WHAT THE HELL, E.O.?
If you're wondering where I've been for the past few weeks, I've just kind of been having a minor breakdown. Well, breakdown's too strong of a word. But I've been confronting my increasing dissatisfaction with my writing and taken a break from all writing for the past month or so to reset (HA) everything.
It's been extraordinarily helpful; I've let myself daydream instead of ceaselessly plot, I've consumed a lot of media (Yuri!!! On Ice has been a WONDERFUL breath of fresh air), and I'm generally in a better place than I was a month ago! So that's all the good stuff that's come from this break.
Here's the less fun stuff I've had to confront since I've been gone: the current state of my Undertale fics.
Here are the facts:
* I've written about Undertale for about a year and a half straight. (Reset was started November 2015, but wasn't uploaded here until March 2016.)
*Not counting the one-shots I wrote for the 800 Follower Celebrastravaganza or the Ask Book, I've written just under 130,000 words for this fandom.
So, looking at both of those things, it's pretty clear to me that I'm just plain burned out. Something I did because it brought me joy is instead feeling like a chore, and that's the exact opposite of what I want to feel when I'm writing fanfiction. And, to be honest, "From War to Science" was never supposed to be a regularly updated fic, but I got so caught up in it that I couldn't stop until I needed to stop. It would have been more convenient if I'd burned out after finishing Part 3, but that rarely happens.
So, for now, everything Undertale-related is on the back burner. Which I get is frustrating and if you want to jump ship, I certainly won't stop you. "From War to Science" will be finished, as will "Family Beginnings," but at a much less consistent pace than what I've been doing. I have both stories plotted out up until the very end, but for now, I need a rest all my Undertale writing.
On the other hand, that doesn't mean I've abandoned this account. I've stretched my writing muscles with my recent YOI one-shot, and I've muscled through the first chapter of "Things Bright and Fine," which should get everything else moving along nicely.
But, at the moment, things will likely be quiet for a few more weeks. I've just gotten a new job (at the Disney Store wew lad), and my birthday's this month (which means everyone announcing that we need to go out to celebrate for the next two weeks), AND I'm travelling a decent amount this summer (I'm actually going to be getting on a plane in a little over 12 hours, haaa). But like I said, I'm crawling out of my slump slowly but surely, and soon enough things will be poppin' over at my Wattpad page, I promise.
THANK YOU ALL for your patience throughout my absence. You are all such lovely, lovely people, and I look forward to coming back and updating regularly!!!!
(The picture's Yuuri Katsuki from Yuri On Ice. I just drew some crappy blonde hair and eyelashes on him and changed up some of the colors, that's it.)
