Last chapter.
Enjoy :)
"Why did you kiss me?" Sparrow asked suddenly.
We were sitting on a random bench in front of some random canal and enjoying our food in silence. Until she decided to break it.
I looked at her in a weird way with my half chewed burger dangling dangerously out of my ajar mouth. She rolled her eyes and took it as her cue to explain.
"I mean, it's not like I am not kissable. Because come on, let's face it, I am damn kissable! But I was really hoping to catch you off guard and runaway. Instead, you caught me off guard when you kissed me after we pulled back. W-why would you do that?" she took a sip of her coke, obviously thirsty after her rant. Or maybe to cover up her blossoming blush.
"You can't just steal my first kiss and walk away with that." I whispered back nervously.
So what?! I never kissed anyone. Not my fault. Is it?
Her reaction was something I never anticipated.
Guess what?
She spit her coke. On my face.
"Y-Your, what?!"
I discreetly felt my cheeks grow hot and I supressed the urge to groan.
Oh. My. God. This girl will be the death of me! When did I started blushing?! Am I gonna giggle next?!
"Shoot! I stole your first kiss! Oh my god! Why am I so-"
"Sparrow."
"-stupid sometimes! Why the hell-"
"Sparrow."
"-do I keep acting on impulse? Kaya-"
"Sparrow."
"-Is so right, I need to-"
"Sparrow."
"-grow the hell up. I am so-"
"Sparrow?!"
"-sorry?" she finally snapped out of her rant. It was quite amusing how she was beating herself up for something as small as that. But right now I was grossed out by coke on my face. I held a tissue and wiped it as much as I could. And boy did it feel sticky!
"Its ok."
She nodded sheepishly.
"I hope, you don't have a girlfriend or crush or something." She sighed and sipped again.
"Uh...I sort of have a fiancé?"
Cue another spit on face.
"Sparrow!" I whined. Utterly grossed out.
"You have what?!"
"There it goes again." I muttered.
"Shit! Shit! Shit! You cheated on her with me! I mean-"
"Sparrow."
"-I got you to cheat on her. Oh. My. God-"
"Sparrow."
"-I am so sorry! I am so horrible. Shit! The-"
"Sparrow."
"-poor girl. I feel like such a bitch-"
"Sparrow."
"-shit! I was never a-"
"Sparrow?!"
"Boyfriend stealer?" She shut up finally.
"I don't even know her, ok?"
Her eyebrows knitted and her face turned into an adorable frown.
"What do you mean?" she took another sip.
Spoiler alert- I regretted it big time.
"My 'father' is making me marry this girl for his business. I don't even know her name!" I sighed.
Cue- you guessed it right- another spit.
"Enough!" I yelled. Anger overpowered my senses. But Sparrow seemed unfazed. She looked at me in complete disbelief.
"No. no, no, no, no, no. No! This c-can't be happening! Shit! Oh my god! No! What the-?"
"Do you have a crush on me or something?" I mocked her reaction dryly. She ignored it and that's when I knew that it's serious.
"Do you by any chance, happen to be Henry Parker?" she asked cautiously.
"Didn't we decide on secrecy?"
"This is a life and death situation!"
My eyebrows furrowed and I nodded, observing her.
"Shit!" she groaned and threw her head in her palms.
"What?" I asked, completely lost.
"Well, it so happens that your sort of fiancé is none other than me- Caroline Black."
My eyes grew into size of Jupiter as I took her words in. I choked on my own spit and somehow managed to ask.
"What?!"
"Yeah!" she groaned. "My friends helped me runaway. I was running from you and now I am on a freaking trip with you! How small can the world be?"
I cursed under my breath.
Well, shit!
~~~~~
"I-I am gonna take a shower" I jumped. I totally forgot that I had a company.
She didn't wait for my answer and ran away for a shower or more like from awkwardness. I sighed in frustration and collapsed on bed, staring at the ceiling like its freaking Mona Lisa.
How am I gonna survive this awkwardness? This trip was supposed to be my freedom ticket but it turned into honeymoon minus you know what.
Should I just give her enough money (My father is rich) and bail out of this? But I can't just abandon a girl without luggage and phone in a city like Amsterdam.
And maybe just maybe, I know it is hard to believe but I like her company. I like fighting with her or making her blush or-
What the hell am I thinking?! I can't think like this! For her, especially. She is my supposed fiancé and its glaring obvious that we are so in love with each other. Not.
I guess I am getting this weird feeling because it's my first interaction with a girl in a non-flirting-frenemy way.
Yeah, I am weird like that. I was a quiet, mysterious, nerd since...well forever. Girls came to me for my looks and boys, well they cared about their looks so they stayed away. I had no friends whatsoever. Not that I wanted any. My books were my buddy. I never had anyone to bring my playful side out. Until now.
And now this weird...thing between us, has got my brain burning with overwork.
How am I supposed to handle this for a whole trip? I can't leave her alone in a city known for dirty deeds, not that I care but still. At the same time, I can't take so much awkwardness too. How am I-
"We need a contract." I jumped again at her voice. She really need to stop scaring me like this.
"Wha-?" I turned my head to look at her and my eyes nearly popped out of my skull. She had only a towel around her. Her hair were tied messily on top of her head and water droplets tickled past her neck. I gulped.
"We need a contract. I can't be alone in this trip due to someone's stupidity and I obviously can't stand a trip with my expected fiancé." She carried on like it was normal to stand in front of a boy like this. She noticed me staring and narrowed her eyes. "What are you staring at?"
"Y-you're not d-dressed." God, this stuttering!
"Well, obviously!"
"I-Is this even normal?" I blurted out like the idiot I am.
She seemed to enjoy my uneasiness as her eyes sparkled with mischief. She suddenly started strutting towards me in oh-so-slow strides. I gulped and involuntarily clutched the bed-sheet, suddenly regretting laying down.
"Do I make you nervous?" she whispered as she hovered over my face that I must mention, was almost dangling off the edge of bed. So, I was looking at her upside down and there was so much wrong with this angle.
I shook my head and tried to control the raging hormones that wanted to taste her once again.
"N-No?" I stuttered. Again.
She smirked and leaned closer.
"Really?"
"Yeah." I should have been proud that I controlled my strutting but I was not. Why? Because this time, my voice came out as a breathless whisper. I mentally kicked my nuts.
She chuckled and patted my cheek like I was some toddler.
"You are adorable when you get nervous."
Let's just say that my own words didn't feel as good as before when they were directed to me.
I am already regretting it.
~~~~~
"To not liking each other!"
"To not liking each other."
We both toasted our makeshift alcohol- with well no alcohol. This time I made sure to drop no bombs on her while she gulped her coke.
After our little...incident, we both made a quick list of rules and prohibitions. Well, she made and signed it as a contract.
It goes like this.
· Sky has to buy whatever queen Sparrow needs.
· Sky has to let her use his phone.
· Sky can't sleep on bed unless there are at least 2 pillows in between.
· Sky has to get Queen Sparrow food every time she is hungry.
· Sky can't spoil Queen Sparrow's reputation by leaking this trip to anyone.
· Sky won't bring that Queen Sparrow is his supposed fiancé in front of cute boys.
· Sky will respect Queen and her wishes.
· Sky will try to behave properly. So, that queen considers making him, her friend.
· Sky and Queen Sparrow can be friends at most (not that it will happen. Coz well, he is ew)
· Sky and Queen Sparrow won't fall for each other. Ever.
I don't even want to recollect the effort it took for me to get peasant Sky changed to just Sky. She had to make the list 3 times before I somewhat begrudgingly accepted it. By the end of 3rd one, pen ran out of ink and after a lot of whining, she had no choice but to write the last rule with hotel pencil.
If only we knew that how much of a sign that was.
Because in a span of 15 days, hotel eraser was used to chuck that very rule out.
Bitter sweet end.
Who liked it?
Who wants this to be a complete novel?
I wish I had more ideas and time for this plot </3
