First Day...
Narrator's POV
Soon enough, Harry, Tom, and the other Slytherins made there way into the Great Hall for breakfast.
When they sat down and began to eat from the delicious feast, Hedwig flew in with the magical newspaper, The Daily Prophet.
"Grindelwald Spotted in Romania.
Dark Lord Gellert Grindelwald and his Hallows were spotted in Transylvania, Romania on Saturday, August 31, 1938, by a group of witches in a local pub.
It' is believed that Grindelwald is planning to get the Vampire King, Vladimir Sânge, to ally his clan with the Hallows and it is unknown whether or not he was successful in his plan.
We will keep you updated as we know.
Maria Skeeter, Special Correspond to the Daily Prophet."
"Gellert Grindelwald, who's that?" Harry asked Tom, whispering
"From what the paper says he's a Dark Lord," Tom replied, also whispering, "whatever that means."
"We could do some research in the library." Harry suggested, "Once we find out where it is."
"Good idea." Tom complimented
Once they finished with breakfast, the Prefects handed them their schedules.

The Prefects walked the fourteen first years to the Potions classroom in the Dungeon and they entered.
After the Slytherins took a seat —Harry sitting next to Tom— the Gryffindors walked in.
As soon as everyone was seated, Slughorn swept into the room and he began to take roll.
Once he finished, he said "You are here to learn the subtle science and exact art of potionmaking. As there is little wand waving here, many of you will hardly believe that this is magic. I don't expect you you really understand the beauty of the softly simmering cauldron with its shimmering fumes, the delicate power of liquids that creep through human veins, bewitching the mind, ensnaring the senses. I can teach you how to bottle fame, brew glory, even stopper death —if you truly committed to this art."
Everyone became silent.
"What would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?" Slughorn asked, "How about you, Mr. Hagrid."
"I don't nu." The large Gryffindor, Hagrid, said
"Let's try again." Slughorn said, "Who does know?"
Abraxas Malfoy, a Slytherin, shot his hand into the air, "Asphodel and wormwood make a sleeping potion so strong, sir, that it is called 'the Draught of Living Death'."
"Correct, Mr. Malfoy, take five points for Slytherin." Slughorn complimented
"Where would you look if I told you to find me a bezoar?" Slughorn asked the class as a whole
This time Vincent LeStrange, another Slytherin, hand shot up, ""A bezoar is a stone taken from the stomach of a goat and it will save you from most poisons."
"Correct as well, Mr. LeStrange, take five more points for Slytherin." Slughorn complimented
"What's the difference, class, between monkshood and wolfsbane?" Slughorn asked
Another Slytherin, Tadeus Nott, hand shot up, "The question is a trick question because they are the same plant, and it also goes by aconite."
"Correct." Slughorn cackled, "Five more points to Slytherin."
Slughorn then began to write on the board, "Today, class, we are going to brew a Boil-Curing Potion. So split off into pairs, get out your cauldrons, your mortars, your wands, and the listed supplies."
The board read:
"Ingredients:
• 4 Horned Slugs
• 2 Porcupine Quills
• 6 Snake Fangs
Making the Potion - Part One:
• Add 6 Snake Fangs to your mortar.
• Crush them into a fine powder using your mortar.
• Add 4 measures of the crushed fangs to your cauldron.
• Heat the mixture to 250 for 10 seconds.
• Wave your wand.
• Leave to Brew.
Making the Potion - Part Two:
• Add 4 Horned Slugs to your cauldron.
• Add 2 Porcupine Quills to your cauldron.
• Stir 5 times, clockwise.
• Wave your wand to complete the potion.
Brew time should be 1 minute 30 seconds in a Pewter Cauldron."
Tom and Harry teamed up around Tom's cauldron and Harry collected the needed ingredients from the potion's kit in his backpack.
They carefully followed the instructions and produced the potion and waited for everyone else to finish.
Professor Slughorn then examined all of the potions, "My, my, Mr. Potter and Mr. Riddle, perfect potions on first attempt. I see great things approaching for you both."

Herbology with Ravenclaw and Professor Beery, they discussed several kinds of plants.
In Charms with Hufflepuff, both boys successfully cast "Wingardium Leviosa" and lifted their assigned feathers thus earning there house ten points each.
And in Transfiguration with Professor Dumbledore, both boys managed to turn their feathers into needles almost effortlessly, but didn't earn any points.
But at the end of the day, both boys agreed that this was much better than their old lives in the orphanage...
