What Is Your Experience?
Hi everyone, it's your cube that can somehow write.
I want to make my story "Broken Glasses" more diverse, not only in it's cast but into the plot as well. However, the internet can only do so much for my research. Then, seeing that I have a pretty big following, I decided to turn to my beloved readers to ask them my questions.
How this work will, well, work is that each chapter will be specific to a certain ethnicity. I will first ask some standard questions and then some specific questions. If it's your specific ethnicity, you can answer the question in the comment section - if you're comfortable doing so. I may also do some follow questions when replying to your comment.
Through this work, you may not only learn about different experience but you can also find other readers who have the same experience as you OR just interesting readers who have a different experience than yours! I love it when I see readers find out they're of the same ethnicity and want to talk more in private conversation. It makes me so happy and I want Wattpad to create more of this community.
Also, if you're a writer, PLEASE consider making your own work more diverse. I grew up reading books that just had a white cast that I WROTE books with a white cast. I never saw my culture mentioned in a book, I never saw MYSELF in a book. I didn't believe anyone would want to see it as well until I began mentioning certain cultures and saw how excited my readers became. Now that I'm writing my story, it's like a whole new world and I never want to leave it.
I expect everyone to be respectful of each other here. There may be some cultural clashes with differences in beliefs, but I want this work to not be some sort of next world war but a melting pot. I'm from Los Angeles where there are so many different cultures living there that I was introduced through their delicious food. Although this work isn't exactly an international food court, you should understand what my goal is.
The first few "chapters" will be for a couple of ethnicities I want to initially include in my book. However, I don't know everything and would want to learn about more ethnicities to consider adding it to my book. One reader commented said she is Egyptian which made me want to learn more about Egypt and find a way to make an Egyptian character!
So in this comment section here, please state your ethnicity and I'll try to create a chapter so you can talk about it. To make things more organized, if you see someone already mention your ethnicity, just reply "+1" so I can see that there are a lot of readers of that certain ethnicity who would love to share their culture.
Also, if you're a reader of "Broken Glasses" and see that in a particular region your country or ethnic group isn't mentioned, I hope that you're still happy that the representation was there. I would love to insert every single experience possible, but I want to make sure there are others being represented as well.
Now then, let's begin.
______
Edit:
This work was changed to include experiences to include gender, sexuality, and any other types of experiences.
