Song for the day: Frostbite (Homestuck OST)

i have no songs for winter so consider this a consolation prize or something

Sometimes you get a character, you have no idea where they're from or what they're doing, and you know they've just gotta fit in somewhere.

Here are some character sketches of a character like that.

These were some sketches of Winter I did almost immediately. As you can tell the collar design fluctuates about... let's say every five minutes? I mean, not in book, but actually maybe in book, because Winter is the protagonist in a book written by a character of mine named Talia. (You probably remember Talia. Actually, you probably don't, but just look for the other chapter entitled "MUSE".) Talia is a young writer and Winter's story is her first project, so she probably doesn't have details down! 

A Winter I like more, in part owing to the added androgyny. Winter's gender identity is important to the story, although I've been using he/him pronouns because that's what Talia uses at the beginning of the book.

Winter gets a fun crown. A good boi. I don't have the rest of their uniform done yet which is why it awkwardly trails off but you better believe he's getting a cape.

More practice with that head and the collar. 

As for his character, Winter is a prince of an ancient empire, whose customs he is fiercely proud of. However, his family has been trying to send him away for a long time, seeing as his place in the line of succession makes him essentially a throwaway, and while this irks and disappoints him he believes if he somehow surprises his family with his tact they'll take better care of him.

I mean, obviously no, and he knows that, too, but sometimes ya just gotta try.
