A normal student

"I have to be rich. I don't want to live like before anymore. I must be rich."

Robin suddenly grabbed Bon's shoulders, startling him.

"Thanks, man! I know what I have to do now! AHAHAHAHAHA..."

Then, he hugged Bon tightly, making him even more startled, gave him a couple of pats on the butt, and laughed once more:

"AHAHAHAHAHA!"

Robin ran back to class, skipping like a child, making Bon wonder if he had lost his mind.

"What's wrong with him? Did he hit his head somewhere and lose his memory for real?"

Robin barged into the classroom while the teacher was lecturing, making her widen her eyes in surprise. She walked up to him and tapped on the desk, probably still holding a grudge from earlier when he had dashed out just as she was about to start.

"Hey, you!"

"What's wrong, ma'am?" - Robin asked.

"Do you think this is a marketplace? Coming and going whenever you please?"

"Huh??" - Robin looked at her with innocent eyes.

"If I catch you running around like a lunatic in my class again, you better be prepared to see me next semester, and the one after that, and the one after that too!"

"Yes, ma'am! I will study hard!!" - Robin responded cheerfully.

The teacher adjusted her glasses and looked at him with the same skeptical eyes she had when he ran out earlier.

"This kid is definitely mentally unstable!"

Despite his determination, Robin soon realized that the knowledge here was beyond his reach. For someone who had struggled just to finish high school, university—let alone Harvard—felt like an impossible challenge.

After class, his head spun from all the information that had gone in one ear and out the other. He wandered around the campus absentmindedly, wondering where he was even going.

Suddenly, he saw a stone bench in front of him. Out of habit, he placed his backpack down as a pillow and lay down immediately. He stared at the sky for a while, then glanced around, noticing that people were looking at him strangely. He recalled how, in the past, no one would even spare him a glance no matter how much he rolled around on the streets. But now, everyone was staring.

Robin felt like something was off. He suddenly sat up.

"Crap! I forgot!!"

Robin clutched his head and ruffled his hair. He realized he still hadn't gotten rid of his old habits—the habits of a homeless man who would sleep wherever he could.

"You're a student at this prestigious university now, idiot! Act like it!"

He awkwardly smiled at the onlookers and quickly walked away to save face. But as he wandered, he realized he had no idea where he was going. Then, he suddenly remembered—Bon had mentioned he was staying in the dormitory. That meant it had to be somewhere nearby.

Robin immediately stopped a random student and asked for directions to the dorm. The student was more than happy to help.

"Are you a Harvard student? A freshman?" the student asked.

"Yes, I just got here, and I already forgot the way back to my dorm," Robin replied.

"Alright, follow me! I'll show you."

Robin followed the student to the dorms, and when they arrived, he was stunned. The building was tall and beautiful, clean, surrounded by lush greenery. The air was fresh—nothing like the slums he used to live in.

They took the elevator together, and the student asked:

"Which floor are you on?"

Robin froze. He had no idea. So, he blurted out a random number and hoped to figure it out later.

"Uh... the 7th floor."

"Oh, I'm on the 7th floor too! But I've never seen you before."

"Oh, really? I've never seen you either... I guess we just don't have fate to meet!" Robin replied awkwardly.

Realizing he might be exposed if he didn't know his room, he quickly corrected himself.

"Ah... I made a mistake earlier. Actually, I'm on the 5th floor."

"Huh? How do you mix that up?" The student raised an eyebrow.

"I really like the number 7, so whenever someone asks, I automatically say it. But I'm actually on the 5th floor." Robin forced a smile.

When they arrived, Robin thanked the student profusely before he left.

Robin then rummaged through his backpack frantically.

"There must be a key or a room card in here somewhere!"

Sure enough, there was! Not only did he find a key, but a stack of cash also fell out of his bag. It wasn't a fortune, but it was definitely enough for several meals.

He checked his key—there was a number on it: Room 707.

"Room 707... Which floor is that on?"

He looked around at the room numbers: 501, 502, 503...

"Wait... does that mean 707 is on the 7th floor??"

Robin smacked his forehead. If that student found out, he'd definitely think Robin was crazy.

With no choice but to go up, Robin took the elevator back to the 7th floor. And just his luck—the moment the doors opened, he bumped right into the same student from earlier.

"Huh? What are you doing here?"

"And you? Why are you using the elevator again?" Robin asked back.

"I had some things to buy."

"Ah... and I... I came to see a friend!" Robin quickly made up an excuse.

"A friend? Who?"

"Uh... yeah! A friend!"

"Huh. What a coincidence. Haha..."

"Haha, yeah..." Robin laughed awkwardly.

As soon as the elevator doors shut, Robin bolted to Room 707, panting.

Standing in front of the door, he took a deep breath and opened it. In his mind, he imagined a fresh, fragrant room, sunlight streaming in, cool air flowing through, a king-sized bed waiting for him, and books neatly arranged on a desk. A clean, modern space.

But his dreams were shattered.

The moment he opened the door, he was met with utter chaos—books were scattered everywhere. Sunlight barely seeped in. There were three tiny beds in the room, and the other two were occupied by two large nerdy guys with thick glasses, lying around, munching on snacks, scratching themselves noisily, and reading books like it was a horror scene.

Robin stood in shock for a few seconds before stepping inside. His bed was in the small sunlit corner, cluttered with books as well.

Shaking off his disappointment, he comforted himself:

"At least I have a place to sleep. That's all that matters."

Without a word to his new roommates, Robin collapsed onto his bed.

One of the nerds, still chewing on his snack, turned to him.

"Hey, wanna bite? Have you eaten?"

Robin was taken aback.

"You're... offering it to me??"

"Dude, you usually just snatch my food. Now you're acting polite?"

The other guy chimed in:

"Yeah, don't fall for it! He's just pretending to ask. He's gonna take it all in a second!"

They both burst out laughing. Robin forced a chuckle and took the snack.

That simple act of kindness struck him deeply. All his life, no one had ever offered him food normally. They had only ever thrown leftovers at him, tossed food on the ground for him to pick up—like he was some kind of stray animal.

As he chewed, Robin realized—fate had truly given him a new life. A life where he could live with dignity.
