8. Crown Pain

Henley had a lot of time to think as she sat in the back of the black hummer on the way towards the palace. The driver was stoic and silent as Henley turned her gaze out the window to take in the passing scenery. As they wound their way through the traffic of the city, the palace that was a speck in the horizon grew bigger and bigger. Its towers threatened to touch the sky, looking like the spires at the top were skewering the clouds as they drove past the guards on the bridge to the inside.

As Henley got out of the hummer, she was immediately greeted with the clanking of swords. The driver had parked them in the courtyard where the prince's soldiers were busy training. She always felt that she was transported back in time when she came to the palace what with the medieval equipment that was used by the soldiers. She had once asked her sister's husband about it to be told that these weapons were more effective. She had been told there was nothing that got in the way here. It was simple and straightforward. There were no jamming guns to worry about nor the fear of running out of ammunition. All this took was will power and determination.

She had to respect the crown prince's decision, but she still felt that guns were more effective. At least the armor that the soldiers had to wear was less clunky than medieval times. It looked like a speedo that changed and morphed like a chameleon. Each rank had a different shade of red. The armor self healed itself if it happened to get cut, but it also had small shield pulses that were distributed from it that kept most weapons or any other sort of monster from getting to them.

Henley waded through the synchronized soldiers, noticing a man in a black pull over and jeans near a group of maroon soldiers by the steps to the inside of the palace. His silvery gray hair betrayed just how young the man actually was. Henley could tell the man was deeply invested in what he was telling to the solider he was currently talking to. A woman wearing a light gray sweater and white jeans stood beside him, looking at the silver haired man with admiration. Her gaze soon turned down the courtyard when she noticed someone approaching; a wide smile breaking out over her face.

"HENLEY!"

Henley watched as her older sister Lianna ran over to her and wrapped her in a hug. Henley chuckled as she hugged Lianna back. Their hugging drew the silver haired man's attention away from the soldier. He patted the man he had been talking to on the shoulder before walking towards them with a dimpled grin.

"Well, it's nice to see you again, Miss Parker," said Namjoon as he moved to stand a foot or two behind Lianna as she pulled back from hugging Henley.

"It's nice to see you again as well, sir," said Henley back, bowing her head slightly.

"Why must you both be so formal every time?" asked Lianna. "We've been family for how long now?"

"I just like teasing her, princess," said Namjoon as he wrapped an arm about Lianna's waist, kissing her temple.

"You are just as bad, Lianna," said Henley as she looked at her sister. "Calling me early in the morning to summon me here for what? Another potential date? How many times do I have to tell you and your husband I don't need to be set up on a date."

"We're just trying to help. You should be flattered that the crown prince is taking an interest in your dating life."

"It's because you're making him sister," said Henley. She could the smirk appear and disappear on Namjoon's face before Lianna even noticed it was there. "I know that if he had a choice, he would like to not be involved."

"Well, he's a good sport then," said Lianna as she looped her arm through Namjoon's as dimples graced his face once more.

Henley did have to give it to Namjoon. He was the most laid back crown prince that she had ever known. He was never on his throne. Instead he was always wandering about amongst his soldiers trying to figure out how to make life better for everyone. He was a great leader. There was no doubt about it, and it was obvious that he treated Lianna like a queen.

"Are you okay, Henley? You seem distracted," commented Lianna.

Henley looked over at Lianna when the question was asked, nodding her head.

"Yes. I'm fine."

Henley didn't dare to tell either of them about Jimin. She didn't even tell them about Hobi. She knew that she could trust Lianna and Namjoon, but at the same time she wanted to protect them both at all costs. Especially Jimin since they were connected. They really couldn't know about that. Then the freaking out really would ensue.

"You're definitely distracted today," said Lianna, "But you need to snap out of it. We have someone we'd like you to meet."

"I have a cousin who is also a crown prince in a different region," remarked Namjoon as Henley looked over at him. "I think that you would like him."

"He'd like to take you out on a date."

"I'm not interested in dating," said Henley quickly, "And I'm certainly not saying 'yes' to a blind date."

Henley was panicking as she tried to think of a way out of the situation. Namjoon and Lianna could see the panic on Henley's face, but mistook it for nervousness.

"At least meet him," said Namjoon. "Since he's around."

Before Henley could say anything else, Namjoon walked over to a group of soldiers training nearby as he slipped free of Lianna's grasp. He went over to one who was dressed in a crimson red suit who was currently engaged in swordplay practice. Namjoon placed a hand on their shoulder, causing them to pull up short.

"Cousin, the woman that my wife and I were telling you about is here."

The man sheathed the sword to a belt about his waist before reaching up a hand to his temple to tap it. In doing so, it caused the protective head covering he wore to roll back reveal his head. Henley looked at his cinnamon sugar hair that revealed itself as she stared at his back now that the head covering was gone. There were strands of blondish gold hair that caused his hair to seem to shimmer in the breeze as he turned when Namjoon nodded his head towards her standing by Lianna.

Henley couldn't help but to have her breath be taken away when she saw the man that smiled at her. His face was like a chiseled work of art. Every piece of him seemed to be carefully constructed, accented by eyes as dark as midnight and a smile brighter than the stars. His plush lips remained in a smile as he walked his finely toned body over to her, holding out his free hand.

"I've heard a lot about you when I arrived the other night. My name is Kim Seokjin. It's wonderful to meet you, Henley."
