Scene 4, Act 4
Scene 4, Act 4
The scene is the hospital parking lot. Abbey is walking to her car with her phone pressed against her ear.
Abbey is speaking to Evan's parents on the phone. "Yes, he woke up... Yeah, he's awake now... Okay, I'll see you when you get here... Okay, bye!"
Abbey puts her phone in her purse and pulls out her car keys. As she goes to unlock the car, T.C startles her by approaching her from behind.
T.C lowers his head and says to Abbey: "You didn't mention my name, did you?"
Abbey takes a step back and fiddles with her keys nervously. She says: "No, of course not! Why would I? You didn't exactly help us!"
T.C says: "Well, what do you expect? Your boy in there has been doing some pretty heavy shit! The last thing I need right now is the feds on my doorstep hassling me! Surely, your pretty little head can figure that out!"
Abbey purses her lips together in frustration. She doesn't know what to say.
T.C sighs, looks around nervously and then says: "I'm sorry, kid! I shouldn't be so harsh. I've had a whole lot of crazy shit happen to me in the past and I just don't want any trouble. As long as you promise that you didn't bring my name up, at all!"
Abbey nods her head obediently. "I promise. I didn't say anything about you."
T.C looks around again nervously and then says: "Thanks, I owe ya one! Actually, I might just know a way."
He pulls out a business card from in his pocket and hands it to her. "This guy is a talent scout. He's always looking for models. I think you'd be perfect for him... But there's a few requirements..."
Abbey stares down at the business card and then back up at T.C and asks: "Requirements? Do you mean dieting and exercise?"
T.C nods and says: "That, among other things."
He gives her a smile and then leaves abruptly, sticking to the trees, buildings and cars, to not be seen by anybody else.
Abbey stares down at the card, and then puts it into her purse. She unlocks the door to her car and climbs in. She stares at herself in her rearview mirror and pulls a few common faces that supermodels would normally pull.
She scoffs and shakes her head at her slightly chubby cheeks. She looks down at her stomach and pinches a small amount of flab from her stomach and then scoffs again.
She says to herself in frustration: "Some model You would be!"
There is a buzzing from the console of her car where Evan's phone had been left. She opens it and pulls out the phone.
The phone lights up the second that she has it in her hand. There is a message and it reads: "Evan, you're a dead man!"
Abbey locks the screen again and pockets it, a little concerned at who Evan might have angered. She climbs out of her car, locks the door and makes her way back toward the hospital.
