The Present (poem) + A dicotyledon poem

Notes:

For this exercise, we were taught about the visuality and sound of the poem and how words are used to not only express thoughts and emotions, but also used as a literal work of art.  Then we were taught about Dicotyledon poetry and prose.

Prose poetry is obviously a poem written in prose but still acts like a poem. Basically, paragraphs that are written in poetic style without rhyme or line breaks, just beautifully written paragraphs.

Meanwhile, dicotyledon poetry is just literally a two-word poem, where the second word is formed based on one of the letters of the first word. Also, you'll understand the poem when you read its title, which is a mandatory part in order to understand the meaning of the poem.

So, our usual homework was to write a prose poem AND a dicotyledon.

Final notes, the dicotyledon is based on my personal life meanwhile the prose poem is also about my personal experience with my hobby. However, this title was given to us as a prompt and we have to write about it but in our own interpretation.

Enough of me talking and teaching, enjoy!

The Present

As a child, I always set my eyes on the far future that I desired so much. But my mind had dived too deep into that dream, so deep that the sounds of harsh reality and advice from the experienced were muffled by my deep fantasies. When I reached adulthood, mistakes and consequences erupted from below and charged at me, they bit and tried to pull me into the darkest depths of my mind. I struggled and broke free, I swam and surfaced to the real world with a broken heart, I feared my future that could be caused by the regrets of my past. Until one day, my mind finally acquired a healthy balance of passion and survival when a thousand-year-old tortoise spoke his wise words: "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present".
