Returning Home

It's been two days since the attack and two days since anyone has seen or spoken to Trinity. She has kept herself locked up in her bedchamber and refuses to leave. The lady maids have knocked on her door and left food outside it, but she is also refusing to eat. Nokken called her childish and said she threw tantrums like one, so guess what? She's going to show him how childish she can be. But she also wants to prove that she can take care of herself. She always had taken care of herself and others around her, so the time she has been locked up in her room, she has been studying fae magic and also learning about healers as well. As she was reading the book on fae magic, she heard a knock on the door.

"Trinity Anne Marie, open this door now." She hears her mother, Charity, on the other side of the door. She doesn't respond back and just goes back to looking at the book in her hand. She is reading a chapter about time walking (time travel) and also portal jumping. As she reads, she looks over everything she has to do for time walking. She can choose to stay in the present time or go back in time, but no going into the future. "Cool," she says to herself as she keeps reading over. By the time she is almost done, she can hear the door shaking and her father, this time, yelling at her to open the door before he breaks it down. She groans and grabs her books and holds onto them and closes her eyes. She does as the book says, to picture where she wants to go, and she thinks of the library.

As she starts to fade, she hears her mother yell her name, and the room vanishes, and she lands in the library. Once she lands in the library, she falls on her ass. "Ouch, I can't believe that worked." She mumbles and looks around, seeing no one is in here, so she gets up and walks to an oversized red chair. Not bothering to light a fire in the fireplace, she only lights a candle and starts reading some more. As she was reading, she noticed red drops on the book. She brought her hand up to her nose and wiped it across, and saw she had a bloody nose. She shrugs it off, grabs a Kleenex, puts it on her nose, and goes back to reading. After a couple of hours, she gets up and walks to the middle of the library and repeats what she did to end up there. She pictures the room she has been staying in, and the next thing she knows, she is back in the room.

"Jesus Christ, how did you do that?" she hears, and she sees her father standing in the middle of the room. "Umm, I read it in this?" She answers, but it comes out more like a question. "Trinity, where have you been? We looked all over the palace for you." His father asks as everyone walks back into the room.

"I was in the library." She says to her father.

"No, you weren't; that was the first Nokken checked," Drakkin says as he crosses his arms. "Yes, I was." She says to Drakkin, crossing her arms and copying him. "Ok, well, he didn't see you. But enough, get ready for dinner." Her father says. She goes to speak, but he interrupts her. "You're joining us; you're not going to throw a fit either, so don't think about it." He adds and walks out.

As Trinity gets ready for dinner, Alester meets up with Noken and Alaric. "Where was she?" Nokken? asks Alester. "She said she went to the library. Are you sure she wasn't in there?" He asks Nokken. "She wasn't in there. I looked all over the library." Nokken answers. "Wait, how did she get past us and end up in her room?" Alaric asks and looks up from the map on his desk.

"That's the thing I don't know; she just appeared out of nowhere." Alester says as he starts pacing. "She time jumped." Nokken says, surprised. "Time jumped? That's not possible. No one has time jumped since Aunt Anastasia back in the 1800s." Alaric says.

"If I get her back to the human realm, she will forget about all of this. We need to get her back tonight." Alester says. They sit there in silence, thinking about what they have just learned about Trinity. "I will have Sonia make something to make Trinity fall asleep to move her home. I have a feeling she will fight us if we try making her leave; she seems desperate to stay here with us." Alaric says after a few minutes of silence. Alester shakes his head, agreeing with his older brother, before getting up and leaving the office.

The next morning, Trinity wakes up and is startled she doesn't remember falling asleep. She looks around and notices that she isn't in her room at the palace but in her bed at her parents house. "What the hell?" she says to herself. She gets out of bed and takes her hoodie off. As she takes her hoodie off, she hears a thump. She looked down and noticed the book she was reading was on the floor. She bends down and picks it up; she forgot she had this in her pocket. But now she has to find out how the hell she got here because she doesn't remember falling asleep or even leaving the palace.

She walks out of her room and heads towards the kitchen, where she sees her parents sitting at the table drinking their coffee. "Good morning, princess. How did you sleep?" Her mother asks her as Trinity walks into the kitchen. "What happened? How did I get in my room when we were at the palace?" she asks her mom. "We brought you home last night." Her father answers for her. "How did you bring me here without waking me up?" She asks, looking at her parents.

Her mother looks down at the coffee cup she has resting on the table in her hands, refusing to make eye contact with her. "Mom?" Trinity speaks up, looking at her mom. She sees that she is refusing to make eye contact with her. This causes her to get upset and causes her anxiety to pick up. "Why are you still keeping secrets from me!?" she asks.

"What do you remember from last night?" Alister asks as he pulls out the chair for Trinity to sit in. "I remember going to dinner last night with you, and then after dinner Nokken and Sonia took me outside to the garden so Sonia could talk to me in private. We had a couple of glasses of wine. After that I don't remember anything. I woke up here." She says, looking at her parents. Her eyes start to water as it dawned on her that they drugged her. Her heart shatters from the betrayal that not only her parents caused but that everyone she had started to trust and view as friends did too. "YOU DRUGGED ME!" She shouts and stands up, causing the chair to be knocked over from how fast she moved.

"We didn't have a choice; you refused to see common sense and wouldn't come home willingly. Nokken was right when he said you have no common sense when it comes to making choices about your safety. Hell, I do not think I have ever seen you act so damn childish in my life, resorting to barricading yourself in that room and not eating!" Her father shouts as he slams his hand on the table.

Trinity winces as she hears those words coming out of her father's mouth. She can't believe that he would take that arrogant ass's side. "Well, maybe if everyone would stop treating me like a child and allow me to make choices for myself, I wouldn't have acted that way. Let alone kept half of my identity from me! I am twenty-five, not a two-year-old!" She shouts back as she walks away and heads outside. As she makes it to the pond in their backyard, she hears her mother walking up to her.

"Trinity, we did it to protect you. We didn't mean to take the choice away from you, but since your brother's death, you haven't been able to make the right choices." Her mother says to her. "Don't bring that on to me; I'm not Alex. You did mean to take the choice from me. You always make the choices; you never give me a chance. Well, you know what? No more. I'm going home tomorrow." She says as she turns back to the house and packs her bags to go back to America.
