Illusions are Deception
Zane's POV
*"So," Jay chatted. "You found the Water Master."
"Yes," I reply absentmindedly.
"No further Questions, your honor!" He jokes.
I roll my eyes and continue to the bedroom where Whiplash, Slash, and Radar are curled up in a little heap on the rug. I step around them and lay on my bed. "I wish there was something I could do to find a cure." I sighed unhappily.
"There is," Radar said, opening one eye. For he had been only half-asleep.
"What?" I ask, not believing him entirely.
He lifted his head and focused his yellow reptilian eyes on me. "There is one person who can help." "Who?" I inquire.
He shakes his head. "It is not my path to tell."
I lower my head and stare out at the dancing colors that sweep the window. It is getting late, so I decide to sleep for an hour. I am not hungry for dinner.
***********
I hear a crash of shattering glass. I bolt upright and my eyes wander to the window. It is broken upon the floor. I tentatively slip out of the covers. I apparently overslept. Scanning the room for anything or anyone, I notice that no one else is up. I glance down. Radar and Slash are gone. Whiplash's tail is visible poking out from under the bed. He seems to be sleeping deeply. I tiptoe around him and see a shadow flicker in the dining room. I follow it and see Radar on the ground with a figure dressed in a hood attached to a black outfit pinning him down. Only the figure's eyes were visible. Slash is in a corner in a frightened huddle.
"The Prophecy said a Ninja of Ice would rescue her, who is he?" It muttered to him quietly.
"I cannot tell you! It is not my place!" He answers with a snap at the figure's leg.
I take a step closer. Creak! Bad idea. A floorboard creaks and the figure whips it's head around to face me. I press my body to the wall and for once wish I was invisible. The figure releases Radar and flies out the window. I run to see where it landed, and there was nothing below us but trees. A flash darts from tree to tree, attempting to evade the slow-drifting Destiny's Bounty. I leap out of the window as well. We had learned to travel by tree in training. Soon, I had caught up to the figure. It turned and looked at me then increased it's speed. I did as well.
"Come back! What are you doing?" I call out to it. It doesn't answer.
I leap to a higher branch and took a leap of faith and jumped on to the figure. It loses balance and topples to the ground. I do as well.
"What was that for?" It grumbles in a feminine voice.
"To stop you. Why did you attack Radar and Slash?" I replied, keeping a hand on my ice sword (which Kai had given to me upon his arrival).
She lifts a silver stick which, to my disbelief, extends into a bow, and arms it with an arrow from her quiver. "You're with the Raptors?" she exclaims and aims the arrow at me.
I draw my sword and encase it in ice. "They're with us! They're helping us defeat the Others."
She drops her bow, mouth agape. "Y-you're the Ninja of Ice..." She stammers.
"Yes..." I reply, a bit confused. She removes her hood. She is indeed female with long black hair, light skin, and green eyes.
"Apologies, I wasn't aware."
I nod in return. "Come with us to the ship! The others will be pleased." I offer.
She nods, but then says, "I have lost my dragon Grace, and SilverScale is gone too. I have to keep looking for them." She turns t leave, but I grab her hood and pull her back.
"We can help," I say. Then it hits me. The dragon in the dream must be Grace!
She nods and smiles. "My name is Silver."
