THURSDAY 11:02 AM

Felicia Donahue was the epitome of discretion. It was one of the qualities that made her the perfect secretary for an insanely wealthy businessman such as Alex Carter. Patience was another quality she could easily claim. It was something that Alex, with his "my way or the highway" attitude, lacked. Despite his reputation for being a ruthless businessman, Alex Carter was adored by many. Not just because of his business acumen but because of his looks. Even Felicia had to admit that he was handsome with his dark hair, strong cheekbones, and eyes that could easily rival the hue of a stormy ocean when he wasn't in a good mood. Now was one of those moments. Felicia quietly entered her employer's office and waited by the door until he noticed her.

"Abby, I told you our company is more than capable of giving you a new job," Alex Carter's voice was as stretched as a rubber band ready to snap. He was massaging circles into his right temple as he sat behind the huge mahogany desk that he'd purchased two weeks prior.

Abby Redding, Alex's girlfriend and personal assistant, shot him a dubious look. "Don't think I don't know that this job is still a charity position. Even your mom mentioned that it was time I took on new duties."

"Since when did you start caring what my mother thinks?" Alex grumbled.

"Since I met her." Abby crossed her arms and bit her bottom lip. "I know what the other staff members say about me. They think I only got this position because I'm your girlfriend. I don't want that kind of reputation."

Alex frowned as he noticed Abby rubbing her wrist. She no longer wore a blessings bracelet, but she'd still touch her wrist when she thought of something to be grateful for.

Alex grinned. "You weren't given this job because you were my girlfriend. I hired you because of all the candidates at Pathways, you had a degree and you told me that two plus two equals four, remember?"

Abby bit back her smile. "Served you right for being so arrogant while conducting an interview."

"Abby, I like having you near me."

"I know but after everything I've been through, I need to rely on myself. I have a degree that I worked hard for. I want to use it. I don't want to take advantage of you just because we're dating."

"But I want you to take advantage of me." Alex leaned forward. "Right now if you're willing."

Felicia had heard enough. She cleared her throat and held her blank expression in place while Abby gasped and Alex grunted.

"Felicia, you scared Abby. She's not used to your ninja-like ways. Next time make some noise," he said turning to Abby, "I swear Felicia must've worked as a spy before coming to my company."

Abby rolled her eyes and smiled at Felicia, who was dressed in a designer black dress and heels. "Hi, Felicia."

"Hello, Ms. Redding."

"Just call her Abby," Alex said, taking the red file Felicia handed him. "She won't mind."

"I won't," Abby agreed.

Alex was looking at Abby while he pointed at Felicia. "Ask Felicia if you don't believe me about this being a great place to work. Most people would do anything to have your job. Felicia hasn't even taken a sick day or leave. That's how dedicated she is to this job."

Abby turned to Felicia, eyes wide. "No sick days...or leave?"

"That's right." Felicia nodded.

"See?" Alex smiled.

"I see something alright. I see what a slave-driver you are. Alex, why won't you let Felicia take a vacation?" Abby asked.

"It's fine, Ms. Redding. The workload here is a bit much for anyone else to take on," Felicia explained.

"Or is he too much to deal with," Abby muttered, pointing at Alex.

The corner of Felicia's mouth turned upward.

"Alex, if you let Felicia take a vacation, I can handle her work. Then maybe the other employees will think I do more than just keep you company when you're bored."

Alex frowned. "I don't know..."

"Don't you trust me?" Abby asked.

"Of course I do but we still haven't secured a spokesperson for the new CallaTech Digi-watch. It's a project I've been overseeing."

"I'll help you with as much as I can and when she gets back she can finish up," Abby said.

"Ms. Redding, I thank you for the consideration but even if Mr. Carter allowed me to take leave, I wouldn't be able to afford a fancy trip. I have certain obligations at home that—"

"Say no more," Abby laughed. "Alex will pay for it." She didn't look at him because she wasn't brave enough to make eye contact. Abby knew she was overstepping her bounds, even if she was his girlfriend. She waited until she heard him sigh and his leather chair squeak as he leaned back.

"Fine. I give in. Felicia, I'll pay for your trip. Just book it and put everything on your company card."

Once Felicia was out of his office, Alex turned back to Abby, "You do realize that I'm going to make you pay for that, right?"

"You know I don't have any money."

He pulled her up from the chair she was sitting in until her body was aligned with his, "I'm not talking about money."

"Then what are you talking about?"

He kissed her neck and whispered, "You'll find out...tonight."

SATURDAY 1:54 PM

She needed something to read. Felicia spotted a Forbes magazine with Kim Kardashian on the front cover. Her mouth twisted up into a smile as she realized that the reality star was probably the only person in history to ever be featured both on Forbes and Playboy. Her hand reached forward to pick up the magazine but a stranger beat her to it.

"Whoa...Kim K looking good," the man next to Felicia leered.

Felicia looked up at the tall blonde muscular man beside her. He was wearing grey slacks, a red sweater and sunglasses. Felicia cringed. Sunglasses...indoors? How pretentious.

"Excuse me, but I was going to buy that," Felicia said cooly.

The man looked up from the Forbes cover and gave her a lopsided smile, "You snooze. You lose. Just get another one."

"That was the last Forbes."

The man scratched the back of his neck and pointed to the other magazines, "There's US Weekly, Cosmo, and People. Don't women like to read those kinds of magazines? Look, Hawk Harrington is on the cover of People."

Hawk Harrington was a model turned actor that was currently topping the A-list of celebs. On the cover of the magazine he was cavorting with a group of models on the set of his newest film, a huge smirk on his face. Before becoming a model, he had been known for being the son of Bart Harrington, a notorious businessman in charge of some large pharmaceutical group. He was known for his high-profile relationships with various models and actresses. His sordid past was hardly mentioned now that he was a top list celebrity.

"Contrary to your incorrect concept of women, not all of us read gossip rags."

He chuckled, "No, I suppose they just want smart magazines with reality stars on the cover."

Felicia fumed, "I want that Forbes magazine."

He gave her a dazzling smile, "I'm sorry about that, sweetie. I do too." He turned to walk to the counter, dismissing Felicia.

"Sweetie?" How condescending. Felicia lifted her chin and followed him. She walked close enough to him so that she was able to kick her foot towards his own, causing him to stumble forward.

"What do you think you're—" he looked back and almost collided with a candy display. He dropped the magazine and steadied himself against the display table. Felicia picked up the Forbes and nodded at the blonde sunglasses-wearing man.

"That's mine!" he cried, pointing at her.

Felicia lifted the magazine in the air, her back facing him, and called out, "You snooze. You lose."

2:30 PM

Felicia stared out the window of the plane as she waited for the other guests to board. She was lucky that Alex Carter had been willing to foot the bill for her trip. She had never seen him so generous. Abby Redding had certainly had an influence on her boss. He seemed more human since he had met her. Or perhaps it was because he understood the value of life after leaving Bayless. There's nothing like meeting a ghost to make you value your life.

"Excuse me, I think you're in my seat," a male voice said from the aisle, intruding upon her thoughts.

Felicia turned her head and heard the man groan when he saw her.

"You again? Are you stalking me?" he asked. "Why are women always following me?"

Felicia turned back towards the window and sighed, "Yes, I'm a psychic and beat you here knowing you'd eventually come and wrongly claim this was your seat."

"Are you...are you mocking me? I'm supposed to be by the window."

"I'm in seat 2D. This is 2D," she said pointing to her seat.

"But I specifically asked for a window-seat."

"Then take it up with a stewardess," Felicia said. "I'm in the correct seat and I'm not moving."

Felicia heard him mutter something under his breath before sitting next to her while she checked her e-mails. She made Abby promise to keep her up to date on what was going on at work. Alex was still working on choosing a spokesperson for his newest project. Despite all his flaws, she admired the fact that her boss enjoyed being hands-on when it came to work. Felicia closed her eyes and sighed. Perhaps she should've stayed at work.

"Who knew Kim Kardashian was this smart?" the male voice said beside her. "Beauty and brains. There's something about intelligent women..."

Felicia turned to see that the man next to her had grabbed the Forbes from her bag and was reading it. His sunglasses were on top of his head and there was no mistaking his identity. The blonde hair, the blue eyes, and his unmistakable smirk. Felicia wondered how she had missed it before. Sitting next to her was model turned actor Hawk Harrington.
