JAGUNLABI by Evergreen_Ebony

Thank you for asking me to review your book Evergreen_Ebony, thank you for teaching me about African cultures and it’s language, I found it very interesting, again thank you!
Cover:
I like how the title and the cover both have the same depiction of a warrior, I love how you started true to the African roots and chose a picture of a traditional African warrior, and I don’t know if you were aiming for this but whenever I think of a warrior I imagine them as being strong, brave and courageous which are qualities that Teniola has which I think is in reference to her. I really like that, seriously well done!!
Description:
Thank you for telling me how to pronounce JAGUNLABI and the definition of it, this was quite informative, and not just because of the definition. I love how even though in Obashola she suffered a tragic loss, which is something that’ll you’ll never be able to forget, she can still find beauty there and be reminded that even though there’s bad, there’s still good as well, and that even though there might be some negatives, there are also positives to help balance it out as well.
Storyline:
Straightaway we are plunged into the story, and my god they’re are so many heart wrenching moments in this book, I mean in just the first chapter alone, so much has happened an example would be when Segun died I absolutely felt for Teniola and Yemisi when there was nothing they could do to help him, I absolutely hate that feeling where you have to watch someone you love have to be in pain and that there is nothing you can do to help. My heart goes out to them, and then 7 months later Teniola gets blackmailed by some guy who somehow knows so much about her, for example knowing her full name, which is quite scary seeing as he could use the information he has about her to threaten her, I’m thinking to myself, this girl has already gone through so much, she deserves to have a break from all of these bad things happening to her.
Characters:
In just the first chapter alone, we already learn so much of the characters, It is very obvious that there is tension between the whole family, which is understandable seeing as the Segun just left Yemisi and their daughter Teniola behind , but yet I feel a lot of empathy towards him as I feel like he isn’t a bad guy really, he just wanted to provide for his family, and the mum despite him breaking her heart and basically crushing her, she still finds it in her heart to forgive and still holds affection for him, shows how much love she has for him, and I completely understand why Teniola would hold some resentment towards him as she wanted her father around, do it made me really happy when they all made up, yet devastated when Segun died after such a short time of a family reunion, seven months after he died Teniola is doing pretty well for her, showing how strong of a person she is and how now that her father is gone she now has to be the one to earn money to take care of her family. Teniola is really someone I admire.
Grammar/Spelling:
I like how you use weather to show what the mood is, to be honest with you I couldn’t actually find any grammatical mistakes at all, I also want to commend you for writing this beautiful story, I honestly cried not lying I actually cried, you got me in the feels.
Engagement of the reader:
This book has honestly taught me so so many new facts about African culture, so I thank you for that, and I really enjoyed reading your books, that I am waiting for the updates for this book and I have also started reading another book of yours called “Frosted Glass” which I am enjoying as well, I as I am a big fan of thriller books, and I hope that you keep on writing more!!
