Nightmares aside, it's time to get back to work.

Storming yet another HYDRA base, this time in Sokovia.

Natasha drives in one of the stolen Jeeps with Clint shooting arrows from the back, Steve is riding his motor-cycle, Tony Thor and Lauren are flying, and you can guess what the Hulk is doing. 

Lauren puts the two pieces of her bo staff together so it's whole and knocks out two goons. She jumps up and flips mid-air to then fly. She dips down and grabs a goon by his collar, picks him up off the ground, kicks him in between the legs, then lets him fall. Lauren flies back over to where the rest of the team is, and they all have their superhero moment.

Lauren and Natasha do a mid-air karate kick, Thor and Clint mount their weapons, Steve grips his bike, Tony gets his repulsors ready and Hulk... well...

Natasha and Lauren both kick a goon in the face. Lauren somersaults to the ground, jumps up so her ankles are attatched to one's neck and her fingers are latched around another one's, then spins in the air, causing them both to fall to the ground. 

" Shit!"

" Language! Jarvis, what's the view from upstairs?".

"The central building is protected by some kind of energy shield. Strucker's technology is well beyond any other HYDRA base we've taken."

"Loki's scepter must be here. Strucker couldn't mount this defense without it. At long last"."

" At long last is lasting a little long, boys," Natasha says as she takes out goons with ease.

" Yeah, I think we lost the element of surprise," Clint says.

" Wait a second. No one else is gonna deal with the fact that Cap just said Language?" Tony asks.

" I know", Steve says then flips over then throws his motorcycle at the Jeep inching towards him ," Just slipped out".

HYDRA sends out more goons and more tanks. Something the team really appreciates.

Lauren makes her way to Steve. She lands ever so gracefully in a superhero landing with a fire that knocks out at least a dozen goons.

" Not bad," Steve says.

" Like you could do better," She responds.

"Clint!"

Steve and Lauren then get knocked over by a blue streak

" We have an Enhanced in the field", Steve says.

" No shit," Lauren says.

" Clint's hit! Somebody want to deal with that bunker?".

Steve throws his shield at a group of goons, retrieves it, flips up in the air, then fights them.

" Stark, we need to get inside!", Steve says.

" I'm closing in," Tony says.

And not 10 seconds later.

" The drawbridge is down, people".

Thor then comes down, using his hammer to wipe out the soldiers.

" The Enhanced?" Thor asks as he walks over to the couple.

" He's a blur. All the new players we've faced. I've never seen this. In fact, I still haven't," Steve says.

" Clint's hit pretty bad, guys. We're gonna need evac", Nat says.

" I can get Barton to the jet. The sooner we're gone, the better. You and Stark secure the scepter," Thor says.

" Copy that,"  Steve says.

"Looks like they're lining up"," Thor says as a tank and soldiers make their way to them.

" Well, they're excited,"  Steve says, holding up his shield and pushes Lauren behind him.

Thor hits Steve's shield with his hammer, the force wiping the goons out.

" Find the scepter", Thor says, then flies off.

" And for gosh sake, watch your language!", Tony says.

" That's not going away anytime soon", Steve says.

" No it is not," Lauren whispers and kisses his cheek, " Come on, Cap, we got work to do. Unless you want to sit down. I don't want you to break a hip of anything".

" You little--"

" Watch you tongue, Captain."

Steve rolls his eyes as Lauren smirks. She grabs his arm and teleports them inside of the base.

" We're locked down out here", Nat says.

" Then get to Banner. Time for a lullaby," Steve says.

The couple walks around the base until the finally find Strucker.

"Baron Strucker. HYDRA's number one thug," Steve says as they surround him like prey.

"Technically, I'm a thug for S.H.I.E.L.D." Strucker says.

" Well, then technically you're unemployed. Where's Loki's scepter?" Lauren asks.

" Don't worry, I know when I'm beat. You'll mention how I cooperated, I hope," He says.

" We'll put it right under illegal human experimentation. How many are there?" Steve asks.

A woman comes out from the corner and blast Steve and Lauren down the stairs with some sort of scarlet energy. Lauren tries to get her, but she moves insanely fast and closes the door.

"We have a second Enhanced. Female. Do not engage," Lauren says into the coms.

" You'll have to be faster then...", Strucker starts but gets cut off by Steve kicking up his shield and knocking him out.

" Guys, we got Strucker".

" Yeah. I got something bigger."

Lauren takes a step back, feeling uneasy.

She can feel what Tony's feeling.

And she can see what he's seeing. 

The Avengers... dead.

The portal open.

Aliens flying to earth once more.

" You could've saved us... why didn't... you do more?".

" Lauren? Lauren? Lauren?!" Steve says as he tries to snap her out of it.

" Hmm?" She hums.

" You spaced out for a minute. I was calling your name, but you didn't even hear me. Is everything okay?" He asks.

" Oh, uh. Yeah, everything fine, Cap. Stark has the scepter, let's head back to the jet."

And so, they do. The team packs up and heads home.

Thor makes some ill-fated comments about the Hulks victims, which obviously doesn't help poor Bruce.

When they arrive at Avengers Tower, Natasha is first to rush out with Clint, taking him to the lab with Dr.Cho.

"Lab's all set up, boss", Maria says as she walks onto the jet.

"Actually, he's the boss", Tony says, pointing to Steve, " I just pay for everything and design everything make everyone look cooler"."

" What's the word on Strucker?", Steve asks.

"NATO's got him", Maria says.

" The two Enhanced?", He asks as they walk off the jet with Lauren.

" Wanda and Pietro Maximoff. Twins. Orphaned at 10 when a shell collapsed their apartment building. Sokovia's had a rough history. It's nowhere special, but it's on the way to everywhere special", She says.

" Their abilities?", Steve asks.

" He's got increased metabolism and improved thermal homeostasis. Her thing is neuroelectric interfacing, telekinesis, mental manipulation," Maria says.

Steve looks at her as if she spoke a different language.

" He's fast and she's weird," Lauren sums up.

"Well, they're gonna show up again", He says.

" Agreed. File says they volunteered for Strucker's experiments. It's nuts", Maria says as the couple steps onto the elevator.

"Right. What kind of monster would let a German scientist experiment on them to protect their country?", Steve asks.

" We're not a war, Captain", She says.

" They are".
