Chapter 8
Elizabeth breathed heavily, her hand clutching tightly to the sword in her palms.
"Did you see it? Oh he was so scared~ let's kill all those vampires 'kay? ~"
Elizabeth placed her hand over her head as the soft giggling of the demon within the swords vibrated throughout her skull. Although she had never wielded demon swords before, she knew this was not normal.
"Are you alright?"
A hand was placed on her shoulder and in a split second she sliced at the perpetrator. If it had been anyone else, an arm or perhaps their entire half body would have come apart. However, since it was him he dodged rather easily, his breath catching in his throat.
"Woah! Are you not feeling good today Lizzy?"
"DON'T CALL ME THAT!" She shouted, squeezing her eyes shut.
"Yuichiro, what did you do?" The voice of Shinoa questioned breaking the silence.
"Nothing! I just asked if she was alright," he answered, giving Elizabeth a confused expression.
Opening her eyes she murmured, "I'm sorry for shouting...but please, don't call me Lizzy."
"Why not? I like the nickname Lizzy. Its easier to say."
"If she doesn't want you calling her that then don't call her it!" Mitsuba stated, her hands on her hips.
"Fine, I won't call her Lizzy," Yuichiro responded.
"So, what are we going to do now?" Yoichi inquired.
"Well we cleared the area so I guess we should head back now," Shinoa answered.
As the other members of the squad began to walk off heading to the vehicle that would take them back, Elizabeth stared at the swords forcing herself to face the demon in her mind.
The demon came into view and remained in the form of young Ciel, a look of curiosity on his face.
"Stop doing that," She ordered.
"Doing what?"
"Telling me what to do. I'm not going to listen to you."
"Well, you and I share a special connection that the others don't. You see, miss, You and I are connected."
"I know, I made a contract with you,"
"No no, we go way back to before. Do you not know that demon weapons were once vampires?"
"I don't care," Elizabeth stated.
"but I'm special in the fact that I was born not as a demon or a vampire. And that's not all, I-"
"Elizabeth? Hey!" Yuichiro's voice broke through her concentration and she turned her gaze to him as he stood behind the group, motioning for her to follow. "Come on or you'll be left behind!"
Collecting herself, she followed behind momentarily wondering what the demon was about to say. The two were connected through some other way beside the contract? That thought seemed impossible.
Shaking away these confusing thoughts, Elizabeth forced herself to remember exactly why she had contracted the demon in the first place.
"Ciel," she murmured.
"Did you say something?" Yuichiro inquired, turning and eyeing her again.
"No, lets just go back," Elizabeth responded.
She walked past and climbed into the car, closing her eyes to relax. The soft hum of the car filled her ears and she breathed out softly as images of her peaceful childhood flooded her vision.
"I take it you're not getting much sleep," Shinoa commented.
Elizabeth opened her eyes as she tried to remember the last time she had gotten good sleep. "I suppose not," She mumbled.
"You should take it easy sometimes Elizabeth. Your health will be affected if you keep going in like this."
"I can't rest easy. I have something I must do," Elizabeth responded.
"Like what?" Yoichi inquired.
Aware that everyone's attention was on her, She sighed before saying, "I have to find someone."
"Is this someone a part of your family?" Yuichiro inquired.
"Yes, he's my fiance'."
There was a moment of silence before Shinoa commented, "Wow, you're awfully young to be engaged already. This fiance of yours, what's his name?"
"Ciel," Was all she said.
Catching the slightly perplexed expression on Yuichiro's face, she watched as different facial expressions crossed his features before he shouted, "So wait! This Ciel, is he a Phantomhive?"
Elizabeth nodded as curiousity filled her mind, "How did you know?"
"I was always listening to stories about him and his family. Since I lived in an orphanage, one of us got adopted before the world ended. We met up when the vampires rounded us up. He would always talk about how fun it was to live there in a big mansion and play with Ciel Phantomhive."
Elizabeth listened to the explaination and furrowed her brows. "This person who was telling you those stories, was he called Mika?"
Yuichiro's eyes lit up as he leaned forward, "Yes! His Name was Mika! He sometimes talked about a girl named Lizzy who was always with Ciel. He said she was real girly, hated swordfighting, and whose mother was scary! I can't believe you're the same person!"
"Ladies should be gentle and kind, the perfect example of innocence. She should be protected at all times by her husband. At least, that's what my Aunt used to say," Elizabeth said. "My mother believed that a Lady should protect herself and never allow herself to be protected by anyone other than her own hands. She should be fierce and able to stand on her own."
"You're mother sounds like she's the one who taught you how to fight," Mitsuba commented.
"My Mother was right. In the world we live in, a Lady has to be strong to protect herself. I have to fight," Elizabeth said softly.
The rest of the ride was silent, leaving her words hanging in the air. Elizabeth closed her eyes once again letting her mind wander aimlessly in the silence leaving the only thing on her mind Ciel.
