You jump to your feet only to get sweeped to the side by one of Law's tails, a fireball flies past. "Partner. Tell me you are prepared to handle tainted spirits." Law breathes.
"I havent started my training for this yet." You reply as you both dodge another fireball.
"Then we'll have to calm him down the hard way." Law growls, hitting the spirit with a black orb.
"Don't hurt him! Youre just gonna- whoa!" The fire spirit releases a fiery discharge.
"Nuisances!" The blond snarls hitting Law with a flaming fist, Law flies back past you and the blond steps forward, getting ready to blast him.
"No! No no no!" You swiftly move in front of the blond putting a hand on his chest. He blinks down at you. "Im sorry, Im sorry... We'll help you find your brother so please no more fire." You murmur. He blinks at you and gasps.
"I-Im sorry! I don't know why I..." He touches his temple.
"Its okay, we'll help you... What's your name?" You smile at him.
"Sabo... My name's Sabo.." He breathes completely relaxing.
"Im ___, this is my partner Law... Can you tell me where you last saw your brother?" You ask.
"It.... I... Cant remember..." He looks down.
"That's okay, we'll find him, is he also a fire spirit?" You ask softly touching his arm.
"No. He's... Like him, but a monkey." Sabo looks at Law briefly.
"There, that's a start." You smile looking around. "I know... Kid said there was a forest shrine over on that side of town. Maybe he's there." You say taking the lead. The two follow you quietly through town again. You reach the forest shrine, looking up at the trees. You frown a bit, you had wanted to see this place with him.
"___...." Law touches your shoulder. You blink back and look at him.
"C-Come on, lets go." You offer a smile going up the steps to the shrine. Sabo moves ahead a bit.
"I remember this place..." He goes ahead along with Law who takes in the shrine.
"L-Luffy!?" Sabo calls. Chattering sounds and the fire spirit is glomped by a guy with a monkey's tail.
"Sabo! I found you!" He cheers. They hug cheerfully at that.
"I've been looking for you everywhere!" Sabo gasps. "Oh thank you Ms. ___!" The blond tosses you a smile but the spirits stiffen looking behind you. You pause and look back at the biker in an oni helmet. You could feel its eyes piercing you. You blink and he suddenly drives off down the steps.
"Wait!" You gasp running after it. You reach the bottom of the steps and look around. Gone. "What..." You murmur confused.
"___? Are you okay?" Law questions worriedly.
"I want to chase him, but he always disappears..." You sigh.
"Do you know that demon?" Luffy asks hopping to your back to look at you curiously.
"No... Anyway, we should head back Law." You add.
"Hold on... Youre a Hikari right? Here, take this." Sabo speaks up, making you look over as he removes the goggles from his top hat, giving them to you. "This will be our link. Thank you again." He smiles.
"Here! You can have this too!" Luffy chimes putting his sash around your waist. "We're friends now." He adds.
"O-Oh... Thank you both, I'll cherish them." You give them a bow.
"Come, lets return then." Law says leading the way back. You keep an eye open for the rider as you do. Law peers back at you. "I think he appears when he wants you to see him." He tells you.
"Why does he have to tease...." You frown. Law chuckles, reaching back and pinching your cheek.
"Maybe he's shy." He rumbles.
"A shy demon?" You raise an eyebrow at him.
"They're all different." He shrugs smirking a bit.
You return to the temple before sundown and tell Shanks what had happened. He seemed rather pleased.
"That's amazing, you haven't even started your training and already have three links! Im so proud!" He hugs you cheerfully. You blink and smile, hugging him back. "It's getting late, lets celebrate and get some sleep." He rumbles.
"Right!"
After the little celebration and some tossing and turning in Kids bed, you decide to go to the spot on the roof he had mentioned to you before. You sit there for a bit and wince when his smile drifts into your mind. You missed more with each passing day. You clutch over your heart as it gives a painful throb. You feel tears start for your eyes. You drop your gaze and pause seeing the rider sitting under a street lamp with his motorcycle watching you.
"Please don't go..." You whisper getting off the roof and hurrying down the steps until you step under the same light as them. You blink at that face, knowing it wasn't his. He didn't move as you step closer. You reach for his face but he suddenly grabs your wrist and picks you up, putting you behind him on the motorcycle.
You pause, swiftly holding onto him as he takes off without warning. Peering over his shoulder you find the town easing by at a pace that felt like a dream. "Where are you taking me?" No answer. You frown and rest your chin against the back of his shoulder looking ahead. Then sleep overtook you.
Law's ears perk as the rider returns, the fox approaches, eyes on your sleeping form. The demon turns, suddenly tossing you at the fox. Law catches you swiftly, watching after the rider as he disappears. He relaxes and looks down at you fast asleep. Weird.
