Harry's Bitter Apple

After receiving Harry's consent, Sapphire successfully filed for divorce in court. The two of them separated peacefully, just as she had wished. Stepping out of the courthouse alone, Sapphire looked up at the sky and smiled gently, as if she had finally shed the burdens of her painful past.

Harry walked behind her, accompanied by Clara, as if to prove to her that he had indeed gotten divorced. He showed no remorse for his past actions and even spoke arrogantly:

"From now on, you and I have nothing to do with each other anymore. You better start regretting this now!"

Sapphire thought to herself:

"If only I hadn't forgiven him for his violent actions and had taken legal action against him, would he still be where he is today?"

But she didn't let such thoughts linger in her mind. She walked away leisurely, ignoring his words behind her.

A luxury car pulled up in front of her, and as the window rolled down, it turned out to be Robin. He quickly got out, opened the door for her, and smiled:

"Congratulations on your new life. Get in, Sapphire."

Sapphire blushed slightly and said:

"Do you really have to pick me up in a car like this? It's a bit over the top!"

Robin chuckled and replied:

"Just get in. You owe me a treat to celebrate your fresh start!"

Sapphire smiled softly:

"Alright then, let's go celebrate!"

She got into the car while Harry stood there watching, his eyes burning with jealousy. But there was nothing he could do—Robin was now his superior. Besides, he had already divorced Sapphire. What right did he have to be angry?

Robin took Sapphire to an incredibly beautiful restaurant. The staff greeted them warmly from the moment they stepped onto the premises. It was a luxurious European-style restaurant, but as Sapphire looked around, she noticed something strange—there wasn't a single other customer in sight. Feeling uneasy, she asked:

"Why... why did you bring me here? I don't have enough money to pay for this!"

Robin laughed and responded:

"Don't worry! If you can't pay, you can always work here to cover the cost!"

"What? Are you joking? Forget it, I'll just cook for you at home!"

"AHAHAHA... I was just kidding! This meal is on me, so enjoy it to the fullest!"

They laughed and chatted throughout the meal. For the first time in a long while, Sapphire felt completely at ease and comfortable in someone's company. She silently appreciated Robin for all the things he had done for her without ever asking for anything in return.

During the meal, she finally opened up about something that had been on her mind:

"I think there's something you've been wondering about for a long time."

"Hmm? What is it?" Robin asked.

"Why I didn't just press charges against him and get the divorce over with right away, instead of wanting a peaceful separation..." - Sapphire said

"Ah, so that's it... I have been curious about that for a long time, but I didn't want to pry."

"Actually... I was an orphan from the age of ten... but I was very lucky. A wealthy couple took me in, and they raised me with love and care."

"So that was your childhood... But there's something I haven't told you either—I'm also an orphan, just like you."

"You... you are? You're just like me?" - Robin was surprised

"Yes! But I wasn't as fortunate as you. No one adopted me. Everything I have now... it's all a gift from fate."

"A gift from fate?"

"You could say that. I once lived in extreme hardship, so I treasure everything I have now... But anyway, let's not talk about that. Go on."

Sapphire continued her story:

"The couple who adopted me... were actually Harry's parents."

"Harry's parents?" Robin was surprised.

"That's right. They took me in when he was fifteen. But he was away at school, so I rarely saw him, and we never really had a proper family meal together. When I grew up, I didn't even know when he started liking me... Later, I moved out and went to the city for school and work."

"And then?"

"Then, he pursued me. His parents also asked me to be with him... How could I refuse? They had done so much for me!"

"So... that's why you wanted to part ways with him peacefully?" - Robin fully understood after listening to Sapphire's story

"Exactly. I couldn't send their son to jail. His parents were genuinely good people... only he was different. It was a difficult situation for me... But everything is in the past now."

"So that's how it was... You must have suffered so much during that time. And yet, I never truly understood..."

Sapphire smiled gently. Her eyes, once filled with pain, now sparkled with newfound life—the very sight Robin had longed to see.

Since the divorce, Harry's life had taken a turn for the worse. Every day at work was a struggle, and he failed at every task. Even the new project that could have earned him a promotion had to be handed over to Clara because he was completely incapable of handling it.

Meanwhile, Clara had been growing more distant from him ever since the divorce. No matter what he did, he couldn't get her to meet him outside of work.

The day finally came to submit the project. Harry eagerly received the report from Clara, but the moment he laid eyes on it, he was in utter disbelief—his name wasn't on it.

"Clara, Clara! What is this?"

"What do you mean?"

"Why isn't my name on this report?"

Clara calmly replied:

"Oh? Then tell me, what is this project about?"

"Of course, it's... it's... uh..." He stammered.

"Can you at least describe the product? The content? Or how you contributed to it?"

"I... I..." he faltered.

"Then you should already know why your name isn't there."

He flew into a rage, slamming the table in front of everyone:

"You... You used me?!"

"Me? Used you? When did that happen? What do you even have for me to use?"

"You... You dare talk to me like this? I trusted you to handle everything, and now my name isn't even on it!"

He lost control and slapped Clara hard, knocking her to the floor. The employees rushed over, but they couldn't stop him in time.

He yelled furiously:

"This woman seduced me into leaving my wife and family, used me, and now she's trying to ruin me! If you defend her, you're no different from her!"

Clara, of course, wasn't going to stay silent. She broke down in tears:

"He harassed me! I worked so hard on this project, but he forced me to do everything alone and demanded his name be on it. Otherwise, he threatened to spread rumors about me... Hu...hu..."

The office fell into hushed murmurs. A male employee stepped forward:

"Stop yelling nonsense. Everyone here knows exactly what kind of person you are. Take a look at yourself!"

"That's right." Another employee chimed in.

Everyone pointed and whispered, making Harry seethe with rage. He stormed off, screaming:

"This... This is all Robin's fault! That bastard set me up!"

He charged toward Robin's office, ready to lash out, but the security guards quickly subdued him. Robin stepped out and looked at him with calm indifference.

"Everything that happened was your own choice. I never forced you into anything."

"You... you set this up, didn't you?"

"I didn't set up anything. Everything that happened to you was your own choice. You had the right to choose or not to choose. Since you made your decision, now you have to bear the consequences."

"I... I will never forgive you!!"

"You'd better focus on changing yourself. Otherwise, who knows what will happen to you next?"

Of course, after this incident, he was fired. But even if he hadn't been, he wouldn't have had the face to show up at the company anymore. He had truly lost everything overnight. He broke down, crying like a child. At that moment, who knew if he had finally learned his lesson?

It was said that he left town afterward, and no one knew where he had gone. Naturally, Robin had people keep a close watch on him to make sure he didn't do anything crazy. Robin later heard that Harry had returned to his hometown immediately upon learning that his parents had received a large sum of money from Sapphire as gratitude. The money was enough for him and his family to live comfortably for the rest of their lives—if he didn't gamble it all away.
