Song for the day: The Becoming by Nine Inch Nails

Lotsa Nine Inch Nails this week I guess, which is a big oof, but you're also receiving them long after I'm having them, because I was posting Inktober art all October, and so you guys were spared the worst of early October. Not that it was particularly horrendous, but I completely digress. The important thing is there was actually a composition I wanted to do forever of Evan shattering glass, although I was coming at it from the side forever, and I eventually did this. As you might notice, the glass doesn't exactly reflect what you see on the surface...

And then I had the audacity to color this one in.

It was fun to do, but I don't know if the color necessarily makes the piece better. Not having the skin tones is KILLING me but it's at least a little more clear that there's blood on his hand/the mirror, even if the RED PEN KEPT MIXING COLORS WITH THE LINEWORK IM SCREAMING

also i had nothing to do with the room behind him and you can't really tell in the pencil piece but you sure as hell can when there's color

Nonetheless this was a big learning experience for me and potentially a piece I'll come back to at the end of the year to see how I've improved! I don't usually do improvement challenges because then I can lie to myself about how I've moved forwards when no such thing has occurred. 

Regardless this was fun to do! I love Evan. I've been thinking about the Deja Vu cast constantly. I'll be starting to write Deja Two (second draft, not a sequel) in December. Like TCHF:II and The Space Between Stars, there'll be major changes which will make it a good read for those who are and aren't already invested, but this one is going to be a little more "refurbish"y than those two. Think of it as a middle place between the new draft of Dog Day Wars and The Space Between Stars in terms of how much is being changed. I'd say what you can safely expect would be:

-better development of Adamegevan

-better villain development

-better Karen development

-huge plot overhaul in regards to what the kids actually do

but most of the heart will stay the same. These are still some of my favorite CHARACTERS but the book as a whole really, really needs work, and the prose and set-up weaken it significantly. 

I just

I just want to make something actually worth making

before I go to college.

And for some reason I always feel like this is going to be the story, but that's too much to put on any one project.

I'll get there.

I just wish I could get a sign I was on the right track.
