You stood on the balcony and stared at the stars shining brightly in the sky. Your mind then drifted to the conversation you and Haruka had earlier.
Flashback
"Are you ready to face him yet?" Haruka asked in concern.
"Why shouldn't I be? I've already moved on. Let those bygones be bygones." you said, sipping your drink.
"I just don't want you to get hurt," Haruka stated. You smiled at her. Although Haruka could sometimes get slightly overboard with her emotions, she always shows great care and concern for her loved ones and friends.
You've reached out to Haruka's hand and seized it. "I'll be fine, Haruka. If we were to meet, we would remain as friends."
Haruka sighed. "If you say so."
"You could use it for your next manga inspiration if you like." you joked around, trying to lighten the mood.
You could see Haruka's eyes light up. "Hmmm...you're right!" she began to take out a notebook and jotted down the possible plots.
"I'll take the copyright fee, though." you teased.
"Heyyyyy...no fair!" Haruka pouted. You two then burst out laughing.
"I miss talking to you like this. We've all been so busy to catch up." Haruka confessed.
You nodded. "But technically, it's because of you." you accused Haruka in a friendly way.
"How is it because of me?" Haruka acted dramatically with a hand on her chest.
"Haruka-sensei...you're too busy with the newly published manga that you forget about your first loyal fan. I'm saddddd," you stated, mirroring Haruka's previous dramatic action.
"Well..well..." Haruka stuttered, trying to come up with an argument. Both ended up chuckling again.
Once the laughter died down and silence engulfed them, Haruka turned and looked at you.
"I meant it earlier, Y/N," she stated.
You stared back at her with a pair of curious eyes.
"I don't want to see you get hurt," Haruka stated. You gave Haruka a warm smile.
"I know. For your sake, I promise not to get hurt. Thanks for looking out for me."
End of flashback
You sighed heavily.
Just then, the doorbell rang. You looked up at the clock on the wall. It was close to midnight.
Who could it be? You wondered as you walked to the door and peeked through the small hole.
Tsu-kun.
You hesitated. You contemplated whether or not you should let him in. You wondered why he is even here in the first place.
"Y/N, I know you're in there." Tsubasa softly stated.
Your eye-widened, not knowing how to respond. I was mentally prepared like I told Haruka I would be.
You bit your lip and slowly reached for the lock. But paused midway.
"I'm really sorry for disturbing you this late. But if you're free tomorrow, can you meet me at the old coffee shop in the morning? I'll wait for you." Tsubasa said, and with that, he slowly retreated.
I'll wait for you. I'll wait for you. You repeated that as if it was a chant. A spell that unlocked all those hidden memories.
You bitterly chuckled. How ironic. Saying those words as if you will fulfill them.
You walked back and closed the balcony door. Slowly approached your bed and turned off the light.
I won't forget you for what you did, Tsubasa. I might forgive. Might.
With that, sleep had overtaken you.

Tsubasa's POV
I walked to our usual place. As I reached there, I was splashed with the strong aroma of coffee. I took a deep breath in. Oh, how I missed this smell. I remember back then, we would come to hear at least three times a week. Way back in high school.
I spotted an empty table by the window and took a sit there. I was actually very nervous. My mind couldn't help but think about whether or not she would show up. There's a high chance she might not. But I still hope she will come.
In the distance, I could see a familiar figure walking down the street. I quickly stood and went to greet her.
"Y/N, you came," I said, feeling relief. It was an awkward atmosphere. Though I wanted to hug her, I knew I couldn't.
She just nodded. We went to the counter to order our drinks and returned to the table to wait.
The whole time she was avoiding my gaze. I know I can't blame her for it.
"So what did you want to see me for? You have 15 minutes. I have to head to work after." she stated, looking at her watch.
I'd clear my throat, sensing her 'not-so-friendly' aura.
"I...I just want to catch up with you. See how you were doing?" I awkwardly phrase my statement.
End of Tsubasa's POV
See how I was doing...what do you think? You stated in your mind. Before you could respond, you saw your drink come out and were about to get up and grab it. However, Tsubasa beat you to it and handed it to you.
"Thank you," you murmured.
"So. what you've been up to?" he carefully worded his question.
"Nothing. Just the usual life of any typical adult. Get to work. Get off work. Go home. Eat. Sleep. And repeat." you replied robotically.
"Oh." was all he said, feeling a bit disappointed.
"How about you?" you found yourself asking him. You wanted to face-palm yourself as you could see his eyes sparkle for a moment.
"I've been well. Just finished up my MBA degree. I came back to help with my family's business." Tsubasa explained, but he wanted to punch himself with the last sentence. Damn it...why did I mention that
"I see." was your only comment before taking another sip. An awkward silence embraced the atmosphere. Tsubasa cleared his throat and was about to ask another question.
"Are you currently...seeing anyone?" he asked out of curiosity. The question took you back. Part of you wanted to tell him why you should see someone else when you will get hurt. Part of you wanted to lie to give his hope up.
"I don't see how that is any of your concern." you found yourself coldly answering his question. You could see the statement hurt him but awkwardly laughed it off.
"Yeh..you're right. Gomen. That was too out of the line." he apologized.
"It's alright. I've got to go, though," you stated, glancing at your watch.
"Let me drop you off." he quickly offered.
"No need. I parked my car closed by. Thank you for the offer, though." You gave him a small smile. Though it was fake, Tsubasa couldn't help but feel a slight joy that at least you're willing to give him a reaction.
"We'll talk soon again?" he asked. His eyes stared deep into your soul. You hesitated for a bit. Wondering how you should respond.
"We'll see. Ja nei, Tsubasa."
Tsubasa. She called me Tsubasa. He chanted in his mind. Well...as long as it is not Inuzuka. He sighed in his mind.
He watched as you disappeared out of his sight once again.
Y/N...I'll gain back your trust. I'll make it up to you. So please forgive me.
To Be Continued...
What do you think of this chapter? It took a while cause I've only had time to write out the story at night. I hope this AU-style type of sentaixreader won't bore you out too much. I know most readers prefer the typical action sentai stuff. But for Donbrothers, I felt like there were too many characters and scenarios that rewriting it would kind of ruin the original story plot.
Anyhoo, leave your comment down below and let me know!
Til' next time,
Adieu~~~
