Chapter 15
I felt light headed from yelling. My face was red with rage at my former family member. The room was dead silent. The only sound was my heavy breathing from yelling. In the corner I heard a small cry. I noticed that Mabel was no longer in the circle but in the corner of the room.
"Listen to yourselves." Mabel said in a faint voice. "Your fighting when you should be working together."
"She's right." I admitted.
We all agreed with Mabel. She moved back into the circle.
"Okay everyone. Let's begin. First I will summon Bill. He will talk and taunt us, like usual. After he leaves our minds, it takes him thirty seconds to fully transport away. If we hold hands in those thirty seconds, we will kill him. Understand?" He said "The incompetent one in the room probably doesn't" he mumbled looking at Stan. He glanced at Mabel too, which made me mad. What did he have against Mabel?
"I understand, don't try to start riling everyone up again." Stan said angrily.
Ford lit candles around our circle. He started to say the incantations. An arch of black, white, and gray spread across the room, making it colorless. All the candles went out one by one. A blue fire immerged from the center of the circle. But to our surprise, Bill didn't come out of the fire. I heard the door open and slam closed. But know one was there. Than the window opened and shut. Than the fridge door, the microwave door, my suitcase, everything with a door. We were bracing our selves for Bill's final grand entrance. Everything suddenly stopped. The fire immerged from the center once more and showed a picture. It was a clock. The clock had a shooting star on it. I realized what that clock was for. And I didn't like it. It showed us that there was twelve hours to midnight. Twelve hours to Mabel's death. Twelve hours till I have no friends.
"You called!"Bill laughed "I told you, there is no cure. You have wasted your time." Bill's voice echoed through the room. "You failed Pine Tree. Like I always knew you would." His booming voice made my ears ring. We all heard his voice, bit couldn't see him.
"Show yourself!" I was having enough of his entrances.
"Fine! You were never the kind of kid to stay calm. Very hot headed." He said in an annoyed tone. All of a sudden my hat lifted up into the air with Bill coming out like a rabbit in a magic act. He jumped off my head and tossed my hat across the room. "You should really wash your hair more often." He suggested dusting off his hat.
I rolled my eyes. "Your time is limited. We finally won!" I grinned.
"Oh Pine Tree, you never learn! I told you I knew my fate. And you know, is killing me really a win. I know that you will forget about this victory, but not your sister. Don't think I didn't think this plan through! You've lost! I think I should play my bugle for your lost victory." He makes a bugle out of blue fire and starts playing that song that they play in the military when someone dies. Does he think this is funny. "Well I'll get out of your hair, literally for Pine Tree," he winked at me. I'm not sure if that was a blink. "We'll meet again! Don't know where, don't know when! Oh, I know we'll meet again some sunny day!" He sang. He snapped his fingers and the room regained it's color. I was wearing my hat and all the doors and windows were shut. Like nothing happened.
"Quick! Everybody stand up and join hands!" We followed command. We all glowed a baby blue. We heard Bill's trademark laugh echoed through the house. In the middle of the circle a portal appeared. It seemed like a dimension of fire. A triangular shaped shadow was being dragged to the portal. The shadow flew to the middle of the circle flat. Bill's eye lit up from his shadow.
"Thanks for the send off!" Bill said.
The shadow turned into Bill and flew into the fire below. The portal closed. It was over. He was gone.
