimono with gray obi underneath. His boots are black military boots just like his brothers', and he has black fingerless gloves on his hands. Instead of wearing tons of jewelry like other omegas, he only wear a few golden chains and a necklace woven by gold threads.
Simple, but breath-takingly beautiful.
Tsurumaru moves with the elegance of a crane, swiftly dances from one place to another, never stray to far from his brother but never stick too close. His haori flutter around him like wings ready to take flight, soft and pure like feathers from an angel. His sword, also clad in white, hanging harmlessly by his side; but if trouble comes, it would be the first to take down foes for its owner.
Both alphas and betas drool over Tsurumaru's beauty, their hungry eyes glue on his hips and legs. The urge to get closer, to scent him, to mark him is so strong that not everyone can resist it. A tall, broad alpha jumps down from the 2nd floor and leaps toward Tsurumaru, only to be sent flying backwards:
"Get rid of him." Two security guards arrive and drag the tumbling alpha outside. After a few check-up to make sure Lord Date hasn't broken any bones of his (not like he's aiming for that or anything), he'll be sent back homes and his profile will have a record of acting impulsively in front of an omega.
Date Masamune put on his General face and scan the area in front of him, his three sons standing behind him:
"Listen carefully: I will not tolerate any of this," his hand gestures to the place a half-dazed alpha was a moment ago "nor will my sons. The next time I see this happen, I'll personally put you in jail. Understood?"
Whispers traded and some wearily nod their head, unable to keep their eyes on Tsurumaru now that his father is blocking the way. Clearly, Lord Date is not sastified with it:
"UNDERSTOOD?"
"YES SIR!!!!" The students act solely on reflex, but it is enough. After reminding Tsurumaru, Mitsutada and Ookurikara about the rules, Date Masamune moves to the principal's room. He'll have a clear view of the school from there, and a wide range of students' files are available up there. Before Tsurumaru manage to have a duel, he'll keep himself busy with those.
"Where do you want to go first?" Smiles Mitsutada "We all have a free pass this morning to escort you around, so don't be worry."
"Taikogane is staying in the North Wing." Ookurikara suggests. Since the boy is still young, he stays with other students at the school dorm and only return home on holidays. Although Mitsutada and Ookurikara often meet up with him for lunches, Tsurumaru rarely get a chance to talk with his youngest brother.
"Really? Then let's go, I can't wait to see Sada-chan!!!"
------------------------------------
The trio spend half the morning in the North Wing, then proceed to move to the South Wing where the twins study. They do not join any classes, but they pass by some overjoyed training groups. The males are so eager to prove their abilities that they end up making themselves a fool. However, the female students just snort and ignore Tsurumaru completely. To women in general, omegas are witch-like creatures that can steal a man's soul - socializing with them would be just like joining a group of wizardry and witchcraft.
Just 30 minutes before lunchtime, a male student appear in front of Tsurumaru. Judging from his look, he should be around 19, and his courteous bow indicates that he might come from an upper-class family:
"Ichigo Hitofuri, the heir of the Awataguchi clan." He pauses a little, "I suppose we have met before, Mitsutada-dono, Ookurikara-dono." The raven hair alpha acknowledges the other one with an incline of his head, while the tanner of the two remains stoic and impassive. "Forgive me for being impolite, but I believe you look even more ravishing than what they say, Tsurumaru-dono."
For a second, Tsurumaru is so shocked that he can't reply. The Awataguchi clan is no stranger to the nobles and the riches. And the one so-called heir, who's just blatanly teased him right here, in public, is not just any grandchild of an extremely wealthy merchant. He is the sole child of a prince and the merchant's first daughter, which is more than enough to qualify him as a Prince.
"Ah... yes... it's our honor to meet you, Prince Ichigo." Just because the Date clan is familiar with all the noble bloodlines and strong clans, doesn't mean Tsurumaru is comfortable with all of them. Having a conversation with royals are just way too complicated for his liking, so he always tries skip as much as possible. And no, he doesn't want to be court by a prince, he'd rather live alone and suffer the heat by himself than to join some kind of sick harems, thank you very much.
Even if he noctice the strange innotation in Tsurumaru's sentence or not, Ichigo does not comment on it. Instead, he puts on his signature Prince Charming smile and politely asks for a duel, to which Tsurumaru gleefully accept.
Within minutes, news spread like wildfire across the school. Students and teachers alike quickly fill in the stadium where the duel is about to happen. The alphas roar their lungs off, throwing cheers and insults together, creating a mix of jealousy and pride altogether. Most of them wish to be on the stadium instead of the coban blue hair alpha, but seeing an omega being dominated is still pleasurable.
"Oh, don't worry, I'll teach them a lesson soon enough." Despite the fact that the twins keep asking him to decline the invitation - it's not too late, they say, you still haven't stepped on the stadium yet - Tsurumaru does not feel pressured at all. 'Dominated, huh,' he grins to himself, 'let's see who'll be tamed today then.'
The omega jumps onto the stage, light like a feather. His haori moves with him, creating the illusion of a magnificent crane taking flight. Standing against Ichigo, Tsurumaru looks smaller and more delicated, like a porcelain doll needed to be preserved behind glass doors. However, the alpha's aura does not affect him at all - the crane still look chilled and relaxed as usual.
Ichigo moves to an offensive stance, the wordlessly attack his opponent. Even if he seems to be jesting before, he does not dare to doubt Tsurumaru's talent in sword-fighting. Fast as he move, his opponent just laugh and move aside, dodging his attack. From then on, Tsurumaru dances around Ichigo, occasionally parrying with his scabbard.
The crane's battle dance continues on for almost half an hour before coming to a halt. A sudden twist of Ichigo's sword cuts a line in Tsurumaru's sleeve, making the crowd go wild. Tsurumaru just shrugs it off, tear the dangling piece of cloth apart, and finally, unsheath his sword:
"That's a nice move, but still not enough to surprise me!!!"
Swords clatter and clothes torn apart, the dance goes on again. By the time the lunch bell rang, both of the duelists are sweaty and half naked, although Ookurikara is quick to cover his brother with a huge towel. Hungry alphas high on pheromenon and the lust for battle start to eye Tsurumaru dirtily, and some begin to throw insults at Ichigo for being unable to defeat an omega. However, Ichigo still manages to keep his cool and asks for a rematch another time, to which Mitsutada gracefully avoids answering.
It only take a lunchbreak for all the recordings of the duel to spread to outsiders. And before he could know, Tsurumaru has already become the idol of all omegas, the wet dream of lower-class alphas and the prized trophy for upper- class ones.
Skillful, graceful and independent. Like a rare porcelain doll, need to be pampered in jewels and gold, but also like a steel blade, familiar to the heat of fire. Such an omega would be a hard-earned prize, but the question is: Would the reward worth all the troubles?
"Oh, I dare say this: The crane is worth the price. Don't you all agree, Kogitsunemaru, Ishikimaru?"

Guess who said that XD
