To lighten up the eye-piercing future shining bright ahead of you,

Because when you obey our orders, your success is a lot more true,

You would, you are expected to, you know, you have to be, you have to,

You are, you are, you are,

Our daughter, our son, our hope, our masterpiece, our work of a lifetime, ours, and never yours,

And these, every book we picked for you, every inspirational speech we gave you, every rule on the miles-long board, every gritted teeth and fist,

These are all for you, and you only, my little kid,"

I'll write, for it to be all that I can do,

All that a small child, a fragile helpless girl like any other, a makeshift model of a good student, can do,

I'll write, just like what I'm doing right now,

Although my voice is too tiny to be heard in a bustling crowd of self-crowned guides feeling brilliant and thoughtful,

There are other voices joining in as well,

And although the waves we pushed up will disappear under another storm when the clouds return,

I know now, I can call me 'myself'.
