Purple_lurve
Sapphire, from CLN, had the opportunity to sit down with the lovely author, purple_lurve She is the author of Involved with the Bad Boy.
Good morning! So, first question, when did you realize that you wanted to be a writer?
In eighth grade, I think. Well, that's when I started writing. Then, it just occurred to me that I couldn't imagine a life where I was unable to express my thoughts through writing.
I totally agree. The world would be a dull place without mediums which to express our thoughts and feelings.
How many years have you been writing for already?
I think it's almost been 5 years since I've started.
Okay! What first comes into your mind whenever you start writing a book or a story?
I usually visualize how my readers would react to what I've written.
Wow that's amazing! You really do value your readers to the extent that you think about them first before thinking about yourself.
Thanks, I guess
When you are writing, what are your ups and downs? Do you experience writer's block? Bashers? How do you deal with them?
About the ups and downs, I haven't come across any writer's blocks yet. Maybe a few bashers here and there. One time a friend found me writing a short piece and he asked to read it, I hesitantly gave it to him since he was practically begging for it.
He then read the first line and dropped my book and muttered the word 'boring'. I swear that clicked. But after a while I realized his comment shouldn't count because he didn't even read the whole piece. And I brushed away all the negativity. So, I'm good ʘ‿ʘ
That must suck : (
But anyway, life's too short to care about negative vibes.
If there is one quality that stands out the most when it comes to becoming a writer, what do you think is that one quality and why do you think that everybody, especially aspiring writers should acquire?
This is a tricky one because there are so many qualities, I feel all aspiring writers should have... But to take one I think it will be persistence. I personally believe that you'll never make it to the successful writing world if you're not persistent enough. Because this is where writer's block and bashers come in. And if one gives up so easily, then they'll never be able to reach their goals of becoming successful authors/poets. One has got to push harder and harder despite all the hurdles they're faced with.
Wow, your answer is amazing, I'm so impressed!
I'm glad you are
Well back to writing, do you have a writing schedule? Do you write once a week? Twice? And was it effective so far?
Well no I don't have a writing schedule. I'm busy most of the time considering I have online classes and all and you can't afford the chores at home. So even if I were to come up with one, it won't be very effective considering my classes aren't so stable either. But I try my best to update everyday by staying up late at night and it helps, I guess.
Oh, but does writing late at night not affect your style of writing or your ideas?
Not at all. I even find it more peaceful and quieter. There are disturbances so it's easier to think and even update multiple chapters simultaneously.
So, you want an environment that is quiet? Some people prefer writing in cafes because there are background noises or places that have static noises or something along those lines.
All is fine with me actually. Considering I also write in class when we have free lessons where my classmates are making a lot of noise. But I also tend to write well even when I'm alone. So yeah.
You're very versatile I see. So, what is the thing you love the most when it comes to writing? Why?
Since I write both stories and short motivational pieces, I love the impact my writing has on some people. There's nothing better than hearing from a random person that you've changed their life or that you've helped put them on the right path. It's the best feeling
I totally agree, that is the best thing a writer can gain from their stories. Honestly, I have a Humor book and it's really a good feeling to read their comments that they cracked smiles and laughs when they read my book.
What is one scene that you thought of that is so cliché readers and writers will be guilty of liking it? You know, cause whether we admit it or not, there will always be the time that we ever liked a cliché scene
Okay, so I'm writing a Teen fiction book at the moment about you know bad boys and all. And most of those bad boy stories including mine have this tutoring scene(girl tutors the bad boy) as well as the fake dating scene. It's so cliché since it's used in almost every bad boy story but to be honest, I still love it and I can't imagine my story without it.
Yeah that's great! I love the "slamming the girl on the locker" one. If you can convey a message to your readers and fans, what would you tell them?
Oh man, I'd like to tell them so many things. But I guess the main thing will be appreciating their effort of reading my story and for their undivided support. And that last line will be "it's only because of you people that I'm where I am today" because it's true, they're my motivation and I'd like them to know that.
It's like receiving appreciation and giving it back, that's a great thing :)
What did you feel while writing your first ever book? Were you excited? Anxious? And why?
Okay so the first book I wrote was some Cliché First Love never dies. I don't really remember being so excited because I was scared people wouldn't even stop to read my story so anxious was definitely the main feeling. But after I finished the book, I received encouragement and comments and that's where the excitement came in, I think.
Yes, you really feel very self-critical the first time around, I also experienced that. Well what specific do you dedicate your book to? Is it for teenagers? Adults? Or for everyone?
Teenagers specifically
What other genres are you planning to write if you completed your first book? Why?
Actually, I've already written a thriller book but I'm not sure if I'm publishing it since it's a dialogue book. And my friend and I have also written a sort of horror romance... And that's the next one we're planning to publish
Oh, I like horror and thriller books, I'll make sure to check out your books to be published soon :)
Thank you. That means a lot and I'm looking forward to it as well.
You're welcome, you deserve it!
Other than writing, what are your other hobbies or activities you love doing?
Okay so I love playing basketball and well, the rest of the hobbies are rather uninteresting.
Well that's a surprise. I wish I could play basketball too, but my body won't just cooperate lol.
And back to your upcoming books, what will your readers expect from you? Are they looking forward to a new and peculiar kind of writing that is different from your other books?
Not exactly. So far, I haven't received any requests for a change of genre. Most of them are engrossed in romance novels so I'm not so sure they're expecting anything different from the usual.
Oh well that's good.
Okay here comes a more personal question. What is an unusual fact about you that you would like your readers and fans to know?
I honestly can't think of any weird thing about me at the moment. Much less one I'd like them to know. But in case I think of something, I'll be sure to let you know
Oh yeah that'd be good. But it's okay though, if you think the question is too personal, you don't have to answer it
No no... It's not too personal at all, I know I'm still thinking about it and I'm not getting anything... Unusual fact...
I can give you suggestions if you want, like what is a food that most people love but you hate? Or if you are given a superpower what would it be and why?
I'd like to think it's the fact that pork makes me gag when many people love it but I'm not so sure that's weird
And believe me if I had some superpower it'd be to change egotistical rich snobs into caring and less cynical people which again, I'm sure is not weird so...
That's a bit unusual, I admit. I love pork though :) That kind of superpower is so heroic. It's good! Yeah, it's very heroic, actually my desired superpower is teleporting so I could go wherever I want for free :)
I thought so. It's like everybody basically does except me. I'm glad you think it's heroic:-)
Okay so here's the next question:
What is your first impression on Crazy Late Nighters community?
That it's a helpful organization or whatever you can call it that wants to help amateur writers like me
Oh yeah, your first impression is very accurate :)
However, do you have any expectations for the CLN community? What is it?
Okay to be honest it wasn't all that good. I felt like it was just one of those things I joined just for the sake of joining and you don't even hear from them.
Do you also want a second impression ^_^?
You can say your second impression! Why not right? :)
Well after you approached me with the interview thing, I started to think that perhaps you truly do value our participation forms.
You are absolutely right. We appreciate every participant in our community and we also love to get feedback from you.
Well this is the last question of our interview. As you know CLN's mascot is lynx. What is one characteristic of lynx that you could relate to with the CLN community?
I'm not so sure since I don't know much about lynxes. But I do know they're unique considering their tuff looking ears and their great sense of hearing. Looking at your CLN, you're pretty much unique yourselves. I was never involved in anything where I was given so much importance to the point where you people asked to have an interview. And I thought it'd be some boring too serious interview, but you made sure I was pretty comfortable with everything and I felt like I could say exactly what I truly felt. And for that you too are unique
Woah thank you so much, that's very thoughtful of you!
And yes, we would not want our interviewees to feel uncomfortable and I'm glad that I passed across that one :)
On behalf of myself and of the CLN Community, we thank you for participating in our interview! Please don't stop doing what you love to do and don't let negativities stop you from doing that one. Until next time!
Thank you too. Very much appreciated
