FOUR. WHITE DOVE
small author's note before reading: yes i am aware it only took one guy to do the whole killing things, but for this storyline's sake, I am changing it only this okay? thank you and enjoy the reading material.
A simple mission. Take out Doctor Erksine and steal the serum, kill everyone if it's needed. White Dove had trained for this, she learned a lot in a few months and already killed a few people who stood on their way, she was perfect to do this. She is the perfect soldier.
The plane landed on an abandoned field, soldiers got off rushing through the grass and trees until they got visual confirmation of their building, the sky was clear and the city was filled with people as they approached, some stood back confused and amazed by the soldiers, but no one spoke a word, fearing they would interfere with their mission. Eyes turned to look at her, the only person not wearing a soldier attire, her uniform with white accents and a large, feathery cape caught everyone's attention.
An antiques store had been the perfect place to have a hidden bunker for the whole procedure to occur, soldiers didn't give a chance for the owner and others to protect themselves, shooting them with a help of silencers and cathing their bodies to avoid the loud thuds.
White Dove walked straight ahead towards a bookshelf, the doors opened and a long hallway greeted them, scientist and doctors unfamiliar by their presence where shot down as well, the lights around them flickered.
"It's starting, we must hurry." One of the soldiers urged, quickening his pace toward the doors at the end of the hall.
Then, a deep, thunderous explosion shook the walls. Their signal.
"White Dove, complete your mission."
She moved without hesitation, pushing through the final doors into the laboratory.
Chaos unfolded before her. Steam hissed from machinery, voices shouted in alarm, bodies moved frantically. Her eyes scanned the room, calculating. In the commotion, she spotted their infiltrated soldier—a shadow among the chaos—securing a vial of the serum. Only one.
Then, her target. Dr. Erskine.
Without pause, without thought, she raised her gun. A clean shot.
One.
Two.
Dr. Erskine stumbled, crimson blooming across his chest as he collapsed.
Mission complete.
She should've ran away, leave. But instead she noticed a larger figure stepping away from a metal capsule, her eyes lingered on it, six small glasses inserted on them. More serum but they were empty. The man —no, the soldier— who walked over to Dr. Erksine glanced up, noticing her.
Now this was her moment to leave and not compromise herself or her team.
White Dove turned sharply, her cape flaring behind her as she bolted toward the hallway. Gunfire erupted as soldiers reacted, shouting orders she barely registered. Her team was already moving.
"Go, go!" one of them barked through the comms.
Their infiltrated soldier clutched the stolen serum vial tightly as they stormed back the way they came. More agents rushed in from outside, blocking their exit, but White Dove was faster. She ducked low, disarming one with a sharp twist of his wrist, the gun clattering to the floor. A quick elbow to the ribs sent him staggering as she sprinted past.
Up the stairs. Through the shop. Out into the street.
A black car skidded to a halt just as they burst outside. The driver barely had time to react before the doors were thrown open, the agent and herself piling in.The second her feet hit the floor, the tires screeched, sending them hurtling down the narrow street.
"Did you get it?" one of the soldiers demanded.
Their infiltrated agent held up the single serum vial. "We got what we came for."
White Dove barely heard them. She turned her head, just for a moment, catching a glimpse of the chaos behind them.
A female figure pointed their gun towards their vehicle, aiming for their driver's neck making the car crash into a taxi. Infiltrated on Dove rushed out and into the taxi, their runaway car. Driving recklessly the infiltrated heading toward the female agent and just a few inches away she was pushed away by the soldier.
He was following behind them, quick on his feet.
"Let me out" White Dove's voice was calm, but firm. "I completed my mission. Give me the serum."
The infiltrated agent's grip tightened around the vial. "Not happening."
White Dove's breath slowed. This wasn't how it was supposed to go. And behind them, the soldier kept running. With precise, calculated movement, White Dove struck—a sharp elbow to his ribs, forcing a sharp inhale from him. The taxi swerved, and in the moment of distraction, she reached for the door handle.
The infiltrated agent cursed, trying to grab her, but she was already moving. With a sharp twist, White Dove threw herself out of the car.
The rush of cold air bit at her skin as she rolled onto the pavement, tucking her body in to absorb the impact. Her feathery cape dragged against the asphalt before she sprang to her feet, ignoring the sharp ache in her shoulder. The taxi skidded forward, disappearing down the road.
She didn't waste time watching.
The pickup point.
Her team had a contingency plan, multiple extraction points in case things went sideways. She knew exactly where to go.
Her boots hit the ground hard as she sprinted through a side alley, weaving through the maze of buildings. The sounds of sirens and chaos were still fresh in the air, but she didn't look back. Couldn't.
Minutes passed, her breathing controlled as she reached an abandoned warehouse. There, a blacked-out truck idled at the back entrance, exactly where it was supposed to be. White Dove didn't slow, only giving the signal as she approached. The back doors swung open. Without hesitation, she jumped inside. And just as the doors slammed shut behind her, she exhaled.
Mission complete. Her mission.
"Where's the serum?" The voice was sharp, cutting through the darkness of the truck's interior.
White Dove sat upright, adjusting her posture as the vehicle rumbled forward. Across from her, a Hydra officer stared her down.
She didn't answer right away. Her body was still humming from the adrenaline of the escape, the phantom feeling of pavement beneath her palms still lingering.
"With the infiltrated agent," she finally said, voice even.
The officer's expression didn't change. His gaze flickered toward the other soldiers in the truck, tension settling between them. "That wasn't the plan."
White Dove met his stare. "Plans change."
The air inside the vehicle grew heavier, the low hum of the engine filling the silence. Hydra didn't tolerate failure. And she had just walked in empty-handed. Her fingers twitched against her knee, ready and if necessary, to act.
The officer exhaled sharply, then reached for the radio clipped to his vest. "The asset is secured. No serum in possession."
A crackled response. Then silence.
Finally, the officer turned back to her. "You'll explain everything when we arrive." White Dove gave a single nod, gaze flicking to the darkened window. The city lights blurred past them.
And somewhere, not far enough. The super soldier was still out there.
"I know it is too much to take in one day Vida, but you will bring peace to a chaotic world." Dr. Erksine chuckled. The rain poured heavily outside as the pair looked from the window.
"Do you really think I have a chance on stopping this?" Vida asked, hugging her arms keeping her body warm.
"I knew it from the moment I met you kid, you have spirit, a good heart, and hunger for justice. You'll do good things."
Awaken, Vida blinked a few times as she let the light accomodate her vision, her body ached against the humid floor, she was back on base and in her "cage". She pushed herself up, her muscles protesting as she leaned against the wall. How had she gotten here?
The mission had been a success, hadn't it? The serum was stolen. Erskine was dead.
The steel door before her hissed open, breaking her thoughts. A shadowed figure stepped in, boots echoing against the floor.
"You deviated from orders." The voice was sharp, clipped. Hydra never liked deviation.
Vida lifted her head, meeting the officer's gaze with a detached calm. "The serum was secured and Erksine is dead. That's all that matters."
"The serum wasn't secured, our agent is dead and the last vial is gone, it is all inside a new super soldier. Why didn't you retrieve it?"
A sharp slap cracked across her face, snapping her back into reality.
"You hesitated," the officer sneered, leaning down so his face was inches from hers. "You failed."
Vida barely flinched, though the sting burned along her cheek. Hydra trained her for this. Pain was nothing new. But the doubt creeping into their voices? That was dangerous.
"I followed the mission." Her voice was colder now, sharper. "Erskine is dead. The serum would have been retrieved if our agent hadn't been compromised. That wasn't my failure."
The officer studied her, eyes narrowing. "Then prove it."
She exhaled slowly. "What do you need me to do?"
A smirk curled at the edge of his lips.
"Find him. And kill him."
The order settled over her like a weight, but she forced a nod. This is her second chance. And she wasn't going to fail.
