It's Him
You wake up, curling up and taking in the scent of the blankets. Your eyes ease open to his room. A dream? You frown and close your eyes, curling up more.
"___!" Someone cheers before some body slams you. You cough, eyes flying open and looking at the monkey spirit's grinning face.
"Good morning, Luffy get off her." Sabo frowns coming in.
"What are you two doing here?" You murmur sitting up when Luffy gets off of you.
"No place to go." Sabo shrugs sitting with you. "How'd you sleep?" He asks giving a smile.
"I slept good... But I don't remember falling asleep." You frown.
"Probably when the demon took you." Law says at the door way. "That could've been dangerous ___."
"I know but... I felt safe." You rub your cheek.
"The same demon from yesterday? I didn't sense any darkness." Sabo says to Law.
"You couldn't even sense darkness in yourself." Law points out. Sabo closes his mouth and looks down at that.
"Law don't be so harsh, Sabo was strong enough to push it out himself," You hum rubbing Sabo's back. "And I trust his judgement." Sabo looks at you and smiles a bit.
"Youre so lenient on someone who wanted to kill us yesterday." Law sighs.
"Yeah but he didn't mean it, look at him he's so sweet." You gush, ruffling the fire spirits hair. He chuckles sheepishly at that, blushing lightly. Law shifts, ears flickering about as he frowns before coming over and sitting between you and Sabo, giving him a slight growl before tilting his head to you promptly. You blink and pet his head carefully, making the tails behind him wag.
"Hey ___ time to begin your...." Shanks pauses coming in. "Where did these spirits come from...?" He mutters in confusion.
"Oh this is Sabo and Luffy, we told you about them yesterday." You remind him.
"So they're staying with us now?" Shanks grins.
"Yep!" Luffy chimes.
"Awesome. This place will fill up soon. I feel it. Now come on lets start training." He chimes.
Training was as you expected, learning mixed in with physical training. By the time it was over, it was the afternoon, and you were exhausted.
You sink into the bubbles and sigh quietly, closing your eyes. Well, at least it wasn't so bad, the spirits were with you the whole time, motivating you. A small smile flickers against your lips at that.
After your bath you get dressed and head back out rubbing your neck. Now your mind wandered to the rider. You wanted to see him again. You grab your satchel and start out.
"Hm? Where are you going?" Law inquires.
"Just a walk, you don't have to worry about tagging along." You give a wave before walking out and down the street. Probably not a good idea but you had to it. You wander around for about an hour. Nothing.
You sigh and turn to head back when you sense a dark presence behind you. "What filth is in my territory now?" He rumbles. You pause and carefully turn to face them.
Golden eyes pierce you as he stares at you in disdain. You feel a chill go down your spine, he was powerful. You swallow and give him a bow. "I-I'm sorry sir! I'll leave your territory right away!" You stammer.
"But you'll only return. Do you see my problem dear? If I am to be left alone then I must eliminate all that trespass." He rumbles darkly.
"Whoa, hey... Isnt that extreme?" You sweat nervously as he unsheathes the giant blade on his back.
"You underestimate my distaste for intruders." He states. He raises his sword and you try to move away but your legs don't budge, fear racing in your chest. A black chain catches the blade before it can come down. You look over as the rider gets off his motorcycle sending it into the spirit's side and knocking him back away from you.
"You..." You breathe in surprise. The other spirit tsks and slashes at you both but you're suddenly in the air, the biker holding you into his side.
"Cleanse." A demonic voice orders you. You look up at the demon. A helmet, that's what he was wearing. You both land and he wraps chains around the spirit. "Now!" He snaps. You nod and rush over taking out a cleansing tag, pressing it to the spirit's forehead and starting to recite a prayer. The spirit growls annoyed, kicking the rider away and getting free, grabbing your wrists as he looms over you. You swallow and press your forehead to the tag as you finish reciting the prayer calmly.
The darkness enveloping him suddenly vanishes and he pauses meeting your gaze and relaxing. "What...?" He breathes releasing you.
"You stay there." You tell him before running over to the biker as he sits up. "Are you okay?" You kneel, reaching for his helmet. It seems to dissipate from your touch, revealing a familiar but scarred face. You freeze as his eyes glare at you uneasily.
"The hell are you looking at—" You hug his neck, making him freeze briefly before pushing you away. "Don't touch me like that!!" He snaps annoyed. You still couldn't believe it. Although you had expected it. Kid sat in front of you, frowning slightly.
"Kid..." You whisper, restraining yourself from hugging him again. He pauses and scoffs getting back up and going to retrieve his motorcycle.
"Be more careful. Stupid Hikari, I won't save you next time... And you." He glares at the spirit. "Control yourself." He huffs before mounting his motorcycle and speeding away.
"I... Apologize for my actions... I regret trying to cause you harm." The spirit gives you a slight bow, making you blink back. You look at him and smile.
"It's okay.... Thank you, I don't think I would've seen his face without you." You breathe, hugging the spirit. He blinks in surprise and touches your back.
"May I escort you home?" He inquires softly. You nod and pull back, giving him a smile.
"Sure, lets go." You hum, walking with him toward the temple.
"My name is Dracule Mihawk," He introduces himself.
"I heard of you, the greatest swordsman right? I guess even powerful spirits get hit by the darkness.." You murmur looking ahead.
"Im ashamed..." He sighs looking away. You blink and look at him, frowning slightly and leaning on him.
"Hey don't feel down Mr. Dracule. Anyone can fall into darkness. And you didn't hurt me so don't worry about it." You smile. He blinks at you and allows himself to smile as well. You reach the temple and he pauses. "Would you like to come in for a while Mr. Dracule?"
"Youre... Inviting me inside?" He inquires in surprise.
"Yes. That's my intention, come on." You hum holding out your hand. He pauses and takes your hand.
"Okay." He hums and you lead him into the temple.
"Shanks?" You call going into the kitchen and finding the redhead. He looks up and halts in surprise.
"Hawkeyes..." He breathes in awe.
"So you've taken over the temple Redhair?" The spirit tilts his head as Law comes into the kitchen to greet you.
"You two know eachother?" You raise an eyebrow.
"Yeah, he was my sensei's spirit... What is he doing with you?" Shanks huffs, glancing between you two.
"I... Regret to confess... I was inflicted by darkness and attempted to eliminate her." Mihawk sighs looking down. You touch his arm softly.
"I told you it wasn't your fault." You murmur.
"But... How did you survive? You couldn't have caught him off guard." Shanks looks at question and interested. You shift meeting his gaze.
"Kid saved me." You tell him. He and Law straighten in shock at that. "The biker I told you about, that keeps showing up... Its Kid." You smile tears coming to your eyes. "I missed his face so much..." Shanks comes around the counter, swiftly pulling you into a hug.
"That's... Amazing ____... There really is a link between you two..." He breathes smiling, tears in his eyes as well. You giggle lightly.
"He's not much of a teddy bear now... but I'm so happy he's still around." You murmur pulling back and wiping your eyes.
"Me too, go rest for a bit, dinner will be done soon." Shanks pats your head.
"Okay." You sniffle.
"I'll be leaving then... Here, take this." Mihawk slips a necklace around your neck. "This will be our link, and it may protect you as well." He removes the bottom part of the gold cross to show a knife.
"Wow.. Thank you Mihawk." You smile at him.
"Don't thank me until I can make up for attacking you." He rumbles. You open your mouth to object but he places a finger to your lips. "You may forgive me all you wish but I cannot forgive myself. Especially if I had harmed such a sweet maiden." He smiles slightly before pulling away and going out.
"That's another one for the notebook about Hikari ___." Shanks rumbles ruffling your hair. "Now go away so I can finish cooking." He shoos you and Law out of the kitchen.
"Alright alright." You giggle going out. You look over at Law to find him watching you, ears drooped the slightest. "Something wrong Law?" You ask.
"You haven't smiled like that until now... You really loved him before he died, didn't you?" He murmurs meeting your gaze before looking down. "It's nice to see some of your happiness return, but I hope it's not ruined when you realize he's not the same anymore." His ears fold back, "I want to keep seeing that smile."
You blink at the fox, you hadnt realized how distant you've been with him until now. He seemed to want to grow close with you. You feel a small wave of guilt before hugging him.
"Thank you Law, for being so patient." You murmur smiling. He blinks at you and smirks.
"I was wondering when you'd stop being so gloomy, it was rather depressing seeing you like that." He hums putting a hand on your head. "Nice to see my real partner coming out."
"Yeah, hope you can handle me."
"Im pretty sure I can little Hikari."
