Katherine Pierce always kept track of her descendants.

Katherine never even got to hold her daughter, so she took some comfort in checking in with the her descendants as a reminder that her daughter had survived.

Isobel Flemming was only fifteen years old when she first met Katherine Pierce.

Imagine Katherine's surprise when she discovered that Isobel was pregnant.

The storyline felt eerily similar, with Isobel's parents threatening to disown her.

In an unusual display of empathy, Katherine promised Isobel she would take her baby in and care for it whilst finding it a suitable family.

After all, the baby was also Petrova.

When Natalia* Flemming was born, Katherine took one look at her and knew she'd never be able to give her away.

Despite the risks, Katherine decided to raise the baby herself and allow Isobel to be a part of her child's life - a mercy she was not given.

For the first time in almost five hundred years, Katherine felt loved by someone.

Then Katherine found out Isobel was pregnant, again.

Thankfully this baby, Elena Gilbert, was taken in by her biological father's family.

Katherine checked in on her (of course) and soon realised that Elena was her doppelgänger.

This was the opportunity she had been looking for, for over five hundred years.

Her chance to be free from Klaus.

Without a second thought Katherine moved Natalia* Flemming into Mystic Falls and allowed herself to be part of Elena's life, posing as her best friend.

Natalia would know about vampires, obviously. You may even decide to have her already be a vampire at the beginning of the book.

Natalia's loyalties lie with Katherine Pierce and Katherine Pierce only.

Natalia wants to free Katherine from Klaus by sacrificing Elena to break the curse.

She would try to mess up Damon getting into the tomb as that would reveal Katherine is not there. She would steal the amber crystal from Caroline so that Damon doesn't get it. This is very important to Natalia as Katherine needs to stay hidden so that Klaus does not find her before they can gather all of the ingredients for the sacrifice to trade for her freedom.

Katherine would be very very protective of Natalia.

Natalia reminds Alaric of Isobel.

Natalia would befriend Tyler Lockwood due to his status as an untriggered werewolf and also to get the moonstone. You may even decide to have Natalia date Tyler to achieve this goal, similarly to how Katherine dated Mason Lockwood.

Natalia would be at least 10 months older than Elena - I'm not sure how the American high school system works but I'm sure a little compulsion could ensure Natalia would be in Elena's classes despite the age gap... just ask Stefan ig?

I feel like she'd be anti- stelena and delena, given the fact that they were basically her mother figure's boyfriends and are now interested in her younger half sister lol
