11-Repercussion!
"I'm feeling nervous." Jhanvi fiddled with the hem of her dress.
"Don't be; think of it another way; spend time helping him so you two may get to know each other better. Only after he proposes to you can you answer or even plan to propose if everything goes well. But don't worry, I can predict his response, and it will undoubtedly be positive. He likes you as well, girl." Shiksha went on.
"What if he didn't?" Jhanvi wondered, holding her breath..
"Gosh! If he didn't, you may always pretend you were only accompanying him as a good friend. It doesn't matter if he says yes or no; you have nothing to be embarrassed about.." Shiksha shook her head, annoyed.
"Ok then, I trust you." Jhanvi nodded thoughtfully, only then did Shiksha feel relieved.
Jhanvi went to Professor Jatin's residence after they said their goodbyes. At noon, he had already given her the key.
When she opened the door, she was surprised by a lonely apartment. Realizing that Professor Jatin had not returned, she snorted gently and remembered his words, "Don't wait for me, I will be late tonight." ..."
"Go to bed early..."
"... my foot I'm not his girlfriend;? Why would I hang around for him? She started spewing insults out of her mouth, and when she ran out of energy, she fumbled in the refrigerator for some food. She found some sliced fruits there, which she quickly devoured before retiring to the room she had been assigned the previous night. She was surprised to discover her bags in a corner.
The next crucial task for me is to win my crush over. I'll choose my prettiest outfit. When she opened the bag containing her clothing, she discovered there was nowhere to hang them in the room. A guest room, that is. The majority of the space was already taken up by the seating arrangement, and the remaining space was taken up by her bed. She made a bookcase out of the center table and arranged her books on it. Eventually, her bag and suitcase were carelessly set down at the foot of her bed. She couldn't demand for anything more as it was another person's property. After her brief marathon, the space was a little disorganized and littered. She left the room and walked to his modest study since she didn't feel like picking cleaning up. Even though his study was compact, it was stocked with the most recent books and periodicals. She had already decided to begin looking for a topic of interest on the internet. She took the notepad that had been left on his desk and began looking for books and periodicals about organ transplants.
Soon it was dark as evening darkness swallowed the rays of the setting sun. As she turned pages and jotted down notes, her attention was diverted by a video call from her brother. "Bhai.."
"Where are you?" her brother demanded. In response to his query, she just turned the camera mode of her cell and showed him the professor's study.
"Goly, I have no cupboard here to hang my clothes. I am the only daughter of the Goel family. Do I survive like this?" Jhanvi acted coquettishly and pouted.
"Hang them on knobs of window sills or doors. Don't think about luxury life and focus on studying hard, do you think you are a princess of the Goel family," Her big brother snorted and hung up the call. Nevertheless, he was glad to see that she was studying rather than hitting the clubs.
Her brothers' call shattered the peace and quiet she had found in Jatin's study. She became furious at his treatment.
Professor, you crossed the wrong person! Soon I will have you out of here begging for mercy because you crossed the wrong person.
She straightened up his books and journals, picked up the notepad and locked his study. In a nostalgic haze, she went through the notepad and came across some of her youthful scribblings. She had many questions and things to say to him for quite some time.
I like Dawn but feel my sunshine is you,
I like Dusk too but want my sunset with you, I like spring breeze but my Oxygen is you,
I like winter snow but want my cardigan to wrap around to be you...
it's all because I think I am falling for you.
She had written that in her summer vacations when he was out of station.
Her heart was thumping loudly in the rib cage. She whispered, 'As long as you take the initiative, we can have our story...Siddharth.
Kite has wind, dolphins have sea, you have none, would you like to have me
Thinking about him, she lay down on the table a little irritably and swiped her phone.
[Tell me how your Bf confessed to you.] She typed and sent it to Shiksha.
[The most romantic thing I can think of is to grow old with you.] Her reply came immediately followed by two heart emoticons.
|Shiksha's reply reminded her of her medical condition" No chance. She snickered. She let out a sarcastic laugh. 'Oh, confessions don't appear to be as simple as they appear.'
[I like you, can you like me?] She texted back, finding it rather simple and direct. and a reply with two thumbs up came instantly.
[But that is a thing of the Future. Currently, focus on seducing him rather than confessing to him.] Jhanvi decided to take a break and work on it later, rolling her eyes at Shiksha's remark.
Right after her shower, she attempted to review the notes she had taken today, but her brain was having none of it.
Her thoughts kept returning to her illness. She may get a glimpse of the disease's progression and her prognosis with a second opinion, but, She avoided the hospital despite knowing that the test results would allow her to arrange a flawless conclusion.
A loud tap on the door jolted her out of her daze.
She slipped on the house slippers and ran to greet the guest. She peered through the peephole and saw Professor standing outside, and then it dawned on her that she was neither at the hostel nor in Goel Villa. Please, Ms. Goel, let me in.
'So he doesn't have spare keys, Aha! Bakra! Now the ball is in my court. Let me play for a while.' She exuded wickedness from her face.."Where is your key?" She asked, taking a seat at the dining table.
"It's already with you." Jatin's response was hasty since he needed to use the restroom immediately.
"Don't you have a spare key? She enquired, seemingly uninterested," Jhanvi, however, was in no rush to unlock the door.
"My mum has the spare key."," Jatin immediately responded, He never anticipated that the little beauty who lives with him would shut him out.
"Humm, If you want to come in, beg me first." How could she pass up the chance to get revenge on him for tarnishing her relationship with Siddharth and her standing in front of her brother?
To keep the strain under control, he had to use all his strength. Jatin's mouth curved into a sour remark, "You are the guest here little rabbit, I do not require you to meet your requirements to enter my home.?"
"How arrogant! .. just stand outside, don't expect me to open the door for you." She turned around in anger.
You.... old guy, how dare you mock me? Rabbit...! You have no right to label me a rabbit. Do I look like one.? 'Do my incisors point outward?' She yanked on her hair. Her peace of mind vanished the instant he returned.. However, she didn't stop herself from taking a look in the mirror hanging over the wash basin. 'Ewww! what I was thinking. What's wrong with me believing his words? I am just perfect.'
Jatin leaned against the wall and waited for her to open the door for a few seconds. After receiving no response, he called his mother. On the other side of the door, Jhanvi pondered why Jatin was quiet and not slamming the door in wrath as she had anticipated. After waiting fot twenty minutes she crept forward to see what he was doing.
"Yes, Mom, I'm OK. Actually, I'm in a predicament... I believe my girl friend is pregnant, and she is now furious with me and locked me out... "We live together, yes..."
