Song for the day: Chicken and Cheese V2 By Nero's Day At Disneyland 

PENNNNYYYYY PENDRAGON. Fun facts about Penny: most of the major characters have nicknames for her. Max calls her "P-squared", Julia calls her "Pen-pen", Trip (we'll get to him later, he only comes up in later books) calls her "Nickel", and Alric calls her Penelope at first (even though no one else does) but that changes in later books. Their nicknames for each other are a big spoiler but let's just say by the end of the series everyone has something to call Penny besides her actual name, because that's boring.

Top drawing's actually Angel (Amalgama), but beneath that are some more realistic-ish pics I was doing of Penny in both her Muse and non-Muse form. A lot of my Penny practice, at least the serious practice, is trying to make her non-Muse design look good, becuase her Muse design IS good but she loses any semblance of character when I try to translate her over. The Muse design is supposed to be a kind of freedom and catharsis for her (if anyone watches Miraculous Ladybug, think Adrien vs Chat Noir) but since I designed that first her other design is just "toned down Muse Penny", which is not a terribly exciting design concept?

Practicing face markings. In case you're wondering, which no one is, because I'm still too small of a creator to have an audience paying attention to minute detail, yes these markings are related to the markings found on some Sentients. "Muse marks", like "terreskian marks", are interdimensional glyphs. 

One of my first sketches for Penny's muse form. Her weapons are ink-tipped, but the ink doesn't need to go from barrel to blade... her ink supply depletes automatically as she uses it, which she can do just by thinking about it.

Do you ever realize as an author you've made some fundamental mistake that's only ever going to impede you? That's how I feel when I wake up every morning and realize I have a series called MUSE and a different series about Muses.
