Chapter 4
Before I let go of Izaya's hand, he pulled me-
No.
He yanked me closer to him. Close enough that you can barely fit four fingers between us, earning a small blush from me.
And then it happened..
Out of no where, a trash can came hurling torwards the place I stood just seconds ago, barely smacking against my small 5'0 frame, and my luggages.
"Shit" I whispered. I turned my head to see a tall, blonde male wearing a bartender suit.
"IIIII-ZAAAAA-YAAAAA-!!" The man boomed.
"Aww, Shizu-chan~! You almost hit the poor boy!" Izaya teased.
"Shut the hell up!!I told you to never show your face in Ikebukuro anymore! And how many times do I have to say it, my name is not Shizu-chan. IT'S SHIZUO HEIWAJIMA!!" The man, that I now know as Shizuo, yelled out. "Oh CRAP. I think I know this guy.. I'm pretty sure Kanra told me about this guy before coming out here too," I remembered.
Shizuo turned around and ripped out a lightpole out of the ground. My eyes widened at this person. Suddenly, Izaya grabbed my hand and ran, dragging me along with him, as well as my luggage and my bookbag on my back.
Abruptly, the pole that Shizuo had in his hands was now a few feet ahead of us. "Is he really that strong that he actually THREW the freakin' light pole at us?! Holy shit." I thought.
Izaya then pulled me into a sharp left, hauling me to a set of stairs, making me almost trip. It took a while getting at the top of the stairs because of the luggages.
Finally on top of the stairs, Izaya stopped infront of a dark oak wood door, that had a glass hole in the top middle of it to look through, and a welcome mat in front of it. I then realized that this was the door to my apartment. I quickly reached my hand to the back of my bookbag and grabbed the house key.
I then unlocked the door to an average looking apartment. White walls, beige carpet, a white lamp next to it, a glass table, and a dark oak bookshelf that has a medium-sized flatscreen on top of it. "My god, this place is so bland. I should buy some anime posters and some mangas to fill this place up with more color. My brother may be awesome, but man does he suck when it comes to decorating something fun." I told myself.
I took off my shoes and walked towards the couch. Ignoring Izaya's presence entirely, I placed my luggage down next to it and tossed the bookbag from my back to the other side of the couch. Sitting down, I thank to whoever's watching me for helping Izaya and I outrun Shizuo somehow.
I puffed out the air I didn't know I was holding, closed my eyes, and laid my head back.
I heard something being put down into the ground and footsteps slowly getting closer to me, feeling the light that was on my eyes a few moments a go, gone. I opened my eyes, only to reveal a pair of auburn eyes staring at me, only inches away.
I let out a small "ah!" noise, causing the owner of these auburn eyes to smirk at my reaction. "What's wrong Rei-kun? Are you not comfortable with how close I am to you~?" Izaya said in his usual mocking tone. A small grin appearing on his lips.
"Obviously. Now, I'm going to say this in the nicest possible way." I put on a fake smile before I continued. "Get the hell off of me."
"Ouch. I'm hurt Rei-kun~! But I'll do as you ask." The raven haired man said before getting off of me. I sighed as I grabbed my camping bookbag, stood up from my couch, and walked towards the kitchen where I pulled out the bags of food from the bag. I opened the cabinet, just to find bagged foods already in them. I sighed, thinking that my brother did all of this for me.
"You sound unhappy at the fact that you have food in your cabinets." A familiar voice came behind me. I flinched, as I turned around, finding out that Izaya was just merely a few inches away from me. I blushed at this realization, but quickly composed myself.
"I am 'unhappy' as you call it because I thought my brother would believe that I'm capable of living on my own", I told Izaya.
"Oh? And who is this brother of yours?" Izaya said, his tongue dripping in interest of knowing.
"That's for me to know, and for you to not know" I retorted.
"That's cold, Rei-kun~! I just wanted to know you better", Izaya pouted.
I scoffed.
"Yeah, sure. Now, move out of the way. I need to call my brother." I stated, as I took my phone out of my pocket.
"You can just call him right here." Izaya said, getting a bit closer to me.
"Uhh-"
"Come on. I'm not going to do anything. Just call your brother.." Izaya said, getting closer to my ear. "Rei-kun~", he whispered, causing me to blush like a mad woman.
"F-Fine." I huffed out, turning my head away and dialing the number '2' onto my phone, since I had him on speed dial.
After a few short moments, I heard the phone being picked up, but instead of hearing my brother's voice, I heard his girlfriend's instead.
"Hey, Rei!" She called out. I resisted making any expression on my face so that Izaya doesn't get any hints that I'm angered.
"She just loves to try to anger me sometimes, does she? Well, that's good. At least Izaya won't get any clues" I reflected. "Hey, Hanako. Can you put my brother on the phone?" I said as calmly as I could, trying to ignore Izaya's closeness to me.
"Oh, sure." There was a slight pause, and a slight shuffling noise, indicating that she removed the phone from her ear. "ICHIRO! Your little bro wants to talk to you!"
"HEY!" I called out, causing the raven haired man infront of me to flinch slightly to my sudden loud voice booming out.
Hanako giggled, knowing that I hated if someone were to call me little. I heard a familiar male voice after that. "You mean Rei?! Ah! My *Otouto *!" My brother teased. I heard shuffling again, and not long after that, I heard my brother speaking again. "So, did you get home safely?"
"Uh, yeah, I did. Also, I will not hesitate to jump back on the train from Ikebukuro to come get you if you dare call me otuoto again." I lightly threatened, not mentioning my run-in with 3 gang members, Izaya, and Shizuo. Dear lord was Shizuo scary.
"Good, good.. And man, Rei! You're so cold to your onii-chan!" I can almost see the pout on my brother's face. I heard a slight chuckle from Izaya which earned a glare from me in return, looking down afterwards.
"Ugh, is there anything else?"
"No, not really.. oh wait. Hanako wants to talk to you." I heard the passing of a phone. "I'm gonna go to work now. See you later my love, and talk to you soon kid!" A small peck could be heard from that end, followed by a door shutting.
"Okay! Now that he's gone.. soooo Mana, have you met any cute guys in your way towards your new apartment?"
I cursed mentally, hoping that Izaya didn't hear Hanako saying my name. "Uh, nope. Sorry." I awkwardly chuckled.
"OH! You're lying. I know you are. You always say 'uhh' somewhere in a sentence, followed by your signature weird chuckle! Spill the beans girl, I wanna know!" Hanako said, slightly yelling.
I looked up to see Izaya having his left arm wrapped around his stomache, with his right hand blocking his mouth. As well as his eyes having slight tears on the edge of them. I glared at him once more. Soon noticing how Izaya is quite handsome. "He's.. well... I guess Izaya is kind of cute." I blushed, shaking my head slightly at my thought about Izaya.
"I have nooo idea what you're talking about."
"Oh my gosh. You're still lying to me. He HAS to be cute! Come ooonn Mana~! Tell me!" Hanako squealed.
"I promise you, there is no guy." I told her.
"You're lyyyiiing~"
"Good byyyeeee Hanako!" I replied, hanging up.
I looked back up to Izaya to see him releasing his hand. "HAHAHAHAHA! That was priceless! You seriously should have seen the look on your face, Rei-kun!" Izaya laughed.
"Yeah yeah. Now please, leave."
"Ahahaha~! Alright, Rei-kun. I'll go now. But let me just say, I had no idea you were gay! Could this mean you could fall for me? I mean, it would be useless. I love all humans, all the same!" He boasted.
I laughed at his sentence. "HAH, as if.. and I'm not gay!" I scoffed.
"Heheh, alright. I will leave you alone now. I'll see you soon!" And with that, Izaya left.
I sighed and walked off into the living room, turning on my TV. After watching a bit of TV, it finally dawned on me.
"Wait.. did he just say that he'll see me soon?" I said outloud. "SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!" I yelled, never noticing that a specific raven haired man was on the other side of the door whose ears were pressed against it, smirking at my reaction.
