Wynter stared at himself in the mirror. He didn't know what he was supposed to look at. Was it his dull, lifeless, tired grey and brown eyes? (He often received fascinated glances because of his different coloured eyes but personally Wynter didn't find Heterchromia that interesting)His drooping and dark eyelashes? His tanned and sunken skin? His chapped, pale pink lips? His messy and untameable dark brown hair?

Wynter had stopped caring about his appearance long back. He bit his lower lip and closed his eyes with a tired exhale when a junior from his high school walked into the washroom. Wynter shouldn't be angry, it was the mall. People from his high school came here all the time.

Before the junior could look at his face, Wynter quickly turned on the tap and held his palms in a cup under the gushing water before pretending like he was washing his face. Truth was he was just covering his face.

He heard the boy texting on his phone. When the boy didn't pay attention to him, Wynter stepped back with a shaky breath of relief. He watched the boy styling his hair for a second and then started towards the door. When was the last time he had styled his hair? When was the last time he had run a proper comb through it instead of just fingers?

Wynter turned around the corner of the door, and his body bumped into someone. The force made him stumble back a step. He laughed to himself, not looking up at the person he just muttered a Sorry and tried to brush past. A finger tapped gently against his shoulder. He looked back.

Julian smiled at the wild-haired boy who had bumped into him. Finally up close, he could decipher the colour of his eyes. The left eye was a dark silvery grey and the right one was a dark brown. Julian knew he was staring and he knew Wynter knew too.

He couldn't help himself. If someone had told him earlier that the dark-haired boy had such beautiful eyes then perhaps he would've known what to expect. He wouldn't have been caught off guard and he certainly wouldn't have kept on staring into his eyes like an obsessed freak.

Wynter tilted his head to the side, raising his eyebrows in question at the green-eyed boy. Wynter knew him. He was Julian Sanders. The same Julian Sanders who had unknowingly saved his ass from detention.

Julian was the kind of guy who'd help people with their homework's just minutes before class started. And when he'd seen Wynter's half attempted geometry worksheet he had without a word smiled and written down the formulas at the corner of the page before walking off to a volley ball player who kept on calling out for him. Brea was her name. She was always hanging off his arm.

Julian helped so many people in a day, he probably didn't even remember helping Wynter.

" Julian. You're Julian? What's up?" Wynter jutted out his chin, crossing his arms loosely.

He watched the other boy's eyes widen a little in surprise. Why the surprise? Wynter thought. Everyone knew Julian Sanders. Everybody liked him. Nobody could ever hate him. Not with those deep mint coloured eyes and wavy sheets of strawberry blond hair. An unusual combination but a treat to the eyes.

Julian's tongue darted out to lick his lips nervously. He hadn't expected him to know his name. Especially when Julian didn't know his. He tried to smile " Yeah...I...yeah. I'm Julian. Nice to meet you. You are?"

Wynter was amused. He could see how nervous Julian was. He kept on rubbing his neck and licking his lips. His green eyes flicking around, not stopping until Wynter decided to speak "It's Wynter"

Julian looked confused. He looked out of the windows at the auburn leaves twirling around in the air, dancing and rounding around tree barks. Landing onto benches and the wilting grass. " Uh I'm pretty sure it's Autumn"

Wynter shook his head at the boy, smiling a little " My name. My name is Wynter. Anyway, what can I help you with?"

Julian didn't have the time to apologise. He realised he had more concerning matters to take care of. For example his cousin who had just walked into the washroom.

Ren had asked him to tag along with him to the mall so that he could help him flirt with his crush. Judging by how he was now cooped up in the washroom out of nervousness, it wasn't hard to see that it wasn't going well. Wynter raised an eyebrow " Well?"

Julian cleared his throat " Have you seen a blond guy walk in? He's probably styling his hair—"

Wynter nodded " Yes. He's a mess. I heard him give a pep talk to his reflection. Flirting gone wrong?"

" You have no idea" Julian mumbled under his breath before looking up at Wynter " Thanks. I'll see you at school"

Wynter stuffed a hand in his pocket and lifted the other in goodbye. Julian nodded in return and raced into the washroom. Ren was still talking to his reflection, waving around his hands, cursing at himself. When he saw Julian walk in he turned around and threw up his hands in the air. " She hates me"

Julian nodded in agreement " You shouldn't have forced the flowers into her hands. She clearly didn't want them. Also she's allergic to pollen. Remember last Valentines Day? Andrew West had her locker stuffed with five types of flowers. She fainted and her lips started to swell and they had to take her to the hospital. She wouldn't stop sneezing—"

Ren interrupted his cousin " How the hell was I supposed to know all this?"

Julian shrugged " People always know these things about their crushes. Hobbies. Allergies. Favourite colour. The drink they order at Starbucks. Their class schedule"

" How the hell was I supposed to know all this?" Ren whined into his palms, collapsing against the wall.

Julian just laughed and squeezed his cousin's shoulder comfortingly " Now you know"
