Because I'm Not

Anger wasn't enough to explain how Vincent's facial expression was. The look even beats Jagger's ugly glare. Sony felt Paul's hand tighten a bit on her shoulder. She looks up to see that his mouth was pushed to a straight line. She didn't like this situation at all. It was the one thing she wanted to avoid!

Vincent stalks forward, hand still griping another chair. He reels his arm back and throws the object, this time Paul moves away from Sony as the chair almost hits him. Right after the furniture leaves Vincent's hands he rushes forward with fist held up. Sony's eyes widen at his action, she can't let anyone get hurt because of her.

"Vincent!" Sony stands and runs to the boy, she clasps her arms around his waist trying to stop his actions. She first feels resistance, but it soon dies off. Sony leans her head against his back, hoping that his nerves have calmed down. She carefully looks up, and she takes in a sharp breath. Small tears were falling from his eyes, his lips weren't frowning anymore but were now trembling a bit. Sony knew he was shocked a bit from knowing she was on a date, but she didn't know that he would be this upset. Vincent turns his head, eyes still crying.

"Did I lose you?"

Sony's own eyes were starting to water a bit.

"N-No! Vincent, you'll never-." She reaches up to wipe the tears off his face, but he quickly jerks away. Sony flinches at how he reacts. Usually Vincent would lighten up quickly if Sony was there to comfort him. But, he's still broken. Her touch didn't heal him this time.

Vincent backs away and this time turns and fast walks to the exit of the mall. Sony was still standing where she was, shocked. He didn't smile, not even give her a small sparkle in those dark eyes. The worst part of it all, was that she was the reason why he was so hurt. She remembers the first day she met him, he looked so frightening that she didn't think she would ever cross his paths without getting killed. Why did she feel like that right now? Even though he was crying, she felt like that first day in Friendship Club.

"Sony, run after him."

She turns from her thoughts to see Paul standing back up again. His hands were in his pockets and he held a straight face. He walked up to Sony and jerked his head to where Vincent was last.

"He needs you. I could see it. Vincent's probably one of the most messed up in Friendship Club, so you should talk to him."

Sony turned away from Paul with guilt.

"But, today-."

"Doesn't matter." He cuts off. Paul sighs and tries his best to put on a smile. "I got to see you. And you came to the date. I also know that you really don't want any of us to get hurt."

Sony smiles brightly and wraps her arms around Paul, almost throwing him off balance.

"Thank you so much, Paul!" She then pulls away from him and runs out to the exit, but not before waving to the blond. "See you some other time!"

Paul smiles and returns the wave. He watches Sony until she was out from view. Paul sighs and brushes his hand through his hair. "No guy should have to go through this."

oO0OoO0Oo

Sony was running through the streets and around the mall. Trying to find Vincent. Did he go home already? Does he take the bus or does he ride a car? Either way, Sony was frantic to find him. She then finally finds the teen, he was walking in the parking lot. Sony's eyes brighten, she hold her hand to the air and waves to try to get his attention.

"Vincent! Vincent!"

He turns his head, but once he sees Sony he quickly turns again and begins to walk faster. Sony's heart breaks a bit at his cold shoulder. She frowns, but stays persistent. This time Sony runs and catches up with him.

"Vincent!" She reaches out and grabs his arm, but he flinches away. His face carried a small frown.

"I need to get home."

This time Sony hugs him again from behind. Not letting him move. She buries her head in his back, trying to hold her ground.

"No! I need to talk to you!"

There wasn't any more struggling, the two stood in silence. Sony's heart was racing at the tension. Hoping that he would give in to her persistence. Her hopes then fly when she hears him take in a breath.

"You can talk to me at my house."

Everything then stopped. Her mouth was slightly opened ajar. Going, to Vincent's house? Her mind was reeling. She's going to his house? ! She can't do that! She's never been to a boy's-. Well, she has been to Paul's home. But that was for Celestina's sleepovers in elementary! Then again, there was that time when Angelica dragged her to her house and her brother's were there. And the time when she went to Matty's apartment with Paul.

So, that means that going to Vincent's home shouldn't be that bad.

She pulls away from him and tries to put on a smile.

"S-Sure!"

Vincent turns without another word and begins to walk again, Sony follows in tow. They both then reach his car, Sony pears from behind him to get a good look at the vehicle. It's not a sports car like the Jakov's, but it's still an old vintage car. Vincent unlocks it and jumps into the driver's seat while Sony goes to the passenger side.

The drive was very awkward. Vincent wouldn't say a single word and focused only on the road. Sony wasn't used to it at all. Yes, she was used to situations being awkward with him, but the awkwardness would usually come from him giving her looks filled with adoration.

After ten minutes or so, Vincent pulls into a parking lot and gets out of the car. She also climbs out and looks around where they are. It's definitely the ghettos, but there were no buildings. Just a random parking lot. Vincent continues to walk but turns around, noticing Sony isn't moving.

"Come on."

She jumps at his voice and begins walking again. They walk a small distance, Sony was still looking around for where Vincent's home would be. Wait, is he planning to kidnap her? ! No! Don't think that Sony! He's not that bad!

"Here it is."

She looks down to now see Vincent kneeling on the ground. His hands were working on a piece of cement on the ground that was cracked. Suddenly he was able to pop the piece off the ground and settles it to the side. Sony looks in and her mouth drops. It was dark, she couldn't see the bottom! Even worse, there was a ladder sticking out from the side of the wall. She had to climb down there? ! Wait, the better question is, he lives down there? !

Vincent began to lower himself down in the hole and started to climb. He looks up to Sony and beckons for her to follow. "Don't worry, it's not as deep as you think."

Sony gulps, but also begins to lower herself in. She was trembling while climbing down the dark area. Begging for it to be over. She finally sighs in relief when she hears him jump to the ground. Sony looks down to see there's only two steps left and also jumps down. Sony looks around herself at the decoration. It had the looks of an underground prison, but there were high quality carpets and furniture all around. But the space was still dimly lit by a few light-bulbs and lamps. She still couldn't believe he lives underground. It's probably because he's apart of a gang.

Sony keeps on following Vincent, by the way he swifts his head side-to-side it seems he's checking the area for anyone. She also glances around herself, shouldn't he have a bunch of thugs around since this is a gang base? She was ecpexting huge, gruely men at the entrance of his home asking for idetification.

"Here." Vincent opens a large metal door, Sony flinches at the loud noise it makes while Vincent opens it. Wait, was this his room? Sony nervously steps in, her eyes then widen at the room. If she can even call it a room!

The place was dark and cold, the only thing in the prison like area was a 'bed' that didn't even have a mattres! She turns to Vincent, still shocked and slightly shaking.

"Why is it so empty?"

Vincent wordlessly walks over to the 'bed' and sits himself down with arms resting on his legs and a glare still on his face.

"That isn't what you came to talk about, right?"

Sony gulps at his dark tone. Still not use to how they sounded so cold. She takes in a breath before speaking to him.

"L-Listen, I know we may not have spend as much time together before I got more friends. But that doesn't mean we're-!"

"Shut up."

Sony felt something break in her. 'Shut up'? He's never said anything like that to her. Was she dreaming? Was this all just a horrible nightmare? Sony blinks and still sees Vincent with the same hard look, this is indeed a living nightmare. She feels herself begin to shake.

"S-Shut up?"

"You're making me sound pathetic. I'm not that weak that I need sympathy. I'm fine on my own."

No. That's what she kept repeating in her head. That can't be, Vincent is the one that changed out of all the guys. She presses her lips to a fine line and stares down the teen.

"Liar."

He narrows his eyes at her. "Excuse me?"

She tightens her fists and this time yells with a stronger voice. "You liar! You're the one that's changed the most out of all of them! You're the one that's said you've been so much happier with friends! You're the one that's helped me get to where I am right now!" She felt small tears begin to gather in the corner of her eyes. "Y-You're the one, that's been beside me all this time. So don't say you're fine on your own, because I'm not."

He didn't say anything, but the shock was shown on his face. Sony was still shaking from all the screaming she did. Funny, she's having a sense of deja vu. From that time he cornered her to the wall and almost punched her face out. How it seems that history has repeated itself again.

He still wasn't speaking a word. Sony couldn't take the silence. She closes her eyes and turns to the door.

"See you at school."

"Sony!"

She then feels him run up and wrap his arms around her and rest his head on her shoulder. His eyes were shut close and Sony could feel Vincent trembling a bit.

"I'm sorry, please, don't ever cry because of me again."

Sony had to bit her lip and tried to stop the tears from coming out. Tears of joy, she actually thought he left her. That she was never going to see him give her those gentle eyes again. She also put on a smile and turns to return the embrace to him. They stand there for a few seconds, enjoying the other person's company. Vincent was the first to back up a bit and give her one of his small grins. He then lifts one of his hands to her cheek.

"You wont run away?"

She grins too. "Never."

They both then lean forward and connect lips. At first Vincent was unsure of what to do, but gradually began to move his lips against hers. Sony slowly begins to wrap her arms around his neck and pushes a little bit, now sort of getting used to such actions like kissing. Vincent also returns her gestures and glides his arm behind her back while the other moves into her hair. They both continue the routine before pulling back. Sony opens her eyes, she's then surprised to see how Vincent's expression is. He did have a smile on, but it was one of the brightest she's seen. She looks down, trying to figure out how to bring out a conversation again.

"Um, I'm sorry we haven't been as close."

Vincent lets out a small chuckle. "It's fine." He then take one of her hands into his. "I've never felt so close to you as now."

Her face blushes at his sentance and she looks down to hid. "M-Me too, um. I guess I should be getting home, right?"

He frowns a bit at how soon she's going to leave. "You can stay."

"Eh?"

He smiles at how cute her confusion is. Vincent lets go of her hands and walks over to his bed and lays down, he then patts the spot next to him.

"I'm sleepy, could you stay a while and sleep too?"

Her face darkens to a cherry. Sleep in the same bed as him? ! In his home? ! She stutters a bit.

"W-Well, u-um, I d-don't think-." She then sees his face sadden a bit and look towards the ground. No! She can't reject him with that kind of expression! "I guess it's fine."

The smile immediatly comes back to his face. Sony climbs onto the bed and lays down next to the boy. She lets out a small yelp as Vincent turns and wraps his arms around her body. At fisrt Sony tenses at the contact, but soon begins to relax in his embrace. She smiles and begins to close her eyes, realizing how tired she was from the day.

Vincent burys his face into her neck, happy to be in the current position.

His bed had never felt so warm.
