Thoughts:
At first, I thought this book was going to be sci-fi, but after reading some chapters, I found this to be an interesting start to a werewolf story. The story is about a woman, named Emilia, who along with a flight of passengers on Flight 118, has time traveled into the future. A future where werewolves exist and selling females is a form of normal.
I found myself enjoying this story a little more than what I thought I would. I even had to read til the end just to find out what happened. I suppose I'll begin by getting my thoughts on paper. Like will there be a second book? I'm curious about the female shifter, Clarissa, and O'Connell. I'm also curious about if the three would finally put an end to the Gathering. I believe the second book should focus a little more on the Gathering since we just got the basics stuff in Flight 118. It would be awesome if the three were able to take down The Gathering from the inside out.
Next, I want to comment on the part where he explains what a man was, and had me nodding my head throughout his whole speech. I mean this is what most women dream of in a man. A manly man that's more than man. I mean Jonah had me fangirling over him with those words. Anyway, this was a good story.
I noticed you do a good bit of telling in some areas. Technically you are telling a story, but the majority of the way you wrote it is like you are placing the readers into the story. I personally think you have a good balance here. There's just some areas that need to be reworked.
As a character, I feel like Emilia did the most development, personality wise. I would have made her a little more mistrusting in the beginning simply because while she is unaware of the danger in her new world, her old world was full of dangers. Maybe not as bad as the new world, but still bad enough to not willingly jump into a wagon with a stranger who had another woman that looked terrified, which she noticed about the girl.
I think you have a creative mind to pull off a story like Flight 118. I mean you added a real world that's different then our own, yet you woven Sci Fi elements into it without taking away from human civilization completely.
As for your werewolves, they are the typical werewolves one sees in modern stories, but you maintained a balance between the human characteristics/personalities that made this story worth the read.
Another thing I noticed you doing is when you're revealing the grand scheme of things, you tend to set it up like the alphas are dumb. Like you are baby-walking your readers into the mysteries of the grand scheme. For example, when it was clear that Clarissa was behind everything, you have a bunch of alphas who are supposed to be smart and quick to think standing around pondering this and that instead of piecing the pieces together. I personally thought it wasn't that hard to see that Clarissa was and had been up to something. I don't know, maybe it's just me wanting to go deeper into the story. Or me just being picky.
Either way, I did enjoy Flight 118. The concept behind this story was awesome. Your characters were mostly believable. And you have a great balance going. I would love to read and explore more in the world of Emilia and Jonah. I'm hoping you come up with more stories.
By the way, this review was hard to put down in words. There's so much I want to comment on yet so much I haven't commented on. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to me. I'll be happy to discuss your story.
