2. bro, everyone has their downtime
❝ Twilight, how can you not get discouraged and you have endless motivation while writing warriors fanfiction? ❞
If this is one of your questions that you want to ask me (some already did), you are in luck. I am going to answer this question here.
Don't get me wrong, I really want to be that one superhero that wears a shining bright red cap in your head. That feeling will be awesome. But I am going to speak the truth here, I always get discouraged.
It is easy for one to get discouraged when they feel unconfident or unsure of themselves. Or they are desperate when they meet certain situations. It is definitely a natural thing that happens to human beings.
But, but, BUT, you know what is the most important thing out of all?
How to walk out of your downtime and regain confidence.
In case some of you haven't been discouraged before (and I just want to sound like a pro), let me make a quick example down here.
Imagine you have a brilliant idea of a warriors fanfiction that no one has thought of before. You have characters in mind and you find the motivation to write it. But suddenly, you are scared whether it will turn out great, or whether the readers will like the idea or not.
Then, you will probably start to panic or feeling stressed. All of your motivation is lost because you are scared to face the fact that no one likes the idea. You will probably stop there and relucent to try.
Shooting Star, I guess many readers start to know me or follow me because of that book, was nearly deleted from my draft before. I can say that I was scared of the outcome, scared that many people would hate my new creation. That idea was so new that no one had ever tried it before. I have thought of writing something normal so they would probably be more acceptable for my readers.
But at the last minute, I changed my mind and decided to work on it instead. I had fear, I was scared, I was unconfident. If I tried and it failed, I would have no regrets. Because I was willing to take the first step and try my best to do it.
No matter how bad it would probably go, the idea was still mine and I should be proud.
There we go.
If you don't try, how would you know whether it will be a failure or a success at all?
Apart from being discouraged, motivation is something that bothers many writers too. It sounds like that one classmate who is forever absent in your class, and you wish it can appear one day.
Well, many of you probably think that I am never lacking motivation (or maybe rarely lacking), but I am not going to be that superhero and I am here to tell you, yes, I always do.
It is that one thought which crashes your dream crashes everything. The thoughts that tell you "you can't do it" or "this is so boring, I don't want to do it".
I understand writing can definitely be boring sometimes, but the happiness you can get from overcoming it is that you can finish the story and be proud of it.
If you truly love writing that story with all your heart, enjoy being that character, or living in that fiction world, you will never be able to pull yourself out from the world.
Of course, if you are tired of writing it or just want to try something new, remember to take a break and do something that you like. Do not push yourself too much, it will never do any good to yourself and your mind.
Your readers are waiting for your new chapter. They love your book. Please don't disappoint them with a story without an ending.
I am so sorry, every single reader who is reading Shooting Star, for hanging you all up without an ending. I will try my best to finish the book soon.
Lastly, think about this fact yourself. If you really love writing with all your heart and decide to put your time in writing, why will you be discouraged because no one reads your book? Do you write for reads, or write for what you really like to do - writing? Do you really love writing or just all the pride or praise that you have got because of your work?
If you feel discouraged about not having much reads or votes, sorry, I have no idea to help you. Please change your attitude, because it is not going to work if you think like that.
Don't let fame blind your eyes, and forget what you really like. What is the purpose of writing, and why.
