Jami1012 Presents: A Young Adult Romance Preview...

Hello, Everyone! This is Jami, AKA . I am so excited with this opportunity to interact with all of you through this #WattpadBlockParty! I've been working on a new young adult romance featuring the next generation of the Collins.

The story is titled You Call Me Cause You Want Me. It features Caleb and Ethan Collins who are Nick's and Colton's sons (if you've read my other Collins stories). I'm so excited to share a little preview with you guys. Please let me know what you think!

Also share your thoughts in Instagram with the hashtag #YouCallMe so I can see your posts (@authorjami1012)!

Here's a little summary followed by a little preview...

Caleb Collins is done dating. He is ready to settle down. It all seems like perfect timing when he spots the most beautiful girl he has ever set his eyes on. Who is she? He has never seen her before...problem is his cousin has and she comes with him...

Ethan Collins recently got out of a three-year relationship and he is feeling a bit lost. He thought he was going to be with her forever, though he would never admit that aloud to anyone because he knows how corny it would sound. He realizes he is in his last year of college so might as well enjoy it right? Problem is, he seems to have forgotten how to talk to girls with the exception of one...

Abigail Baker is the new girl though people don't really notice that in college. A person could be going to the same college for three years and still be meeting new people during senior year, especially somewhere like NYU. She decides she likes it right away though she makes that judgment way too soon and she begins to change her mind when she meets her roommate who already hates her for no apparent reason...

Alexa James can't believe her ex is winning the game. She is not hurt that he is moving on...at least that's what she keeps telling herself. She was fine before he made that stupid phone call. He wants war, he's going to get war. She is not going to be the sad little girl he wants to see...not if she can help it...

YOU CALL ME CAUSE YOU WANT ME

BY: JAMI1012

"Hello?"

"Hey, Alexa."

"Why are you calling me, Ethan? What do you want?"

"Listen...you're going to the party tonight at Zack's right?"

"I don't know, why?"

"I just—I don't want any unnecessary drama..."

"Just spit it out, Ethan."

"I'm going with this girl that I've been seeing and just wanted you to find out through me."

"And why would I care that you're dating another girl?"

"Alexa, come on, we broke up four months ago—"

"And it's obviously been enough time for you to move on so I don't know what you want me to say."

Silence. Sigh. "Forget it. Bye."

ETHAN

Alexa isn't playing fair.

She knows exactly how to get to me and she isn't holding back. Why did I think the stupid phone call was a good idea? Caleb warned me and I didn't listen.

I just thought it was common courtesy to let her know I would be going to the party with someone. I didn't want her to think I was doing it on purpose to hurt her. I thought our break-up had been friendly. Or hadn't it? It is all hazy now. I can't remember why we broke up in the first place.

I just remember Alexa driving me crazy all the time...like right now.

She is wearing the dress. The stupid blue dress.

To everyone in the room, it is just a piece of clothing but there is history with that blue dress. Alexa knew what she was doing when she decided to wear that dress tonight.

She knew exactly what she was doing...

"Dang dude," Zack says, slapping my back. He is staring at Alexa as she makes her way into the living room. "You don't mind if I—?"

I push his arm away. "Shut the hell up, Miller." I turn to look at Abigail who looks uncomfortable. I lean into her. "I'm so sorry about this, Abigail."

She smiles. I think she almost looks sorry for me. "She's your ex?"

Nothing like having a little drama in your first date. I nod. "Yes. I'm sorry, I just have to—I'll be right back."

I make my way to the living room, pushing past people. The house is packed by now and the music is louder than it was earlier. People don't seem to care that tomorrow is a school day. Then again, the best thing about college is the choice we have of going to class or not. It is the dilemma of every morning.

I look around the living room and spot Alexa with some of the football players and their girlfriends. She has a drink in her hand though I know she doesn't like to drink at school parties.

"People are not trustworthy," she would always say. "God knows what they could put in my drink or do to me if I get drunk. No thank you."

The conversation powers down as I approach and Alexa turns around to see who everyone is looking at. I can't read her face. Is she happy to see me? Angry? Annoyed?

This is the first time I see her since we broke up. We broke up in May before summer so it's been 4 months, not that I'm keeping track of the time or anything.

"Ethan," she says my name slowly then looks away.

She's definitely annoyed.

"Alexa," I say her name, trying to ignore everyone's stare. Jeez. You would think people would be a bit more subtle. They're staring at us as if they're ready for something to happen. They would grab popcorn if Zack had any. "Can we talk?"

"We already did earlier, didn't we?" She rolls her eyes at me.

Okay. She's annoyed about the phone call. I knew it had been a mistake to call her. What the hell was I thinking?

"Alexa, come on," I say moving my head to the side, motioning for us to go outside.

"Fine," she says with a sigh. "I'll be back guys," she says to the crowd who cheers her on. Most of them are Caleb's friends so naturally they are mine too, at least they were.

That is one of the problems with this break-up. Alexa and I shared the same social groups and most of them ended up taking her side after the break-up. They're here acting like we got a divorce or something. Though it was three years that I was with her so it was a long time.

I follow Alexa outside to the backyard. There is a pool and though it's chilly out, some people are in the water. Others are huddled in groups drinking and talking.

"So," Alexa turns to look at me. "What unnecessary drama do you want to avoid now?"

I wince. "Sorry about the phone call, okay? I realize now that it may not have been the best idea." Alexa suddenly takes a sip from the red cup in her hand and I frown at her. "Since when do you drink at parties?" I ask without thinking.

Her brown eyes meet mine. "Since I have an ex to deal with at parties."

I sigh. "What are you doing exactly, Alexa?" I ask in a low voice. "Wearing that dress?"

"Um, excuse you. I don't have to get your approval for what I choose to wear." She smiles innocently. "This was just the dress I had lying around."

I scoff. "The dress you had lying around," I murmur, shaking my head.

"I'm sorry, am I not supposed to wear anything I wore while I was with you? Because in that case, I would have to walk around naked!" She laughs at her own joke then brings the cup back to her lips.

I look at her. She is not acting like that Alexa I knew. Has she really changed this much in the past 4 months? Did I cause this change in her? Or is she showing her true colors after 3 years of pretending?

"You wore that dress on purpose." I accuse.

A smile plays on her rosy lips. "I didn't."

"You did."

"What's your problem with the dress, Ethan? Will you just let it go?"

I clench my jaw then take a step forward. Alexa takes a step back in response but her back hits the wall. "My problem with the dress," I say in a low voice. "Is how good you look in it."

Her brown eyes sparkle in satisfaction and I know I have given her exactly what she wanted. She wanted my torture, my attention. Damn her. Damn her and the stupid cerulean blue dress.

"Careful, Ethan, your new girlfriend might get jealous," she says with a smile.

I shake my head at her. "What are you trying to do? Drive me crazy?"

"Maybe."

"You know this is crazy right?" I ask her. "Recreating this look to attack me."

"You started it," she says. "You should have thought twice before calling me. What were you trying to do? Show me that you were moving on faster than me? Make me jealous?"

And it all comes to the stupid phone call. Jesus. What the hell was I thinking? I wish I could go back in time and smack past Ethan in the head. I may ask Caleb to do it for me so I learn. I'm sure he would gladly do it. At the same time, it is nice to be talking to her again. I don't know what I was trying to do exactly. Maybe I was trying to get her attention. Maybe I missed her. I don't know. All I know is that it had been a mistake.

"Because I can play that game too, Ethan." Alexa continues.

I look at her for a moment and she looks back at me, a smile is playing on her lips. I know I am giving her exactly what she wanted: a reaction. But I couldn't help myself. She really knows how to push my buttons and the problem is that it intrigues me...maybe I even like it. This is so messed up.

"Ethan."

Caleb is suddenly standing by the doorway and we both turn to look at him. He gives me a pointed look after seeing how close I am to Alexa and I take a step back, feeling a weird sense of shame.

"Your date Abigail just left," Caleb says, sounding annoyed.

"Well," Alexa says and I turn to look at her. "Now you managed to piss off two women today. Congrats." She squeezes my arm before walking past me.

I sigh, feeling like a complete ass.

"What the hell are you doing, man?" Caleb asks me. "That was a dick move, ditching Abigail like that."

"I know." I sigh again. "Alexa—she just—" I shake my head, unable to explain what Alexa does to me.

"So you ditched Abigail to dig an even deeper hole for yourself with Alexa?"

"Just—shut up will you?"

Caleb shakes his head. "It's just not fair to Abigail."

"Why do you care so much? You literally just met her."

He nods once. "You're right. Whatever. I'm calling it a night, I have an early class tomorrow." He turns around and disappears back into the house.

I sigh then follow him inside. As I make my way through the living room, I see Alexa standing with the group she was before. She half-smiles at me as one of the guys hands her a red cup.

I look away.

I don't care. I shouldn't care. She's my ex. She's not my girlfriend anymore.

"What's wrong with you?" Zack asks when he sees me.

"Nothing, why?"

"You look pissed off."

"I'm fine," I say. "I'm leaving."

I am done with this day.
