1. [VILLAIN]
" HOW TO CREATE A LOVABLE VILLAIN "
➥Make them good-looking. People are more willing to like those they are attracted to.
➥Give them a pleasant personality. Not all people who do horrible things are huge jerks.
➥ If that doesn't work, give them a sense of showmanship an pizazz.
Villains having fun are fun to watch.
One example for this is Loki from Marvel.
➥Give them a tragic past.
➥Give them a motive that relates to
their tragic past.
➥Make them have at least few people they truly care about. An example is Thanos from Marvel.
CHARACTER ENGINEERING OF A VILLAIN
➥Villains are Clever & Cerebral
Villains are the engines that drive suspense.
They should be the architects of the novels inciting event and followup plot.
They excell at identifying weaknesses and exploiting them.
This isn't a South Indian movie where villains are all feeble and weak and can be defeated by a Cricket bat. Nor are we writting a Chota Bheem episode.
➥Villains Ensnare
Villains are devious.
They should be plotting and planning ways to catch the hero by surprise and make the hero suffer.
If your villain isn't laying traps or plotting pitfalls, he is most probably not doing his job.
➥Villains Bring the Rain
In other words when things are going bad for your hero a villain doesn't show mercy.
➥Villains Backstab
Villains can never be trusted.
Most people are trusting by nature and authors should leverage this when plotting Villains. A villain may have a "moral code", but in most cases they should exploit both adversaries and allies.
This book will be hopefully updated every two days 🙂
