CHAPTER 3
HAYLEY'S POV
Biochem class
We can survive
Just avoid and ignore...
"Hayley!" I heard someone shout in my ear and placed his hand over my shoulder.
"Good morning!" He cheered and I felt dizzy I pulled back to see Theodore.
Oh my God he was serious.
"Um..hi Theodore" I said shyly.
"Come hang with us in the back" he said pulling me into the class.
"Actually I'll rather stay in front" I said.
"Suit yourself" he said going to the back.
Okay, not so bad.
I made my way to the front seat surprisingly the delinquents were early though not all of them were currently present.
I heard the drag of a chair and saw Theodore sitting beside me.
"You know you actually look pretty" he said and I froze confused and for some stupid reason, my cheeks felt warm.
"What?" I asked.
"Didn't hear me the first time?" He asked and I avoided looking at his stupidly handsome face.
"T..thank you" I replied and he leaned back into his chair.
"You didn't reply my text last night" he said.
"Sorry about that I was busy and it slipped my mind" I replied.
"Busy? Doing what?" He asked and I turned to face him.
"Stuff" I said in an obvious manner.
"Well I'm just going to tell you" he started.
"The boys don't like you and are thinking of a way to ambush you" he said.
"What?!" I asked shouting.
"Calm down I'm joking" he laughed and I glared at him.
"Loosen up a bit, or you'll never have fun and be happy" he said.
" I don't need fun and I'm happy" I said and he scoffed.
"Boring" he groaned and popped what I believe was a gummy bear into his mouth.
I didn't know when I began talking freely with Theodore and when classes were over I seemed to realize myself.
"Save my number and call me sometime" he winked before leaving.
I had made my first friend and it was the kind of friend I was avoiding.
I didn't see the need for friends and didn't like people getting very close.
Theodore was the opposite of what I expected.
I expected him to be rude with an I don't care attitude but I guess you can never guess a book by its cover.
I headed for the library to get some of my reading done.
"Hi" I heard and looked up to find a girl smiling at me.
"Hi" I returned the greeting turning my attention back to my books.
"Is this space taken?" She asked talking about the seat opposite me in the booth.
I looked around they were other spaces but it seemed like there was something she wanted to tell me.
"I'm in your pharmacology class and also anatomy" she said and I nodded.
"So what are you reading?" She asked.
"Was there something you needed?" I asked suspiciously.
"Not really just wanted to be friends" she said smiling and I just nodded.
"What's your name?" She asked.
"Hayley, yours?" I asked.
"Vanessa" she smiled and I returned it facing my book.
"I couldn't help but notice you with one of the back boys" she said.
There is as I knew she wouldn't want to be friends for nothing.
"Okay?" I said.
"You've to hear such perfect grades since the first year and you're always in the top three!" She stated and I gave a small smile.
"What I'm trying to say as your friend is you don't need such distractions" she said.
"Thanks for your advice Vanessa" I said packing my things.
"Wait Hayley what I'm trying to say is you shouldn't be hanging out with such dangerous people no matter how hot they might seem" she said and I nodded.
"Bye Vanessa" I said walking away.
I scoffed in annoyance she probably needed me for something and could she be more blunt?!.
I heard a shout followed by laughter.
I knew I should ignore it but I wanted to know what was happening.
Sneaking towards the noise I hid behind a building and poked my head to see Theodore and his friends laughing over something and below them were two boys who wherry beaten up and bloody.
One of them stomped on the boys who shouted while he laughed.
Another kicked them over before walking away and I ran towards the boys on the floor.
"Are you alright?" I asked trying to help one up.
One of his eyes where swollen close and he was bleeding from his nose and ear the other one seemed to have passed out.
I heard running and looked above me to almost find a fist planted in my face but was stopped by a hand.
"What are you doing Theo?" The gut asked angrily.
"Leave her" Theodore said and I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding.
"She's messing with our toys so we have to mess her up a little" another said.
"Just let her go,, guys she probably didn't know we were the ones who did this she just saw some injured students on the floor" Theodore explained.
"Don't tell me playing with her made you act dumb?" The guy asked and Theodore didn't reply.
He kicked me to signal me and I knew he wanted me to run.
I ran as far as my legs could go breathing hard.
I ran my way home and barged into the house startling a sleeping Vandel.
He took in my appearance and rushed to me.
"What's wrong?" He asked when I didn't reply he pried the door open and went outside after checking for any danger he walked back inside.
"Hayley, what's wrong?" He asked grabbing my shoulders.
"N..nothing sorry for worrying you" I said with a small smile about to head upstairs but he stopped me.
"Why were you running?" He asked.
"Nothing really" I assured but he didn't move.
"Vandel I'm fine really there's nothing to worry about" I smiled
"Okay but if there's anything wrong or something bothering you let me know" he said
"Of course" I said smiling and began heading upstairs.
