Gone with The Tide by CheshireVibes

I’m happy to be able to review another one of CheshireVibes’s book, I really enjoyed reading her book ‘Sienna and the Heart of Aislei’ which I really recommend btw!

Cover:
Even though the guy in the cover has bright hair which makes him stand out (in a good way) it still works though and doesn’t look too out of place or clash badly with the rest of the background, however I think you should probably tone down the colour of his hair a bit to as I feel like it would look better, a little touch I also like is that it looks as though the waves will sweep them away hence the reference to your title.

Description:
This is a great blurb, it summarises the story clearly without exposing too much of it. I really like how we’re not just exploring what the plot of the story is, but that we’re also learning about the characters as for me at least not only is a good storyline a main necessity of a story, but also the characters themselves, so I really enjoyed reading it.

Storyline:
To sum up the story briefly, 2 days after, a storm had left destruction all over the coast, Callie Moretti cleans up the coast as it is part of her job as lifeguard, whilst doing so she finds a unconscious man (whose name is Triton), after a trip to the hospital and then being discharged. Later on that day she finds out that Triton is actually a merman who’s also a prince as well who’s purpose for coming to the surface was to bring a mermaid named Delphi back home to Atlantis, the reason for her running away was because she fell in love with a human and it was a crime, Triton makes a deal with Delphi and that she must make Hayden (the human she loves) love her back. During those 3 months he stays with Callie at her home and is learning about the humans, however a lot more happens during that time. This seriously sounds good, I can honestly say I’ve never read a story like this before, I can’t wait to read more and see what happens next.

Characters:
My impression of Callie is that she likes to be independent and is also open to compromise as well which is shown when before she decided to move to Royal Reef by herself but her dad didn’t like that idea  and bought a beach house there and gave her the basement and they managed to come to terms that they are both happy with, she’s also a avid photographer as well as a writer too and a hopeless romantic, I absolutely adore that Callie and her dad are really close, I think it’s really sweet, her dad did a good job on raising such a amazing woman. Triton had very good hearing which is shown whenever Callie screams and it results in his ears hurting, however he does not have very much knowledge about the surface as he didn’t understand a lot of things about it, he’s also quite manipulative and sneaky which is shown when he tries to sabotage the chances of the guy (that Delphi likes) confessing to her. In a way Triton doesn’t believe in love as he believes it to be unreliable, but all that may change later in the story.

Grammar/Spelling:
I couldn’t find any mistakes in your story at all, and I should know because I was so interested in it and concentrated on it a lot, you really have a way with words, you’ve got a gift for writing, you’re lucky to have that, so you gotta make sure you put it to good use and keep writing stories!!

Engagement of the reader:
Reading the story I didn’t even realise that there were only 12 chapters because each one was pack filled with such amazing events that are happening in the story, I really cannot wait to see how you develop it and I’m happy that I can be there for it and be on the journey of watching your story grow as well.
