“R-rob?” I heard myself ask.

“Preston…” A weak voice replied. Looking down, I noticed that Rob was on the floor, a large, bloody wound in his abdomen. My lover also looked a little younger, kind of like he did during the battle against… Oh my gosh... I glanced back up to see the white-eyed monster smirking down upon me, while I help Rob’s mangled body close.

“Rob? What happened?” I cried, my tears burning my ears mercilessly. That was when I jolted awake, my face centimetres from Rob’s.

“Preston? Honey? You were crying. Did you have a nightmare? Look at me, sweety.” Rob whispered, his arm supporting my back. I just nodded, happy that it was just a flashback.

“It was about the battle… when you died.” I replied shakily, my breath quite uneven.

“Oh, sugar, baby, gumdrop, love of my life, I’m right here Pressy. I’m right here. He’s gone. He can’t hurt us, or anyone. He’s gone, sweetheart. I love you so much Preston, I’ll never leave you, I’ll always be here with you darling.” Rob ranted, bringing me closer to his chest. I wrapped my arms around him, his scent calming, almost therapeutic. “Oh… my sweet little boy…”

“Rob?” I mumbled, pulling my head out of the crook of his neck. He hummed in response, looking me in the eye, as I cupped his cheeks and kissed him passionately. He smiled a little into our kiss before we pulled away, his hand rubbing soothing circles into my back. Burying his face in my brown hair, he began to sing, which my back to sleep.
