Song for the day: Glowing Eyes by Twenty One Pilots

Apparently I promise to introduce these salty sad sacks fifteen days ago. Woof.

Luka Is There Also is the band name, ship name, and generalized cosmic statement of identity for the main trio in The World Has Been Ending. As a band, they are at least the fifteenth musical entity formed from the sum of their collective parts. They are also the most longlasting, as, throughout the "friendship" of the characters within, at least the musical part of the friendship, Luka has been there, also. 

I mean, since they were eight, but if you're making good music before the age of eight, you're probably a prodigy of some kind anyways, and while we all respect you and wish you the best on your musical endeavors, you should be aware that you make the rest of us look bad by comparison. We were all over here playing the recorder with our nose while you were playing fugues. Sorry.

From left to right:

TOBY is the part-time token girl of the team. Toby is short for something else which isn't Toby's name, but when Toby was nine she decided that Toby was a better name than Elizabeth "or something" anyways. This was probably around the same time she decided that plain colored sweaters and combat boots were suitable attire for any and all scenarios and her parents started regretting having her as a child. Toby enjoys music nearly as much as Cain does, but she doesn't have the same passion seeing as her time is taken up by speculating on their fucked-up universe as it does a backflip off the rails and into the abyss and burning pictures of people she hates in effigy. Toby can be a little edgy, calculating, cynical... Toby can be a lot of things, but she is also a good friend who gives good hugs and will shank a bitch on your behalf. 

CAIN is the part-time token guy of the team. He has two cool gay dads who have been feeding his obsession with music since he was young. Most of his childhood home videos involve his parents handing their son an instrument and him banging out dissonant noise on it while babbling with delight. Eventually he learned how to bang on instruments coherently and his dads have been throwing them at him ever since. Cain is generally as much of a pain in the ass as Toby but likes to pretend that he's cool, sometimes. Cain's other hobbies outside of playing music involve listening to music, complaining about music, staring down the void and questioning his involvement in it, and flipping finger guns at people who don't know him that well.

LUKA is there also. Luka is sometimes a girl, sometimes a guy, and always the only one of the group with any social skills that extend past the three of them. Luka does the editing, sampling... honestly, since the group switched over to electronic, Toby has been the brains of various barely-qualifying-as-music escapades, Luka has done a lot of the actual work, and Cain has sat in the corner testing out sets of chords in case they need him to actually put music in the music. Luka is a pushover, generally, but the school system regularly gives him talks about "potential". Whatever that means when he's been in thirteenth grade for going on a year now and things show no signs of improving. You can't exactly *do* potential when you can't leave the town to go to college. 

Together they survive through the slow, slow end of the world.
