Michael Grais, co-author of Poltergeist, is coming out with a new book that he and his wife, Jennifer, wrote together. Check out Michael's post below on writing of Christa's Luck!

Writing Christa's Luck (set in the west) was a dramatic shift for Jennifer and myself. We were both "sprinters" in the writing world — me with screenplays and her with songs. We had no idea what we were getting into, how hard, how long, how dedicated you must be to complete it... it took 8 years off and on but anyone who has written knows that its always on your mind even between sitting at the computer.

It was an act of love of the wild horses and Christa that kept us going. The really wild thing that happened while we were writing the novel everything we were setting in a town that we picked where nothing was happening at the time — everything in our novel started happening there!

We had to change the name of the town for that reason. In our story the BLM and Oil and Gas Company / Fracking as well as the wild horse roundups were intertwined in our minds and so it has come to pass that that is actually what is going on.

Now that its done we are proud to get it out there and to let kids (and adults) know who 14 yr. old Christa McFadden is — a teenage "wild horse Annie"  — set in a dramatic adventure tale where the dramatic events come one after another leading up to the amazing horse rescue that was the inspiration for the novel ("Horse Rescue 2006 Netherlands" — it's still on YOUTUBE if you want to check it out.) We will be releasing the book this spring and have already had queries from movie companies. Hope you all will read it and enjoy it. It is lots of fun to read.
