Korey's Story
"Hello, Uncle Alaric. It's nice to officially meet you," Korey says in a bored tone as he looks at his uncle. " I don't know who you think you are, but my nephew is dead. He died eight years ago." Alaric slams his fist on the table. Korey just sits there smirking at him. "Well, I can tell you I am your nephew. I can also tell you how this is possible if you would like to sit for a little story." Korey in a calm tone. "No, that's not possible; my son isn't a leech. I buried him eight years ago in my backyard under his favorite tree." Alester says with anger in his voice. It is taking him everything in his body not to go across the table and rip his stone-cold heart out of his chest. " I am Korey," he says.
"I didn't die in a car accident. The night of the accident, yes, it was caused by me being stupid, but it happened because of a vampire, not due to a vehicle like Trinity remembers. We were out for a drive and had been drinking, but as I was coming around a curve, there was a female standing in the middle of the road. I swerved to miss her and overcorrected the car and came head-to-head with another vehicle. It ended up going down a cliff and rolled a couple of times. Everyone in the car was passed out due to their injuries but me. The woman I almost hit came running down the cliff, and she forced me to drink her blood and then snapped my neck." Korey says, looking up from the table. When he does, he sees the look on his father's face. The emotions on his face are rage mixed with pain. " How, how is your fae side still there?" His father asks him as he reaches for Korey's hand.
"I think it's because Trinity tried to heal me. When Trinity woke up, she tried to heal me, but she couldn't. I woke up in the ground two days later. When I woke up, I realized you guys thought I was dead. But that woman who turned me was waiting for me, and she brought me here, but because I refused to kill and refused to bow down to Orion, they locked me up, and that's where I have been since. Zane kept me alive and kept me from being beaten. He told his father that I was his pet and that I was a spy, so to speak." Korey adds on. His uncle looks at him, thinking about what he is hearing, still not fully able to believe it. Alaric goes to speak but is interrupted by Nokken walking in the door. "You, who the hell are you?" Nokken says, looking ready to kill the man across from them. "My name is Korey, and I'm Trinity's twin brother, your brother-in-law." Korey says, glaring at the man across from him. Nokken looks at the man as he looks at him; he can see the similarities to Trinity. "How? How is this possible?" Nokken says to himself. "B-but you died, how?" Nokken asks,
"I'm not going over that again. Long story short, I was turned the night of the accident. Now, if you don't mind, I would like to finish explaining everything that has happened over the last few years. This is important. Now where was I?" Korey says, looking at the three men across from him.
"Oh, yeah, now the past eight years that I was held prisoner in that cabin, Zane would come see me, and he would help me time jump. He also helped me dreamwalk, and he showed me ways to control my bloodlust. As the years went on, Zane became my best friend and would help me leave the cell I was in, and let me tell you, it was hard to do because they would get very suspicious. But we manage to keep it on the down low." He says, looking at them. Korey took a deep breath and looked at his dad. "I wanted to go to you. I wanted to let you guys know I was alive and I was okay, but Mercy and Zane said it would only put Trinity in danger. Orion didn't know that I was your son. Nor did he realize she was my sister. They told me I needed to keep it that way. The first two years, Zane and I watched you guys from a distance. I watched Mom fall apart, and I watched Trinity shut everyone out. Finally I couldn't handle it. I dreamt I walked into Mom's dream and told her it was ok to let me go. That I was happy and at peace. I did the same to Trinity." Korey says with pain in his voice, admitting he had to trick them to move on. He looked down at his hands, holding back the tears threatening to fall.
" Then six months ago I got wind that Trinity was here in this realm, and I knew she would be in danger. So I started leaving the cell every day to watch over her and to try and keep her safe. I was there when she was attacked by those drunks from the bar. I was there when YOU FAILED TO PROTECT HER," Korey shouts and points at Nokken. Nokken's body starts to shake in anger as he looks at him. " Mercy was wrong when she said her fae would wake up when she finds her mate. Her fae woke up because of me. I am the reason behind her fae coming out. I was there in the healing waters. It was me who made the water react that way. My fae called out to hers and woke it. If you could have done your job properly and not gotten distracted by your dick, my sister would have never been hurt and would not have been on the brink of death not once but three times. Oh, and here we are again watching her fight for her life again." Korey says, glaring at Nokken. "The cherry on the cake is that she is now pregnant, and they probably won't make it." He says, glaring.
Nokken jumps over the table, and as he does, Korey breaks loose from the handcuffs and grabs Nokken by the throat and slams him into the table. The table ends up breaking in half. Korey lets go of him and watches as Nokken rolls over onto his hands and knees and coughs. "You might be older than me. But don't ever challenge me again; I am stronger than you. I don't care if you are my sister's husband; I will rip you limb from limb." Korey says as he crouches down and forces Nokken to make eye contact. Nokken goes to talk but stops when Drakkin rushes into the room.
"She's awake and asking for you two," Drakkin says, looking at Nokken and Korey.
Korey looks at Drakkin as he stands up and wipes his hands on his pants before heading out of the room. "Now if you don't mind, I'd like to go see my sister." With that, he steps over Nokken and walks out of the room, not caring about the man that his sister married. Nokken has a lot to prove before Korey will ever trust him with her life. As he walks out of the dungeon, he stops and thinks about his mom but decides to see her after he knows his sister is safe and the same with the baby. He finds his way to the medical wing, heads to Trinity's room, and stops at the door. He takes a deep breath even though, let's be honest, he really doesn't need to breathe, but he was nervous about being reunited with her. He lifts his hand and knocks on the door. The door opens, and some woman is on the other side of the door. "You must be Korey. Trinity said your name when she woke up." She says, smiling at him.
He shakes his head and walks in the room. He looks over and sees Trinity lying there in the bed, looking pale and so broken. "Korey?" Trinity says. "Yeah, Trin, it's me." He says, taking her hand in his.
As their hands connect, memories start flashing in their heads. Memories of them sneaking out and climbing on the roof of their childhood home to watch the stars on a warm summer night. Memories of them sleeping under the stars with nothing but a thin blanket to keep them warm. When Korey lets go of her hand, she gasps. "It's you. It's really you, but how?" Trinity cries as she pulls her brother into her arms and holds on like he is going to vanish again. "It's me, and I will explain everything once you are healed." Korey says as tears fall down his cheeks as well. Nokken walks in and stops in the doorway as he watches his wife hug her long-lost brother. As much as he doesn't like the man, he doesn't want to interrupt them.
Trinity pulls away from Korey and looks in the doorway, and her eyes fill with tears again. Nokken rushes to her side and grabs her face in between his hands and brings her lips to his. As soon as they connect, he feels the sparks he has been missing. It's like he can finally breathe again. He pulls back and looks at her. "God, I thought I'd never see you again. I'm so sorry, baby. I'm so sorry." Nokken, she says as he pulls her back into him. Trinity wraps her arms around his neck and grabs the back of his head, running her hand through his hair. She kisses him with as much force and passion as he does. She feels at home safe. She is right where she needs to be, and she knows it. They pull apart, and she looks Nokken in the eyes and runs her thumb across his cheek gently. " I love you, Nokken," she says with a smile on her face.
"And I you," Nokken replies with a smile on his face. "Alright, lovebirds, enough of that. You're making us all sick." Sonia says as she walks into the room with a smile on her face. "How is she, doc?" Nokken asks as he stands back up, holding Trinity's hand in his. "Well, she will be ok. The healing clay seems to be working wonderfully, but she is to be on bed rest for a few weeks until I feel the baby will be ok. She came close to losing that little one. She is incredibly lucky." Sonia says in a stern voice. Showing Trinity there is no room for arguing since they all know how stubborn she is.
"When can I go home?" Trinity asks Sonia. "Not for a couple of days, and when I do let you go, I will be coming to check on you every day. And I will have some herbs and creams to help heal your wounds and keep the baby strong." Sonia says, smiling. "Sounds good, doc. Thank you," Nokken says, walking over to shake Sonia's hand. "Nokken, you know it's my job as a healer to take care of you guys. But also as a friend, I will tell you this: if you or anyone lets anything happen to her, I will skin you all alive. I will not lose my friend because you guys are stupid and careless." Sonia seethes at them. Korey looks at Sonia with amusement and is a little turned on by her mouth. 'Yep, I need to get laid,' he thinks to himself.
"Now everyone but Nokken out; my patient needs rest; come back tomorrow." Sonia shouts and shoos everyone out. They all leave the room after saying their goodbyes, and it's finally just Nokken and Trinity alone. "Babygirl, I'm so relieved you are back. I have missed you and am going crazy not being able to get to you. I'm sorry I wasn't there to protect you." He says, putting his head on her shoulder as he holds her. "Shh, I'm okay. I'm here. Let's get some sleep; I'm tired." She says with her eyes closed. Nokken kisses her forehead, holds her hand, and watches her as she sleeps.
Sometime during the night, Nokken ended up falling asleep; he was woken by her screaming. He jumps up and grabs her face in his hands. "Hey, baby, it's me. It's me, you're okay, I'm here, you're safe. You're safe." Nokken says, pushing her hair away from her sweaty face. "I got you. I promise nothing is going to happen." He says as she cries. "He's coming; he's going to kill her." Trinity cries. Nokken pulls her into him, cradling her head into his chest. " I promise, baby, no one is going to kill you." He says as he kisses the crown of her head. She pulls back and looks at him with tears in her eyes. "No, not me. He's going to kill her, our daughter. Orion is going to kill her." She cries harder. Nokken looks at her confused before he looks at her stomach. He pulls her back to him and promises her he will destroy him and anyone who tries to take their baby from them. Nokken climbs into the bed with her and holds her all night until she falls back to sleep. Once she is asleep, he sneaks out of the room and finds Korey sitting on the floor outside the door.
"Is she back to sleep?" Korey asks as he stands up. "Yes, you love your sister, right?" Nokken asks, looking Korey in the eyes. " Of course I do. I will take down anyone who wants to harm her, and that includes you also." Korey says, staring Nokken dead in the eyes and not blinking once. "Good because we have a vampire king to kill before my child is born. And before he goes after Trinity again." Nokken says before he walks back into the room with Korey following behind. Nokken sits down in the chair next to Trinity on one side, and Korey sits in the chair on the other side of her. "Go ahead and sleep, Nokken; I will stay up and watch her." Korey says as Nokken fights to stay awake. "Nah, I'm fine." Nokken shakes his head at Korey. "You're no use to her or us if you're dead on your feet. Go to sleep before I use my powers and force you." Korey says, glaring at his brother-in-law.
