Chapter Four

"Niki...come on get up we have to leave in a few minutes..." the male's eyes slowly opened before they shut again. "Just five more minutes..." he groaned before turning to the other side. I looked at Jay, who was standing behind me and sighed. Jay chuckled and came over to the sleepy male. "Niki! Come on get up! If you want to sleep you can sleep on the bus!" Jay said, shaking the boy's arm gently. Niki sighed then got up with another groan. "What time is it?" The male asked, rubbing his eyes. "Four fifteen" I answered, looking towards the door as Heeseung came inside. "You guys finished?" Heeseung asked looking around the empty walls. I nodded. "Niki just woke up...we'll do one last recheck before going downstairs" I looked at Niki who was walking towards the bathroom. "Don't take long the students are already lining up with the Professors downstairs" I said making the boy nod before entering the bathroom.

"By the way, when was Sunoo's train reaching Parock Station?" I asked. "In around thirty minutes? I don't know, maybe an hour more? Chorworth station is an hour away from here so that's an hour on the bus and Parock Station is also a few hours away from Chorworth Station" Heeseung answered.

"How's everything with his parents, by the way?" Jay asked, sitting on Sunoo's bed. I looked down remembering that I had promised Sunoo not to say anything to the others. "I don't know, he hasn't told me anything..." I lied, getting up as Niki came out of the bathroom. "Let's go downstairs...we don't wanna be late," I said, picking up my suitcase.

Soon, the six of us were downstairs, getting paired up with one of the Professors. "You three!" Professor Lee pointed at Jay, Heeseung, and Sunghoon, who were chatting together about something. "You go with Professor Nam" the three of them nodded before walking to the group of students that were lined in front of Professor Nam.

Since there were a lot of students, the school can't fit all of us into one bus so they split us into groups and each group has one Professor that's watching out for the students.

"The students left will be going with Professor Park," Professor Lee said before pulling out a list from his pocket. "If I call out your name get into your assigned bus, okay?" He said, loud enough for everyone in the hall to hear. The Professor then started calling out the students' names and one by one we all entered the busses we were assigned to.

As I took my seat, I looked at Niki and Jake who were in the same group as I was. They both sat beside me and Professor Park called out the students' names again, checking one last time. I looked out the window and my eyes widened.

The same male I saw yesterday morning, swaying his legs in the air as he sat on a tree branch, was now standing with three others at the edge of the forest. They were barely visible since they were behind a bunch of trees, but I somehow was still able to see them. Before I could say anything, however, they all ran back into the forest.

"Hey? Jungwon?" I shook my head as I heard Niki's voice calling my name. Jake looked out the window, confused at what I was looking at. "You okay? Did you see something? You suddenly went pale" the male questioned, concerned. "Uh- yeah- it was nothing I just thought I saw something..." I answered. "Hey, try to get some sleep right now, alright?" Niki said, patting his shoulder. I laughed a little before laying my head on his shoulder. "Is something wrong...?" The male then asked, his voice soft. "No...not really" I looked up at him as I saw a smile form on his lips. "If something's ever bothering you you can always talk to me about it, alright?" He said as I raised my head and sighed as I looked out the window again. I nodded and gave him a soft smile. "Thanks, Niki" the male smiled back at me before I pulled my earphones out of my pocket and plugged them into my music player. I then shut my eyes and rested my head on the window before I felt the bus start driving away.

- Author's pov

"The last bus left!" Kai said, running back into the forest. "Okay, but school grounds still aren't clear professors are wandering around" Beomgyu pointed out. Yeonjun nodded, looking up at the sky. "We could go home right now, our plan doesn't start till two more hours," Yeonjun said, looking at his four friends who nodded.

"Did you call Ateez?" Taehyun asked Yeonjun who nodded. "Are they all gonna come or...?" Soobin looked at the dark-haired male who shrugged. "Dunno, I sent a letter to Wooyoung and he just said they'll come. Didn't say if they were all gonna come or only some of them" Kai let out a quiet laugh as Yeonjun replied. "San's definitely coming though," he said, a grin on his lips.

Soobin looked at Yeonjun who suddenly became oddly quiet. "Is something bothering you?" The male asked, his eyes on Yeonjun. "Yeonjun?" The vampire looked up, locking eyes with Soobin. "No, I was just thinking of something..." he replied. Soobin sighed. "Well, whatever the thing is don't let it get to you, especially not now," Beomgyu said, his voice serious. "I won't..." Yeonjun replied, his eyes narrowing as the grin found its way back onto his lips. "...I'll make sure to give the humans exactly what they gave me"

- Sunoo's pov

Okay, Sunoo...you can do this...

I shut my eyes tight as I started picturing the front yard of my mum's house. I opened my eyes and my eyes widened. I did it! I was able to get good use out of my teleportation powers!! I looked around the front yard and smiled. Mum's probably still asleep right now...I'll surprise her by making breakfast!

I pulled the keys out of my pocket and I unlocked the front door. As I walked into the house the smile wasn't able to leave my lips. I locked the door behind me before heading straight to my room.

Unpacking all of my stuff, I started cleaning up my room before leaving to go check-up the house. I walked into the living room and opened the room's curtains, letting the sunlight in. I sighed as I looked at the time. "Five already..." I whispered, sitting down on the couch. "Mum's probably gonna wake up at six" I continued, looking down. As I got up from the couch I noticed a few envelopes on the small coffee table. Picking them up, I realized they were all our bills. I sighed and put them back down on the coffee table before walking into the small kitchen.

Okay...what do we make for breakfast...? I opened the fridge and looked around. I can't cook anyways...I'll just fry some eggs with some veggies.

I pulled out a few vegetables and eggs before closing the fridge door. After a while in the kitchen, I had managed to make something that wasn't a failure!

Setting up the table I suddenly heard footsteps coming from outside the kitchen.

The smile reappearing on my lips I started walking towards the kitchen door.

The moment my mum saw me her eyes lit up. "You're home!" She ran and hugged me tightly. I laughed, hugging her back. "I missed you!!" I exclaimed, pulling away and looking at her. "I made you breakfast!" I said, walking into the kitchen as she followed me, smiling. "Awww, Sunoo's finally learning how to cook!" She said, laughing. I scratched the back of my head as I pulled out a chair for her to sit. She sat down and I went to sit down on my chair.

"How have you been?" She asked as she picked up her chopsticks. "I've been good! How about you? I've missed you a lot!" I said, pouting. She smiled. "I've been doing good too! When did you arrive here? The school never sent me a letter saying you'll be back home!" She said, tilting her head to the side. I looked down at my plate then at the female again. "Yeah, it was an emergency decision...a student was killed two nights ago so they said in order to protect us they're sending us home" I answered. "I see..." she said as she took a bite from her egg, her eyes suddenly widening. "You've improved!" She called out, making me smile. "I've been sorta practicing in my free time" I confessed, letting out a shy laugh after that. My mum smiled. "Now you eat too before the food gets cold!" I nodded and started eating as well.

I was showing my mum the stuff we had been studying and telling her about school when all of a sudden a loud knock on the door cut us off. My mum jumped up, startled. Knowing exactly who was behind the door my smile faded and I looked towards my mum who was getting up. "Don't go answer it...he wants me..." I said, looking down. "No, you go hide, I'll open for him and when he won't find you he'll leave," she said, the loud knocks still going. "But mum-" my mum raised her index finger to her lips. "Just do as I say" I sighed and nodded. My mum then flashed me a smile before walking out to open the door.

I ran out of my room, heading towards the attic. I heard the front door being opened and then I heard his yells. Like always. This was always happening.

"Where's he? Lina! Where is Sunoo?!"

"I don't know! He isn't ho-"

"Don't lie to me. I know he's here!"

I heard footsteps coming from underneath me.

"Where are you going?! You can't go inside!"

"Minhyung!"

I didn't want to just sit here like I've always done. I don't want my mum to fight him again. I looked around me looking for something I might be able to use when my eyes landed on an old phone. Rushing towards it I connected it to power and I dialed the only number that I knew would help us.

I closed my eyes and I teleported downstairs, where I saw him looking around. I turned to face my mum giving her an apologetic look before I spoke up.

"I'm not gonna go with you," I said, my voice loud and clear. The male turned around as he heard my voice. "Sunoo! Dear! I was looking for you!" I scoffed. "Well you found me so you might as well leave, don't you think?" My father froze at my response. "I am not just looking for you though!" He continued. I sighed. "Don't try. I'm not going with you" my father looked down and then looked back up at me.

"Listen, I've had enough of your bullshit. Why are you living here with this piece of crap who can't even pay her bills! You can come live with me! I'll give you all you've ever wanted!" I scoffed. "Everything I've ever wanted? I don't want anything from you but to leave us alone. And how dare you call her that?! At least she fucking cares for me!" I locked eyes with him as I started fueling with anger. However, before I could do anything else the male used his air powers to throw me back, making me hit the wall with a thud. My mum was about to run towards me to help but he stopped her as he came walking towards me.

I held onto my right arm as I tried to get up. He scoffed. "You're so weak...one hit and you're gone!" He laughed. I bit my bottom lip. "Minhyung, leave him alone!" The male turned his head to my mum who had started crying. He laughed as he walked over to my mum. "Crying again? What did I even do this time?" He muttered, grinning. Before he could do anything I shot at him, making him turn to me. I then got up and looked at him. "Leave us alone, or else I'm calling the police," I said, getting a hold of the old phone beside me. His eyes widened and I walked closer to him.

"I hate you...and I'm never going to live with you. So it would be really nice if you left" I said.

I closed my eyes as I suddenly felt a sharp pain hitting my left cheek.

At that same moment, police sirens were heard in our street, the sound getting louder every second. I opened my eyes and I saw the male's now terrified face. As we heard knocks on the door his face turned pale. I was going to open the door when he grabbed onto me, stopping me from moving. "Nice try," I said, shutting my eyes and teleporting to the front door where I opened the door and two policemen came in. My mother looked at me confused, I just gave her a reassuring nod. The police arrested my father, finally taking him away. We were finally left alone.

"You alright...?" My mother asked, checking me for bruises. I nodded, stopping her. "I'm fine" I flashed her a smile and hugged her. "We're gonna be alright...you don't have to be afraid anymore" I whispered into her ear as she hugged me back tightly.

"Everything'll be alright now"

- Jungwon's pov

I felt someone shaking my arm slightly as they called out my name. I opened my eyes and I saw Jake smiling at me. "Come on, we're at the station," the male said as I sat up. I watched the students walk out of the bus as Jake passed me my suitcase. Looking out the window I noticed that it had started snowing. "Come on!" The male smiled again before getting off the bus. I sighed before following him out.

The station was busy like it always was. We followed Professor Park through the station, heading towards our platform. People of all kinds were getting onto their trains. Magicals...non-magicals...everyone was too busy with their own life, not paying attention to their surroundings.

"Jungwon!" I turned to Professor Park as he called me. "Come on! Get on!" The male called. I hadn't realized we had already reached our platform. I nodded before following the students into the train.

I got into one of the coaches and started looking for an empty compartment as I walked through the narrow hallways. "Let's sit here!" Niki said, getting into a compartment and taking a seat next to the window. "Let's save some seats for the other three" Jake said as I took a seat next to Niki. "Usually we're the ones that come later," I said as I noticed the three walking at the train's entrance from outside. The three then came in and Jake waved to them, making them notice us and come over to us. The three greeted us before taking their seats.

Jay sat in front of Niki and placed his backpack on the table in between the two seats. Sunghoon took his seat between Jay and Jake. Heeseung sat beside me, placing his backpack beside him on the floor. "What time is it?" Niki asked laying his head on the table. "Six fifteen" I answered, checking my watch. "It's so early and I haven't had that much sleep but I'm wide awake!" Jay said, looked out the window and laughing a little.

"Wanna play something?" Heeseung asked, pulling out a small wooden box from his backpack. "Sure!" Niki replied as he examined the small box. Heeseung opened the box and pulled out a deck of cards and a small ziplock bag that contained a bunch of silver coins. "Spellscape!" Sunghoon, exclaimed, his eyes wide. "You still play this game?" Jay asked, astonished. Heeseung chuckled before giving a nod in response. I looked as the male pulled the cards out from their thin paper box. "I haven't played this game in ages..." I said, watching the male as he pulled out the five wizard cards. "I haven't even played it at all!" Jake said, looking at Heeseung. "Really?" Heeseung looked back at Jake, surprised. "Neither have I" Niki confessed, his eyes on the Aussie. Heeseung laughed before starting to shuffle the cards. "Well, the rules might seem kinda complicated in the beginning but it's actually really easy once you get used to it! It's also really fun" Heeseung said. "Do you want me to explain as we play or do I just explain everything now?" the male asked, before deciding to explain the rules as we go on with the game.

"So, there are the spell cards, the red ones, and the obstacle cards, the blue ones" Heeseung started, pointing towards the two differently colored cards. They were colored from the inside on the outside they both were a dark green color.

"Spells are used to get past the obstacles" he continued as he shuffled the cards. "Each player gets five cards but some people like to play with different amounts of cards coz it doesn't really matter," the male said, passing out five cards to each of us. "Some players might have all obstacles or just all spells because the cards are shuffled and given out so you can't really pick your cards" I picked my cards up, seeing I had three obstacle cards and two spell ones.

"Then the dealer passes 25 coins to each player. The coins are used to buy wizard cards" Heeseung opened the small ziplock back and started putting the coins into groups of 25 with the help of Jay. "The wizard cards can help you pass an obstacle when you don't have any spells that match that obstacle" Heeseung explained.

Now that the game was all set up it was time to start. "Niki, you go first since you're the youngest," I said, looking at him. The boy nodded and put down an obstacle card. "Now, take one card from the leftover shuffle," Sunghoon said, passing Niki a card from the shuffled pile. "You always have to have the same amount of cards you started with" Jay explained, getting a nod from Niki. "Now Jay's turn" our heads turned towards Jay as he looked through his cards. "When you have to go past an obstacle you can't just use any spell card," I said, picking up the card that was on the center of the table. "The card has to match the obstacle. For example, Niki just placed the fire obstacle. On the card, it says that a protection bubble spell can help and that would give you four points but if you use the second option, the water spell, you can earn six points" I explained putting the card back on the center of the table.

"What happens if you don't have those two spell cards?" Jake asked. "You have to either buy a wizard card, which will act like the spell card. It will also give you twice the amount of points" Jay answered. "One wizard card is for twenty coins. If you don't want to buy a wizard you can buy one of the shuffle cards for one coin and try your luck coz you don't know it might also be an unhelpful card" the male continued, putting down his cards face down onto the table. "If you don't wanna do any of those two options you lose some points like I am right now! But now, Niki will get the points I lost since I couldn't pass his obstacle" He finished, checking the card in the center of the table. "Minus three points," he said, looking up at Heeseung who grabbed the small notebook beside him and wrote down Jay's and Niki's current scores. "Now, I have negative three points and Niki has three!"

Jay then placed an obstacle card and pulled a card out of the shuffle pile, replacing the card he just threw away. "Dark Nights," Sunghoon said as he looked through his cards as he was next. The male then placed a fire spell, earning himself two points. "Your turn!" Sunghoon called out to Jake placing out an Obstacle card. "Namyangs" Jake mumbled, his eyes scanning his cards. The male then pulled out a spell card. "Protection bubble! You earn eight points!" Heeseung said, noting down the scores. Jake then placed an obstacle card which Heeseung couldn't pass, making him lose two points. Heeseung looked at the pile of cards in the center of the table then looked at his cards again before placing his obstacle card.

The vampire obstacle card...

I blinked my eyes twice as the vision of the blood-drinker from a day ago came back into my mind.

The way he was smiling as he swung his legs in the air. The way he looked at me with those bright red eyes...

"Jungwon? It's your turn, come on!"

Shaking my head, I looked at Heeseung before I got back to the game. I scanned my cards realizing that I had no spell card to help me pass the obstacle. I looked over to the five wizard cards on the table. I bit my lip and I put my cards down, moving twenty coins towards the center of the table.

"I'm buying wizard Elvis's card"

Jay looked at me surprised. "You never buy cards, usually," he said, his eyes wide as he passed me the wizard card. "Well yeah thought of going for a change today" I took the card and placed it on the pile of cards. "That's twenty points for me," I said, turning my head to Heeseung who was noting down the new scores. "You're in the lead!" Niki declared, looking at the scores. "Well it's your turn now," I said, adding an obstacle card to the pile in the middle of the table before the game continued.

"Oh! We're moving!" Niki exclaimed, looking out the window as the train slowly started moving away from the platform. "Who's turn is it now?" Jay asked, looking around. A few minutes have passed and we were still continuing our game. Jay played his turn, then Sunghoon and then Jake. After him was Heeseung and then I played my turn before giving the turn back to Niki.

"Seven points," Sunghoon said, reading the card. Heeseung wrote down the score before adding it to the previous total. "Oh!" Heeseung's eyes widened. "Your total is 102 points! You win!" Heeseung declared. "Jungwon came in second with 98 points Niki third with 95 Jay and Jake tied with 90 while I have 87," he said, reading out the scores.

It had been thirty minutes since the train started moving away from Chorworth station. I looked outside the window at the snow-covered forest as Heeseung collected the cards before putting them into their box. The male then put all the coins back into the ziplock bag and put the game back into his backpack.

"Oh look! It's Mashiho!" My head turned to where the voice came from as I heard Lee Yohan, one of the students, call out. I looked outside our compartment and I saw Mashiho and his friend Jihoon coming into the coach. "We were just talking about you!" Yohan said, getting up from his seat, leaving his compartment, and going up to Mahsiho before playfully hitting his shoulder. "You know..."

"...About how cruel you were to just watch your friend die instead of helping him..." the male said, the cheerful voice now replaced with a dark one. I looked back at Mashiho who tensed up. Jihoon was about to step forward when Mashiho stopped him. "Let's just go," he said as he came closer to our compartment.

"So now you're leaving?" Yohan asked, turning around to Mashiho who continued walking to the other end of the coach. "What a coward...I guess that's the reason you couldn't save Asahi...you were too scared" the male snickered turning to his friends and laughing. Mashiho paused in his spot in the middle of the corridor and his hands formed into fists. "It isn't my fault Asahi's gone," the boy said, not moving. Jihoon looked down and nudged Mashiho's arm. "Let's go, I don't want us getting into trouble because of him," he said but mashiho just ignored him and turned around to face Yohan. "Stop making me feel guilty..." he muttered, now walking back to Yohan.

"I would've saved Asahi if I was able to, but I couldn't. What happened wasn't my fault. I am not a coward and I am not cruel, so please just leave me alone and go on with your day"

Yohan scoffed as Jihoon and Mashiho then left the coach without another word.

"Yeah, right! Murderer!"

I looked back at the five who were sitting beside me and sighed. "He's messed up...Yohan, I mean" Niki whispered, his face disgusted. I nodded, agreeing with the male. "How can you even say such a thing to someone who lost their friend just a day ago?!" He continued, whisper-yelling as he turned his head to look outside the window, frustrated. I looked down as I sighed. "Some people are just heartless"

I turned to Heeseung who shut the door of our compartment before turning to us again. "We've still got four hours what do you guys wanna do?" He asked, sitting back. I yawned as I stretched my arms. "I'm sleepy, I'll probably sleep" I answered. "Wanna get some snacks from the first coach?" Jake asked, his eyes wide. "Ooh! Yeah, sure, why not!" Heeseung replied. "I'll come with you to help you carry them," I said, getting up. "You said you wanted to sleep though," Jake said, leaving his seat. "It's alright, at the mention of snacks I won't be able to sleep!" I laughed. Jake opened the door to our compartment and went out to the corridor before I followed him out.

"We're on the fifth coach right now," Jake said, looking to his right. "Snacks should be that way!" The male turned around to his left before he started walking to the exit of the coach. I smiled as I started walking behind him. I looked out the window at the snow that was still falling non-stop.

"Hey! Watch out!" I turned around to my right where I saw Yohan, who looked annoyed. "I'm sorry!" I apologized, giving the male an apologetic look as I realized I must have bumped into the male while I wasn't looking. The boy scoffed and sat back down in his seat. "Yeah, whatever," he said, rolling his eyes. I sighed and looked back at Jake who was standing beside the coach's door. The both of us then left this coach entering the next one.

We continued till we reached the coach where the trolly lady was. My eyes widened as I looked at the stacked boxes. I went over to some of the open boxes and grabbed some bags of crisps as Jake was still looking around. I noticed the male reaching into his pocket before looking up. "Shit-" I looked at Jake who looked down on the floor. "I forgot my wallet on my seat" the male sighed before looking at me. "I'll go get it fast and you can just wait here," he said before waving and running off. I put the bags of crisps down and looking at the door as it shut.

"Hey! You! If you aren't gonna buy anything then get out! The place's getting too crowded!" The trolly lady yelled. I looked back at the door and sighed before getting out to the next coach. I looked outside at the view as the snow continued falling, making the forest look completely white. Getting bored I decided to walk into the next few coaches since they were empty. I was looking around when suddenly the train stopped. I looked around, confused. "Maybe it's coz of the snow" I mumbled, looking outside again.

After a minute Jake came into the coach I was in, confused. "Why'd you come here?" The male asked, looking around the empty coach. We were standing in the coach before the control coach, where the bathrooms were. "It's pretty" he suddenly said, his lips parting as he looked outside at the snow through the large windows. "It sure is," I said, smiling.

"Let's go get snacks now, we don't wanna be late" Jake said, shifting his gaze away from the window. I nodded, agreeing with Jake. I was about to turn around when the control coach's door suddenly opened. Jake turned around as he heard the door's sound. The male who came out of the room froze suddenly. "Uh, let's go?" I said, turning around towards Jake, who was in his spot, not moving. "Jake?" The male stood right in front of me, petrified. "Behind you..." he whispered, his voice cold all of a sudden. I turned around and my eyes widened as I looked into the control coach. My gaze quickly shifted towards the male that just came out of it. "Jake, let's go" I blurted out fast as the male started raising his head. Pulling Jake's arm I turned around and started walking away.

"Excuse me-"

I froze in my spot as I felt a hand being placed on my shoulder from behind me. I turned around, feeling my heartbeat quicken.

"Where do you two think you're going?"

The red eyes glowed as the male smiled, his fangs showing. I turned back around, not wasting a second before running for my life. Leaving the coach, I shut the door behind me as I and Jake continued running.

We were about to reach the door to exit this coach when the male suddenly appeared right in front of us.

"He can teleport..." I muttered under my heavy breath. Turning around again, Jake's arm still in my grip, I started running the other way. However, another vampire was suddenly in front of us again. I turned around, having no way out now. We were being cornered by two vampires, with no way out. I looked at Jake as I let go of his arm and looked back at the first vampire who was chasing us. The male smiled, throwing the cap he was wearing onto one of the seats.

Flashbacks started running through my mind again. The same vampire who I saw two days ago was now standing in front of me, ready to attack. I bit my lip as my heartbeat quickened.

"Things are gonna have to get dirty, hm?"
