Chapter 27 - The Truth Untold

...

Yoongi's mind was swirling. The information he found out only a day ago was massive and he was at a loss how to deal with it. Of course, his first impulse would be to report it, believing in the system and its justice. However, deep down he knew that this won't work, especially because some of the people who are on the top of their chain of command were deeply involved with the illegal dealings, taking bribes and doing favours with the criminals.

Yoongi was stressed about that. He wasn't really surprised by some of them, they were just shady to him from the start, but when he found out about a few others that he once had a good opinion of, he was really disappointed and angry.

Moonbyul acted the same, she was outraged and worried just like he was.

-'' This isn't good Yoongi-ah.'' – She said after they discover the real content of that USB file and why Park Jimin's head was on the line for it. – '' This is bad on so many levels.''

Yoongi closes his eyes for the moment as he sighs. – '' I know.''

She looks at him. – '' What are we going to do?'' – She asks. – '' We can't just give USB.''

-'' We have to, or otherwise, there would be a lot of casualties.''

-'' But they would get away!'' – She hisses in a hushed voice. She was beyond annoyed.

-'' No they won't.'' – Yoongi says, determent. – '' We just need to find the way how to deal with them without endangering Park Jimin and Jungkookie, now that he is involved with him.''

Moonbyul huffs. – '' Silly boy.''

Yoongi gave a tired chuckle. – '' I was just waiting for that to happen, to be honest.''

-'' What? Getting in trouble?''

-'' No.'' – Yoongi gently shakes his head. – '' Although that too. No, I meant about getting involved with Park Jimin again. These two had history and it's not over yet.''

-'' Hmm...'' – She just hums, not commenting further on the subject. – '' So what are we to do? We need to report it to our superiors. They will know that we are involved if we hold on to it for long.''

-'' I'm thinking.''

They were silent for some minutes. Yoongi stood and walked around the office, arms crossed with one hand holding his chin. His long fingers were on his cheek, with the last two on his lips, his eyes deeply unfocused. Moonbyul knew better than to interrupt Yoongi's thinking process, which always gave great results in the end.

-'' Hmm...'' – He hums after a while. The sound did bring Moonbyul's attention to him. She waited.

Yoongi blinks a few times, licks his lips and turns towards her. He clearly didn't know how to say something.

-'' Just spit it out, boss.'' – She says. – '' And I don't plan to back out from this. I'm with you 100% whatever you do.'' – She added, very determined.

Yoongi felt warmth in his chest at that. He tilts his head. – '' And if it's breaking the law?''

She smiles devilishly. – '' If by that you mean breaking already compromised law, then I will gladly do whatever is necessary to fix it.''

Yoongi grins widely, so his gums were showing. Even Moonbyul chuckles.

-'' Alright then.'' – Yoongi says, bringing the chair next to her again and seating himself down. – '' This is what are we going to do. Do you have some secure server outside of work that we can use?''

-'' You know I do.'' – She huffs at the audacity of even asking. – '' I use it from time to time and it's safe.''

Yoongi smirks. – '' Then we ought to make a copy.'' - He nods towards the USB.

She grins. – '' I like the way you think. Then what?''

-'' Then, we shall give them the USB.''

Her grin falters. – '' Come again.''

Yoongi's shoulders shook from silent laughter. – '' We would give them only the information considering the cases we are working on, deleting the ones with our superiors, so they won't panic.''

She arches her eyebrow, still waiting for the part to make sense.

-'' We will also add some false things, but only small ones, involving money mostly, because that's the one thing that makes them do all of these things in the first place.''

-'' You will set them a trap?'' – Moonbyul's grin reappeared on her face as the realization sunk in.

-'' Oh, and it would be wonderful once they start swimming right into it.'' – Yoongi's expression was so evil that Moonbyul had to toss her head back and laugh joyfully.

-'' Min Yoongi. I'm so glad I'm on your side.''

-'' Now, we need to dig more. You will have to check the network for clues. I know it's extra work for you, but this is important.''

-'' Don't worry about it. I can manage.'' – She says instantly.

He nods.- '' I will also sniff around, as Jungkookie know to say. To see if I can find some dirt as well.''

-'' Yoongichi, be careful.'' – Moonbyul placed her hand on Yoongi's forearm. – '' If they get the idea of you poking around, they would panic.''

-'' I know, don't worry. That's the reason why I want to delete evidence about their involvement, so they would think themselves safe.''

-'' Yeah, people allow their guard to fall when they think they are out of danger.''

-'' Exactly. But they are not safe, they are in real trouble, they just don't know it yet.'' – Yoongi spoke these words darkly. He disliked it above all when cops go bad, without any important reason, but mere money or power. He detested it.

-'' We still need hard evidence against them.'' – She spoke. – '' Here...'' – She points at the USB drive. – '' It's just a thing that implicates them, but not involves them thoroughly. And we need that.''

Yoongi nods to himself. – '' We will concentrate on the criminals first. Rim Kwon and Gyeong Hak-Kun did a really great job following their associates and collecting dirt on them. It seems that they kept it as insurance, or maybe blackmailing material. Either way, they helped us tenfold.''

Moonbyul agrees. – '' We need more.''

-'' Yes we do, but we have to do it by ourselves. Can't risk involving anyone. We don't know who is in their power and who's not.''

-'' How do you know I am not?'' – She asks cheekily.

Yoongi gave her the look, one corner of his mouth curving upwards in a smirk. – '' You, Noona, will cut out your own hands then do something like that. The daughter of the famous detective, who was betrayed by his partner and killed by the criminals. That's something you don't forget, for all the money and power in the world. So, I'm pretty positive that you are not one of them.'' – Yoongi says, his eyes growing softer.

Her jaw muscles worked, and her face lost the humour in it. She nods her head. – '' You're damn right.''

Yoongi pats her shoulder in a compassionate, yet a bit awkward manner. He was never good at that. Still, it helped her know that she was not alone.

-'' Let's get those motherfuckers.'' – She growls.

-'' We need more info.'' – Yoongi says.

Just then, Yoongi's computer blinked and the desktop screen disappeared. Yoongi felt Moonbyul tense next to him, but before either of them could move, the black screen appears with the light green letters on it.

'' I can help with that. I have a lot to share. Rkive.''

Both Yoongi and Moonbyul stood frozen, and then she yells. – ''Aaaah!!!''

Yoongi was startled by her reaction. – '' What the fuck? Who is that? And why is it on my computer?'' – Yoongi asked all those questions in one breath. His heart thumping loudly. Oh, no! Did they listen? Do they know?

Moonbyul was already typing tons of codes, trying to push him out. – '' There's no way this is him. No way.'' – She murmured, her brow grew sweaty and she was shaking a little.

'' Stop fighting me, Moonstar, and let me help. You have no idea how deep is the pit you are planning to hop in.''

Moonbyul pushed herself, together with the char away from the computer, now shaking in earnest.

-'' Noona, what's wrong?'' – Yoongi asked utterly worried.

-'' It's him. The king of the net.'' – She glances at Yoongi, her eyes wide in shock. – '' It's Rkive.'' – She whispered.

Yoongi turns towards the computer and then at the computer camera. – '' Son of a bitch.'' – He curses.

___

-'' How is Jimin-ah?'' – It was the first thing Jin asked when Taehyung came home.

-'' He is fine.'' – Tae answers, taking off his jacket and tossing himself on the chair. – '' He is a bit grumping about the disguise but otherwise fine.''

-'' It's for his good.'' – Jin says.

-'' I know, I told him that.''

-'' I was so worried about him ever since I heard what he had in his possession. It's good that he gave it away. That information's not worth his life.'' – The eldest Kim says, going to pour a drink for himself and Tae.

-'' He didn't utter a word about it.'' – Tae grumbles, frowning. – '' I had no idea what he has until we were in the car. '' – He clicks his tongue. – '' Good thing Jungkook was there on time.''

Jin nods, offering one glass to the other one. – '' It was a lucky coincidence that he was there.''

-'' It was not a coincidence.'' – Tae says, taking the drink. – '' Jimin called him. I told him Jungkook could be trusted.''

Jin snorts unpleasantly at that.

-'' You have to admit, Hyung, that Jeon showed strange loyalty so far.'' – The new voice was heard and they turn to see Namjoon enter the room, overhearing their conversation. – '' He kept the secrets.'' - He leans on the armrest of Tae's chair.

-'' He is a cop.'' – Jin says pointedly, adding somewhat matter-of-factly. – '' Even though a good one, but cop nevertheless. He is sworn to obey the law. We are not, and that's a problem for us.''

-'' I still think we can trust Jungkook completely.'' – Taehyung gulps his drink, offering it to Namjoon, who takes it and sips it.

-'' Oh, I believe that you do.'' – Jin scoffs. He was in the mood for arguing, it seems.

Taehyung scowls. – '' What is that supposed to mean?''

Jin turns to glare at him. – '' You know exactly what it means.'' – He retorts in a challenging voice and Tae felt his skin bristle.

-'' Oh, please do enlighten me.''

Joon put a hand on his shoulder calming them, and in the same manner, looks at Jin. – '' Enough.'' – He holds Jin's glare until the older man moves it, huffing a sigh.

-'' I agree with Tae.'' – Namjoon says. – '' We need more people on our side.''

Jin turns at him. – '' Oh, not you too!'' – He groans. –'' We cannot involve anyone because we can't trust anyone like we do each other!''

-'' You trust Jiminie.'' – Taehyung points out.

-'' Jimin is different, he is family.'' – Jin says without hesitation.

-'' Others could be trustworthy too, Hyung.'' – Tae begins.

Jin huffs a laugh.

-'' There are good people out there, Hyung.'' – Namjoon adds on. – '' The ones who trust their own judgements.''

Jin sighs. – '' Those are the ones that scare me the most.'' – He admits. – '' They cannot be brought, or manipulated. I would never know what to expect from them. It's a gamble to trust them. With scum, you know. I can foresee their next moves and thoughts. With the other ones, I cannot. They could surprise you in the best or the worst way, and I have spent too many years planning everything and working secretly so one stranger could come and destroy it all.''

The brothers knew what Jin meant. They've been there. That fear of the unknown was always dangerous and unpredictable, so they avoided it.

Jin shakes his head. – '' No, it's best not to involve anyone.'' – He decides.

Taehyung disliked it. – '' We need help, Hyung.''

Jin waves his hand dismissively. – '' We'll manage alone, as always.''

Taehyung sighs exasperatedly. – '' This is not just your decision, Hyung.''

The oldest and the youngest share a heated stare, where neither of them spoke for a while. In the end, Jin spoke. – '' Fine, we will vote. I know yours and you know mine.'' – He turns to Joon. – '' What say you?''

Namjoon considers only a second. – '' I'm with Tae.''

Jin groans, pacing the room nervously.

-'' We need more people.'' – Namjoon continues. He stood up and reach his brother, placing both of his hands on Jin's shoulders, to stop him from fidgeting. – '' We can't do everything on our own. We are exhausted, Hyung, and fatigue can make us do mistakes. Even a smart and careful person like yourself.'' – He adds the small squeeze of his hand with his words, hoping that it will reach the other man.

-'' You let us help before, and we were better for it.'' – Tae stood up the same, approaching them.

Jin shakes his head. – '' But that's us. I trust you two completely. It's the others I don't trust.''

- '' It became too big for the three of us.'' – Namjoon adds gently.

Jin was breaking slowly, but stubbornly, trying to fight until the end. – '' But look what happened to Jimin. We let him help and it almost cost him his life. I couldn't protect him. I won't be able to protect the others either. I barely manage to keep you safe.''

-'' You don't need to keep people safe, Hyung.'' – Tae spoke quietly, hooking his chin on Jin's shoulder, hugging him from behind.

- '' They can keep themselves safe.'' – Namjoon says.

Jin glares at him. – '' Says the guy who watches over people like a hawk nonstop.''

-'' That's different.'' – Namjoon offers.

Jin wanted to comment on it more but Taehyung drew his attention again.

-'' Hyung, if you only knew what Jungkook endured while trying to save Jimin, and then take us to safety. We wouldn't have made it if it wasn't for him, and you know it.''

Jin closes his eyes, tired of this pointless argument. Deep down he knew it was true, they are way over their heads, but one small mistake and all goes to hell. He sighs deeply, ready to surrender the battle.

-'' What do you plan of telling him? – He asks, feeling defeated. He disliked when his brothers gang up on him like this.

-'' Everything.'' – Tae replies. – '' He deserves to know the truth.''

Jin groans, but it wasn't disagreeing one, just slightly annoyed. – '' Fine. He is in this already.'' – He says. – '' But Tae, make sure he doesn't fuck up all of our hard work.'' – He issues a warning. – '' The reason why it took us this long to reach where we are now is so we could try to right the wrong, and end up clean from this mess. Don't let us fail in the end because we placed our trust in the wrong person.''

-'' You trust my intuition, right?'' – Tae asks and not waiting for the answer continues. – '' Then trust me.''

There was a slight pause, where Jin tried to keep the treads in his hands, but deciding not to. -'' Okay.'' – He says in the end. – '' I trust you know what is doing. But if not, I'll kill you.''

Taehyung grins in Jin's neck. – '' Deal.''

Namjoon clears his throat. – '' Well, now that we are in an amiable mood, I think it's time for you to know that I've contacted Min Yoongi. As Rkive.'' – He quickly adds the last part, when his brothers were about to ask questions. – '' I will help them gather evidence for the solid cases to overthrow their crooked superiors.'' – He continues. – '' Min Yoongi proved that he has a brain like my own since he plans to do exactly what I would have done, so I will help him with it.''

-'' Oh, Joonie Hyung, your crush is so adorable.'' – Taaehyung grins, making Namjoon blush.

-'' I'm not crushing.'' – He murmurs. – '' I'm just admiring him.''

-'' You are, Joonie.'' – Jin agrees. – '' Which is why I'm not gonna even comment on it.''

He shifts under Tae's hold on him and eventually demands to be released. That, unfortunately, only served for Taehyung to jump at his back, wrapping his legs on him as well. Jin, quite unprepared, yelped and almost fell with the overgrown puppy of his baby brother.

-'' Down, you wild animal.'' – He yells with no real bite to his words, making Taehyung laugh wholeheartedly.

___

There have been almost two weeks since Jimin and Taehyung escaped, and Jungkook had no news about them at all. He was worried, hoping that they got somewhere safe. He was still utterly confused, spending hours in the interrogation room after all that happened. Both Yoongi and another asshole from the higher level were there observing, while he was asked the same questions over and over again – Where is Park Jimin? Who attacked you? Why were you there? Who was the woman in the red car? Why did you let them escape? Do you know what was on the USB drive Park Jimin gave you? Why did he give you the USB drive, Jungkook-ssi? What's your relationship with Park Jimin? Do you have any idea where they could have gone? The questions were dragging on and on, Jungkook was so sick of them by the end of the fifth hour.

He answered the best he could, saying the truth, but hiding Tae's real identity. He said that he had no idea who the woman was and then both she and Jimin jumped out of the car when he was taking a turn. He didn't try to stop them since he was being chased and shot at. Yoongi looked at him with narrowed eyes and a hard face. He knew the truth and was quite in awe of Jungkook's acting skills by now.

He also said that he had no idea why he was given the USB, nor what was on it. He looked honestly confused by that, so they let the subject go.

It didn't help that Jimin was now wanted in the entire country by the police – for questioning – as they said. His handsome face was all over the news on every television station. Jungkook knew who was really looking for him. It was not the police, but whoever was after him and Bam. They had friends in the high places, and unfortunately, it seems, in the Force as well.

Yoongi kept USB a secret for a day, checking it with Moonbyul, and discovering not only massive evidence, and some intel on Dong-Ho that they didn't know before. He had no other choice but to report the evidence, which is the reason why Jungkook was so severely questioned right now. Yoongi trusted Jungkook and his ability to play it all smart. He was right, Jungkook managed to escape it all, with only a severe reprimand for the collateral damage he caused, but was forgiven since he was trying to save not only his but others' lives. The woman with a child gave testimony that Detective Jeon Jungkook, saved her and her baby's life and she was forever grateful to him.

His wound healed, only a scar left, and he was still on sick leave Taehyun made it clear that he won't allow Jungkook to go on the field until his arm is completely healed and functioning. Jungkook suspected it was more for mental recovery than physical. He argued with him a lot, but it was useless.

-'' Come on, Taehyunie, I'm fine, and you know I'm fine, let me go back to work.'' – Jungkook huffed in annoyance. It was only three days after he was shot. His doctor just observed him with a steady gaze, face determent and unwavering.

He listened to Jungkook's tirade, promptly cutting him with a calm answer. – '' Ten days, Hyung. Rest for ten bloody days.''

-'' I already wasted enough of my time! Stop making me waste more!'' – Jungkook growls but to no avail.

Ten days had passed and Jungkook was itching for movement. He was worried about Jimin and Taehyung, having no news about them. He asked Soobin to sniff around for anything about Jimin, but the young man had no luck there. The only news about Tae was in magazine papers. He was with his brother, Seokjin, and Jin's assistant, Solar. They came to a movie premiere, and naturally, everyone began speculating about who is she dating of the two.

The number Tae used before was changed, and Jungkook knew better not to look for him in his apartment because it's probably been watched.

Jungkook buzzed with impatient energy since he had to lay low for a while. He spent his days in the office, grinding his teeth and itching to be outside to hunt for clues. This morning was particularly hard, and he was reaching the limit of his patience. He sat with Yoongi for the big part of the morning, going through all the data they had about the case so far, trying to connect the dots. Around noon, Yoongi sent him away, so Jungkook decided to grab something to eat and go for a walk. His arm did hurt from time to time, but it wasn't that bad. He was so tired of lazying around. Hoseok didn't allow him a moment piece ever since he got out of the hospital. He was in Jungkook's apartment, helping out as much as his busy schedule allowed. Jungkook was grateful, he really was, but it was far time he is allowed to do his damn job and find out what happened with Jimin and Tae. His mind was so preoccupied that he nearly stepped in front of the car. An elderly man stopped him with his cane before Jungkook could take a step on the crosswalk, not noticing the light was red. He even managed to bump into a person on his way home later that day. Well, it was more that this person bumped into him, immediately apologizing and continuing their way, but it didn't really matter. His thoughts were elsewhere.

Only after he got home did he hear the unfamiliar buzzing sound from his pocket. He reached in and pulled out a small phone – it wasn't his.

What the fuck...He cursed, rewinding the memories of his day, thinking he picked up someone's phone by accident instead of his, but his own phone was in his other pocket. He was racking his brain until his thoughts stopped at the stranger. He must have put it in my jacket then. He mused. But why?

He checked the phone carefully, searching for something out of order, but it was just a phone. The message read.

'' Meet me at the cafe ''Mouse Rabbit'' on Friday, at 9 am. I'll find you.''

The first person that came into Jungkook's mind was Taehyung, of course, but he wasn't sure. He knew Jimin wouldn't risk being exposed in such a public area. Nor would Taehyung, come to think of it. Still, he was curious.

That's why he sat in the café, at the appointed time and place, waiting. The message he received said to be there at 9 am. He checks his watch and sighed in annoyance when he saw it was 9:10. They were late.

He sat in the corner, drinking his ice Americano, and observing the room. Who comes, who goes, who orders what, who pays with cash and who with a card, who stays... Jungkook's eyes flew constantly left and right. He took another sip of his coffee, feeling the bitterness sliding down his throat, utterly enjoying the caffeine in it when the door opened and a young girl came in.

She was tall, but gracious, dressed in a short mini skirt and cardigan sweater. Her red converse matched with her little bag, and her strawberry-blond hair fell in waves around her face, all the way down to her chest. She wore a face mask with a teddy bear on it. Her blue eyes, covered with a bit stronger make-up shined brightly as she scanned the room.

She would be very cute if she was shorter and more petit, but the wider shoulders and height messed with the image she clearly wanted to have.

Her eyes landed on Jungkook suddenly and she headed toward him.

-'' I'm sorry for being late.'' – She says, her voice only slightly stronger, but still very delicate. Jungkook stared at her, trying to recognize who she was. She sat across him and made herself comfortable. Her perfume was flowery, but her cardigan seemed very soft at glance.

Sensing she is being watched silently by Jungkook she turns towards him, pulling her face mask down and Jungkook saw pretty lips covered in cherry lipstick. Her facial features were beautiful and soft, but something was a bit off. He stared at the girl carefully, until he recognized the glint in her eyes and a wide boxy smile.

Jungkook's eyes went comically wide. – '' Fuck me.''

Taehyung's grin widened and he giggled. – '' Oh, darling, don't tempt me.'' – He says in good humour.

-'' But, what? How? How did...?'' – Jungkook stammered, staring at the man that occupied his mind daily. –'' What's with you and women's attire?''- He whispers so only Tae could hear.

-'' I will explain soon.'' – Tae says in a hushed tone, straightening suddenly when the waitress approached.

-'' Hello, what can I get you?'' – She asks.

-'' Coke Cherry, please.'' – He says in a gentle girl-like sing-song voice.

The waitress bows and leaves with his order.

Jungkook grasps the girl's, oh, well, man's hand and asks in a hushed tone. – '' How are you? How is he? Is he safe? Are you alright? Where have you been?''

Taehyung giggles. – '' Slow down, love, I'm good and Chimmy is fine.'' – He says, looking at Jungkook pointedly, giving him a sign to speak in codes. Chimmy? He means Jimin, surely. Jungkook realizes.

Taehyung inches closer to Jungkook, who leans forward. – '' Better call me Ari, and be careful.'' – He whispers, kissing his cheek in the process. They separated just in time for Taehyung's drink to arrive.

-'' Oh, darling, you are so dramatic sometimes.'' – Taehyung let a girly giggle, slapping Jungkook's forearm gently. – '' I swear you love your dog more than me.''

The waitress pursed her lips to stop a smile, bowing and promptly leaving again.

Jungkook wets his lips, furrowing his brows, a bit frustrated.

-'' You are not even trying to deny it. Tsk, shame on you.'' – Taehyung jokes, while Jungkook scanned the room.

Not finding any suspicious faces around, which didn't say much, Jungkook turns, expression clearing and a lighthearted smile slides on his face. – '' That's not true, pumpkin. It's another kind of love. I'm worried. I haven't seen him or you for days. How is he?''

Taehyung wanted to snort at the ''pumpkin'' nickname but refrains from it. Instead, he smiled widely, satisfied that Jungkook agreed to his game. – '' He is fine, restless. He misses you.''

At that Jungkook tenses slightly, but says nothing. Taehyung pouts at the lack of response. – '' I swear, he aches to be out and running, but you know I can't let him out without you around.''

-'' He... he was a good boy while I was gone, yes?'' – Jungkook asks.

Taehyung smiles softly. – '' The best. You ought to praise him when you see him.''

-'' Will I? Is he here with you?'' – Jungkook asks, watching Taehyung shakes his head in no.

-'' No, I thought it was best if he stays.''

-'' Alone?''

Taehyung nods. – '' Just for a few hours, but we need to find someone to look after him, though.'' – He says, and Jungkook's eyes narrow. Taehyung continues. – '' I need to go on a business trip, and I know you can't take him because of your work. So we need someone we can trust with our baby sweetling.''

It was unbelievable how much Taehyung managed to sound and act like a girl. Jungkook was having a meltdown right now. He felt a light touch on his knuckles and he looks down. Taehyung's long and slender fingers caressed him, making his skin tingle warmly from the contact.

-'' Do you have anyone in mind?'' – Jungkook asks.

-'' No, I was hoping you would.''

Jungkook leaned back into his seat, thinking. He couldn't hide him in his place because he might be watched as well. He's been messing with their business way too often for him not to be recognized. And this damnable thing with the press and a warrant destroyed any chance that Jimin could be hidden within the police like Bam-Bam was. Yoongi was also out of the question, mostly because he was the head of his department. Jungkook didn't want his career to be compromised if someone finds out that he is hiding a wanted fugitive.

The only person that he trusts unequivocally was Hoseok. At that, he stops to think carefully about that option. Hoseok was not involved with the force, or any other government office for that matter. He always danced on the line between legal and illegal actions. He has a vast number of contacts and he knows Seoul and around like the palm of his hand. If anyone knows how and where to hide Jimin it would be Hoseok.

-'' I think I might have.'' – He finally speaks, finding Taehyung's eyes on his.

-'' Do you trust them?'' – He asks.

-'' With my life.'' – Jungkook answers immediately.

-'' Will they take care of Chimmy?''

-'' I think he would.'' – Jungkook admits.

-'' You think?'' – Taehyung arched an eyebrow.

Jungkook nods. – '' I think so.'' - He wasn't sure Hoseok would be up to it, but maybe... - '' We need to ask him though.''

-'' Will you ask?''

Jungkook nods again. – ''I will. But you need to explain things yourself.'' – Jungkook says pointedly, leaning closer. – '' To me too.'' – He whispers, drawing Taehyung's hand to his mouth, kissing it, eyes never leaving Tae's.

Taehyung gulps a bit anxious, but nods. – '' Ok, but not here. Someplace else.'' – He says.

-'' Ok. Today?''

-'' Yeah.''

Jungkook leans back, fishing his phone from his pocket. He quickly dialled the number and waited, until Hoseok's voice answered.

-'' Hey, Hyung, where are you? Oh, cool, can I come?'' – Jungkook asks and waits for the answer. – '' Ok, great. I'll see you in a while. Bye'' - He hangs up. -'' He'll meet us.'' – Jungkook took a sip of his coffee. – '' Let's go.''

-'' Wait.'' – Taehyung says, stopping him on the wrist. – '' I need to take care of some things first. Meet you there in an hour?''

Jungkook nods. – '' Alright, I'll text you the location. Don't be late.''

Taehyung grins. – '' Not if I can help it.'' – He says in a whiny voice, tossing his long hair back, and pulling him into a hug.

-'' You know how to reach me.'' – He whispers in his ear, and Jungkook nods. Taehyung moves back, eyes meeting. – '' I've missed you.'' – He says.

Jungkook's breath hitch and he swallows.

-'' Chimmy really misses you.'' – Taehyung continues. – '' We both do. Very, very much.''

-'' Hmm...'' – Jungkook hums.

Taehyung eyes fell in disappointment. The lack of response was hard to take in. They separated and Taehyung took his bag and started towards the exit without a word. Jungkook quickly paid their bill and hurried after him. Once he reached outside, he saw Taehyung nearly turning the corner.

- '' I missed you too.'' – He yells, a few people around look at him in mild confusion.

Taehyung stops and turns and Jungkook watched how his eyes fill with hope. – '' Both of you.'' – He clarifies.

That earned him the most wonderful and joyful grin he ever saw on Taehyung, who then waved, put back the mask on and tossed one soft... - ''Text me.'' - ...before running away.

They met at the docks of Hangang River, at the Club & Yacht Marina. Jungkook arrived only to discover that Taehyung, still dressed as a cute girl, Ari, was already there.

-'' I still can't get over how many masks you have...Ari.'' – Jungkook shakes his head and Tae giggles like a real girl, covering his face in bashfulness.

-'' Too many.'' – Tae admits. – '' I can show them to you one day...maybe.''

Jungkook grins. – '' That would be interesting to see.''

They walked pass many docked boats, small ships and yachts before they reached a nice and flashy boat. It was not too big, but still pretty comfortable and spacious. And on its side stood the name ''Hope''.

-'' Nice boat.'' – Taehyung eyed it appreciatively.

-'' Yeah, Hobi Hyung has a great style in everything. He bought this baby a year ago. Love inviting friends for a cruise.''

-'' He seems interesting.'' – Tae smiles affectionately at Jungkook's soft expression. Their eyes met and they just stood there looking at each other, when the cheerful voice draws their attention.

-'' Hey hey, Jungkook-ah!'' – They both turn and look up. Hoseok stood smiling warmly at them from his deck.

-'' Hey, Hyung.'' – Jungkook shouts back, reaching the thinner man in three quick strides and giving him a quick hug.

Taehyung bowed politely, offering a shy smile when he reached them. Hoseok's eyes roam his body and face appreciatively.

-'' Who is your lovely friend, Jungkook-ah?''

-'' I'm Ari.'' – Taehyung says in the most charming voice, offering his hand. Hoseok was utterly charmed, grinning warmly, and greeting her.

-'' Umm, Hyung can we go, like right now? Please.'' – Jungkook says seriously.

Hoseok's eyes narrow. – '' Go where?''

Jungkook looks left and right, scanning the docs and the floating vehicles. –'' Anywhere, we don't care.''

-'' Anywhere but here, that is.'' – Ari speaks.

The eyebrows on Hoseok's face came quickly together as he looked first at her and then at his dongsaeng. –'' Are you in trouble, Kook-ah?

Jungkook felt Tae's hand pulling at his sleeve. – '' No.'' – Jungkook says quietly. – '' Or better, not yet.'' – He adds truthfully. – '' But that's why we have to keep moving. Please. I'll explain everything.'

Hoseok watched him carefully, with a serious face. He then nods, his mouth now turned upside-down.

-'' Come on, let's go.'' – He says, turning back to start the boat. – '' Untie us.'' – He says to Jungkook and went inside without a word.

-'' Is he angry?'' – Taehyung ask in a hushed tone.

-'' I think he is more worried for me. It will be alright once he knows the reason.''

-'' Are you really trusting him?'' – Taehyung asked again. He was already risking everything by deciding to tell Jungkook all. Hoseok, he didn't know at all, so he was reluctant to say anything. Then again, Jungkook trusted him. Too many thoughts went through Taehyung's mind at that moment. He watched Jungkook's expression change from serous to soft.

-'' I trust Hyung with my life. We grew up together. He is the only person I would call to help me hide the murder.'' - He grins at his joke.

Taehyung snorts.– '' Should I expect to be murdered?'' – He giggles in good humour.

- '' Naah, you are too cute for murder. '' – Jungkook says, pinching Taehyung's cheek, who huffs a laugh and smacks his hand away, murmuring through blushing.

-'' You corny ass.''

Jungkook grins so wide at that.

-'' Hey, you two, hurry up!'' – Came Hobi's voice, and both men went quickly to do what was asked.

Once they were on their way at a mild speed, Taehyung excused himself to the bathroom. He had a backpack with him.

As soon as he left, Hoseok was on Jungkook.

-'' Who the hell is that girl, Jungkook? What's going on? Who is chasing you? Is she a witness? You two seemed too close and flirty? And I know for a fact that you don't care for females in that light at all? So spill.'' – The litany of questions came out of his mouth and Jungkook tossed his head back and start laughing.

Hoseok scowled at him, smacking him on the shoulder. – '' It's not funny.''

-'' Ah, Hyung, I swear, you spend too much time talking with my mum. You sound just like her.''

-'' Aish!'' – Hoseok smack his arm again. –'' Start talking.''

-'' Ah, I don't really know where to start.'' – Jungkook says, calming his giggles and running a hand through his hair. – '' Umm, do you remember me mentioning Kim Taehyung?''

Hoseok snorts loudly. – '' Oh, only every single moment.''

-'' Hey.'' – Jungkook protested.

-'' Well, it's true.'' – Hoseok says as he held the wheel and watches the water in front of them. – '' It was him or the other one – Park Jimin.''

Jungkook huffed. – ''Well, him too.''

Hoseok looks at him gently. – '' JK, what's going on?''

Jungkook took another steadying breath and started explaining. With each new word, Hoseok's eyebrows went up higher and higher. He was carefully listening, adding small and quiet sounds here and there to express his astonishment, shock, interest, or dislike.

He told him about the case, and the gang first, then reminded him of his transfer to Yoongi's team, about Kims and Jimin. About the attacks on Bam, and Jimin, and pretty much everything. All that time, Hoseok listened with wide eyes and an open mouth.

-'' Woah!'' – He exclaims. – '' Holy shit, Jungkook-ah!''

Jungkook nods. – '' Yeah, I know it's hard to connect everything. I still don't have the entire story, but I hope Taehyung will tell me the whole.''

-'' Does Hyung know?'' – He asks, and Jungkook knows he thinks about Yoongi.

-'' Umm, not everything.'' – He says, scratching his jaw. – '' It's not that I don't trust him, far from it.'' – Jungkook quickly explained after seeing Hoseok's disapproving look. – '' It's just me not knowing yet how deep this is, and I don't want to involve him in something dangerous. I don't want him to lose his job or get into trouble. He loves working too much.''

-'' And what about you, Jungkookie? Hmm?'' – Hoseok asks with a scowl. – '' What about you getting into trouble?''

-'' I can take care of myself.'' – Jungkook says. – '' Plus, I'm not alone.'' – He taps Hoseok on the knee. – '' I have you watching over me.''

-'' That you do, but I can't help you if you get yourself killed.'' – Hoseok says, stopping the motor. They were quite away from their starting point. The day was wonderful and sunny and they enjoyed the view very much.

-'' I still think you should tell Yoongi Hyung.'' – Hoseok adds determinedly. – '' He is much more resilient than you think. He is not only smart, but he is also quite savage and scary when he wants to. Trust me, he would go full mama lioness for you.'' – He adds in an afterthought.

Jungkook laughs, feeling warm inside at Hoseok's words. He was glad Yoongi cared that much for him.

-'' I'm serious. He said as much.''

Jungkook arches his brows. – '' Somehow I can't imagine him saying that.''

Hoseok laughed sheepishly, covering his mouth with his hand. – '' Well, he didn't say it like that, but I can read between the lines.''

Jungkook chuckles at that.

The boat swayed gently on the soft waves, and it worked so calmingly for Jungkook's nerves.

-'' So...'' – Hoseok grew serious again. – '' Who is the girl? And what's her role in all of this?''

-'' Umm...'' – Jungkook hesitates for a moment, not really knowing how to breach this information to his best friend. Taehyung didn't show up all this time and Jungkook had a feeling that he was listening from somewhere, waiting for his cue to reappear, so Jungkook took a deep breath, and said.

-'' She is not a girl. She is...um... he.''

Hoseok's eyes grew wide again. – '' What?'' – He blinks. – '' You mean like transgender?''

Jungkook shook his head. – '' No, no, no, not like that. It's a guy.''

-'' A transvestite?''

-'' No, Hyung.''

-'' Then what?!'' – Hoseok grew impatient.

-'' He means, that I wore a mask.'' – Came a deep and amused voice.

They both turn and saw Taehyung standing there, dressed once more like himself. His female disguise was replaced by loose cream pants, a button-up green shirt and sandals. He wore glasses and his hair was tousled and wild. He looked gorgeously artsy.

Hoseok jumped on his feet. – '' What the...whaaat?!'' – He shieked. – '' But you... you are... I know you!''

-'' Hyung, meet Taehyung.'' – Jungkook says, standing up as well and walking towards the man.

Taehyung bows with a charming smile. – '' Nice to meet you Hoseok-ssi.''

-'' Alright, I need a drink.'' – Hoseok says, turning away from them to fetch whiskey and some glasses.

He pour three, and gave them each, then took his own and gulped in one take, grimacing at the taste. He then pour another one and went to sit down on his chair.

-'' This is way too much for my poor mind so early in a day, but I'll give my best. I'm listening. Begin.'' – Hoseok says, putting his glass on the flat surface, and crossing his arms and legs.

Taehyung and Jungkook look at one another for a moment, and then took their places on the nearby seats.

Taehyung was still rethinking the whole thing. One part of him wanted to escape and hide the truth, the other part urged him to tell them all, and allow them to help if they can. He trusted Jungkook entirely by now. The deeper connection and attraction they felt made Jungkook an obvious choice to receive his deepest confidence. Hoseok, on the other hand, was a stranger. Not a complete one, mind you, thanks to Joon and his detailed intel, but still, he believed his own first impression of a person. Luckily, his gut feeling was telling him that Hoseok is trustworthy. So he takes a huge breath.

-'' Well... Jungkook told you his side of the story.'' – Taehyung says, wetting his lips. – '' And now, I will tell you mine.'' – He decides.

He finishes his drink in one go, seeking that liquid courage, made a disgusted face and gasped for breath. Hoseok offered a refill but Taehyung shook his head.

-'' This story about my brothers and me no one knows, apart from Jimin, so...'' – He licks his lip, and gnaws at his lips, before speaking. – '' I should start from the beginning, yeah?''

And so he did, he told them everything. He spoke about his family, his mother's passing, his father's debts and his dealings with the wrong people. How he died and Dong-Ho came into their life like a curse. How Dong-Ho made his brothers and his work for the group against their will, and why Jin never alerted the police.

-'' They have people everywhere.'' – Taehyung says. – '' They have people in all high places. No one would believe us. We were just young boys back then.''

Both Hoseok and Jungkook's faces were filled with rage, but they didn't interrupt his story.

-'' I heard you talking about ''Shadows'' just now.'' – He looks at Jungkook, and went on. – '' Dong-Ho and his men are the members of this group.'' – Jungkook straightens slightly, more from interest than anything else. Taehyung watched him carefully before adding. – '' My brother, Jin also.''

At that Jungkook's mouth opens in shock, eyes going impossibly round.

Taehyung nods. – '' Yup, even though he is not on the field, he is the one who plans it all.''

-'' Kim Seokjin is the mastermind behind those robberies?'' – Hoseok asks instead of Jungkook who was slightly shaking from the excitement. This was huge. This was beyond huge, this was massive.

At Hoseok's words, Tehyung smiles sheepishly. – '' Yeah, hard to believe that, huh?''

-'' You can say that again.'' – Hoseok chuckles, eyes glistening with interest. – '' Please continue.''

But Taehyung reaches for Jungkook's hand. – '' I don't want you to think that Jin Hyung did that because he wanted to steal, but because he had no other choice. Dong-Ho was threatening him constantly that he will hurt or kill Joonie or me. That's something Hyung couldn't fight against in any other way but like this.''

-'' But surely a criminal gang this big could not be hidden entirely.'' – Hoseok says, brows narrow. – '' Surely not everyone in Seoul is corrupted. We are talking about serious crimes here.''

-'' I know.'' – Taehyung agrees. – '' But they are protected.''

-'' By whom?'' – Hoseok wanted to know.

-'' A secret group from Europe.'' – Taehyung answers, looking into Hoseok's eyes. – '' They call themselves ''The Organization'' and they have their members everywhere in the world.''

Hoseok's eyes went wide, eyebrows arching so high in disbelief, and his whole body went still. – '' Impossible.'' – He whispers.

Taehyung squints at him. –'' I know you don't have reason to trust me, but believe when I say that we know. We heard that name so many times.''

-'' No, I say ''impossible'' because they don't do crimes, they are peaceful.'' – Hoseok says.

At that, both Jungkook and Taehyung straightened. There is a newly formed tension in the cabin, and Jungkook barely managed to ask.

-'' How do you know about the ''Organization'', Hyung?''

He felt Taehyung's hand around his, squeezing him in alarm.

Was he wrong? Did he just divulge everything to the member of ''Organization''? Was Jin Hyung right, and there was no one to be trusted. It all came through Taehyung's mind then, when Hosoek chuckled.

-'' Well, damn...where to begin.''

Hahahahaha I can feel curses flying my way for ending the chapter here, but don't worry, the next one will be rewarding. Hoseok's influence is everywhere, so it's no wonder that he came across the group as well. You might guess who some of the members are.

And I still found it adorable how Joonie strategically waited for Tae to paw the path for him to inform Jin that he contacted Yoongi lol They are too cute sometimes.

Until the next time, my darling. Stay safe and loved 💜💜💜
