"I don't even know your name!" I yelled as I tried to wake her up. "Come on! Wake up!"
She grumbled and whined in sleep before begrudgingly sitting up. Stretching her arms wide, she yawned.
I was dazed.
She wasn't the girl with perfect curves or large eyes or full lips. She wasn't the kind of girl someone will call pretty at first sight but she was the kind of girl you will call beautiful in a heartbeat. She wasn't the kind of girl who will catch your eye, she was the kind who will steal your heart.
The shine of honesty and kindness that sparkled in her dark orbs was something even a blind could feel and that was what made her beautiful. When I called her perfection, I wasn't referring to her features. I was talking about the strange yet beautiful aura of confidence and pure innocence around her.
She was perfect.
"What?" she mumbled and snapped me out of my trance. I noticed the faint blush and twiddle of her fingers under my gaze.
I cleared my throat.
"I don't know your name."
She gave me a withering glare.
Okay, so maybe the kindness isn't for me.
"You woke me up because you don't know my name?!"
I flinched. It was as if I woke a monster from his slumber.
"I-uh-well-" upon realising that I am stumbling on my words, which for the record, is nothing like me, I gathered myself together. "It's freaking 12 in the noon! What do you expect me to do?! I can't even leave you alone and asleep in a hotel room in a city like Amsterdam, if I want to sight see!"
She looked at me in awe.
I fidgeted.
"What?"
She held her pointer finger, a dazed expression on her face as she sat dressed in my clothes, in-between a mess of sheets in Indian style, looking like some goddess.
"That's the longest sentence you spoke yet." I opened my mouth but she raised another finger. "You care for me." I again opened my mouth but she slapped her free hand on my mouth as she raised another finger. "I have an amazing idea."
I quirked an eyebrow.
"Why are you on this trip?"
I frowned and a strange urge to tell her everything pushed me but I held it back.
"Byat byu bu bean."
She scrunched her nose in confusion.
"Speak human. Please."
I rolled my eyes and removed her hand off my mouth. She gave me a sheepish smile.
"What do you mean?"
"See, I don't know about you, but this trip was my escape from my life. I don't wanna go back there. So for the time I spend here on this trip, I don't want to be the girl from LA. What do you say?"
I was spell bounded. Looking at her hyperactive self, no one can ever conclude that she is another frustrated, lost soul. Even I thought that she got everything perfect. Guess, I was wrong.
Never judge a book by its cover.
Thinking back to her words, I realised that we have more in common than we let each other see. I ran away from home because of anger. There was only one thought in my mind. There was only one wish in my heart.
I wanted to leave everything behind and forget my real existence to find an escape among strangers.
My wish got accepted.
I looked back into her hopeful eyes that studied me.
"I think, that's an awesome idea."
Her eyes widened as if this was the last reaction she expected.
"You agreed." She breathed. "You actually agreed!"
I rolled my eyes but the ghost of smile on my lips said otherwise.
"I didn't want to give my real identity to some potential creepy girl. That's why."
She glared at me and I smirked.
"Okay then, let's make a deal."
"I am listening."
"We will leave all the stupid things behind and enjoy this trip as much as we can before returning to our lives. We will live the life of imagination. You won't know the real me and I won't know the real you."
"The boundaries don't end on name?"
"The boundaries don't end on name. Because if you won't know how I am in real or what are my likes and dislikes in real, you won't judge me for who I am right now. We probably won't even meet after this trip. So, deal?"
I let that sink in. A bitter feeling settled in my gut at the idea of not meeting her again. With a faint smile playing on my lips, I nodded.
"Deal."
She squealed and threw her arms around me. I chuckled and hugged her gingerly.
She pulled away with a faint blush and stretched her hand forward.
"I am sparrow."
I scrunched my eyebrows in confusion. She gave me a knowing smile and jerked her chin towards her hand. I grinned when I realised her meaning. I took her hand and shook it firmly.
"Then, I will be Sky."
I whispered and I swear I saw her cheeks darken.
Damn, I got cheesy.
"Sparrow and Sky."
