V

I sat on the green grass, laughing with my friends. We had officially made the park near our houses the study spot, the one that we would go to after grabbing something from the nearby Starbucks. Classic teenagers, I know.

"Guys, we need to focus. Our history teacher is going to kill us if we score low on another test," I spoke up, feeling a little anxious for tomorrow's mid-term.

"Come on! He needs to cut you a little slack. And besides, a little bit of a low blow to our records isn't going to do anything, right guys?" MK said with a confidence that I couldn't mime.

I smiled anxiously and said, "Well, it might not for you guys. But I. . . I'm still classified as the Ambassador of Monsters, and I need to get back to that job as soon as I can."

"Frisk, you need to stop putting so much pressure on yourself," Chara leaned over to me, the condensation from her cup making me shiver a little bit, "You just recovered from being frozen alive, are recovering memory, are relearning years of information and still keep up the little perfect act. That is beyond impressive. If I were you I would have probably shut everyone out and shut down. Hell, I wouldn't have left my room for the past year."

I shrugged her away, "My best isn't enough for the government, apparently."

"If they are pressuring you, I'll get the King and Queen to address them, and they won't be pleased." Asriel put on a posh act for a moment.

"Oh, yeah, like we wouldn't be bailing you out of jail for trying to punch a government official or something," I jabbed him, making everyone laugh.

"That's the truth, but the path I said sounds more appealing," We continued to laugh.

After a few more minutes of joking around my phone buzzed and I tapped out for a second to see what it was.

My eye's widened and I looked at the group, who all looked concerned now.

"What is it, Frisk?" MK leaned in towards me, trying to glance at my phone.

"There's a glitch in the timeline," I paused for a second, still terrified, "And they're in this park."

"What?!" Chara shot up, having a strong fear of glitches since her experience she had told me about.

The rest of us stood up, quickly packing and grabbing our bags.

"What's the glitch?" Chara asked quickly, sounding panicked.

"I-I don't know," I could feel myself on the verge of a panic attack, "T-T-They just kind of. . . Appeared."

"Call someone!" Asriel demanded.

I nodded and brought my phone back out, asking, "Who should I call?" My voice was loud and high pitched right now.

"Uhhh. . . Call Sans, and then Alphys. She can try and help us defeat the glitch, or get rid of them, and then Sans can just. . . He's a badass, he can help us or something," Asriel tried to come up with a coherent plan.

"Good enough for me," I said as I brought the phone to my ear, trying to calm my breathing.

Chara and Asriel were periodically checking around and MK was beside me, slightly pressuring his body against me in a mock hug.

It did calm me down, oddly enough.

"Sans? Hey, I, uh, t-there's a glitch, in the timeline, a-a-and it's at the park. And, um, so are MK, and Chara, and Asriel, and, c-could you--?"

He cut me off, "I'm there."

He appeared in front of us a few seconds later, hanging up the call. He seemed tense already. I looked at him with sympathy, still feeling bad about yesterday.

"Where are they?" He asked.

"I-I don't know. J-Just in the park, somewhere. . ." My voice trailed off.

I felt small and weak, knowing I didn't have the mental or physical strength to try and help. That was something that got to me and really easily, too.

Chara and Asriel fell behind Sans and we all came to huddle in a group.

"Awww, isn't this adorable?" A voice called, sounding like it was coming from all around.

I recognized that voice.

"Nightmare. . ." I said faintly, feeling myself freeze on the spot.

"Finally! Someone gives me a little credit." He emerged from around the tree right beside us, making us all scream and scatter.

Sans teleported to right in front of him, his eye flaming brighter than I had ever seen before, "Leave right now, before you have a bad time."

"I'm not here to fight," Nightmare replied in a sly tone, "I'm here to check up on Frisk. Poor, forgetful, weak, lonely, Frisk. How was death? Hmm? What did it feel like?" He looked directly at me.

"Leave right now," I repeated what Sans had said earlier.

"Now, why would I do that? I just got here. I want to chat." He slowly started walking forward.

Sans didn't move an inch, "If you don't leave in three seconds, I will not stop my attacks."

Nightmare grinned wider, tilting his head a little bit, "Oh, really? And what makes you think you can defeat me? You couldn't the last time."

The last time. . .?

"You were the one who killed me!" The memory came flooding back all of a sudden, giving me a killer migraine.

"Look who suddenly remembers."

I looked away from him for a moment, wincing at the pounding in my head.

"Y-You leave her alone!" MK suddenly spoke up, taking a warning step towards the melting skeleton.

"And are you going to stop me?" He asked in a simple tone, crossing his arms sassily.

"No, but I will."

Sans summoned a gaster blaster and launched it at Nightmare, who dodged with ease.

"Oh, really? You think that you can defeat me this time? I have only gotten stronger, Sans. And I am only here with one goal, plus the one from before."

"And what might those be?" Asriel asked, his tone hostile.

"For Frisk, and for Chara."

Chara let out a muffled scream behind me and I straightened myself out, plastering a frown on my face. I glared daggers at Nightmare, "You are not touching a hair on her head."

"Someone's feeling confident!" He laughed.

"Someone's feeling angry," I bolted towards him, somehow knocking him down, pinning him on the grass.

"Get off me, you rat!" He insulted, struggling to get me off of him.

I struggled to keep him down, "Stay down, you murderer!"

I yelped as he pushed me off, grabbing my hair. My hand shot up to meet his, trying to pry his skeletal hand away from my short brown hair. Sans froze mid attack and everyone else froze.

"I will kill her, right here, right now," He threatened, bringing my head up.

"But. . ." He forced me to look at him, "That would be a waste. You contain a power you do not understand, and secrets that you couldn't imagine."

My eye's widened as I remembered what was whispered to me yesterday.

He leaned forward, whispering in my ear, "Oh, yes, Frisk. I've been here for quite a while. I've been watching for a while. Don't underestimate me. And keep your friends close. Because one of them will be gone soon."

I pushed him away from me, his grip on my hair being gone. He stood up as I scrambled away, Chara helping me up. I stood in her embrace for a few seconds.

"I guess you all get the message, right?"

He turned around and started walking away, "Make sure to watch your back. Keep your friends and family close. Don't trust strangers. Because I am nowhere, yet everywhere."

Nightmare paused for a moment and made eye contact with all of us before saying, "Until we meet again."

And disappeared, only leaving dead grass behind. Chara and I split apart. I looked at Sans, who calmed down a little bit. I looked at MK and ran over, hugging him. I cried into his shoulder and he held me back, letting me cry.

I could feel Sans' gaze on me but ignored it, wanting to be in the arms of my friends right now.

"He's. . . He's coming after--H-He's coming after me and Frisk! H-He's targeting us!" I heard Chara's distressed shouting and turned to see what was happening.

Asriel was awkwardly side hugging her as she shook, hyperventilating. I realized that she was right for doing that. In fact, we were the only two panicking. Asriel and MK just seemed dazed and concerned, and Sans just seemed. . . Mad.

"Chara, I promise he won't get to you. I. . . I won't let him." I was determined to keep this promise.

"Y-You can't promise that, F-F-Frisk. N-No one can. . ." She was slowly calming down from hyperventilating.

"Guys, it's about to rain." MK was looking up and it was indeed about to rain.

MK and I split and I ran to grab my bag, preparing to run to my house. We all quickly split.

"Frisk!" Sans called, I glanced over my shoulder to see him running after me.

I let out a small side before he appeared beside me, putting his hands in his pockets.

"I need to talk to you. I-I. . . I need to ask you something."

I stopped walking and so did he, "Sans, I can't have this conversation right now."

I pushed to get away from him, picking up the pace a little bit, but stopped as he grabbed my wrist roughly. He pulled me towards him and I looked away from him, not wanting to appear weak.

"Do you love him, Frisk?"

I didn't respond. I wasn't ready to answer that question.

"Answer me." He demanded in his low tone.

"I. . . I don't know. . ." I answered honestly, my voice small.

"Here's a better question," He moved so that I was looking at him, "Do you know how much I love you?"
