The night was anything but pleasant. Liu Huai Kuan spent the whole night taking care of Wang Zhuocheng, who kept throwing up and crying. Liu Huai Kuan could tell that he hadn't had much experience with the alcohol. But if he couldn't handle the alcohol why drank it? And in Gay bar at that. Huai Kuan was thinking countless possibilities, He even reached to the conclusion that it was his first time drinking it for the sake of experience. Somewhere near the dawn, Zhuocheng was able to sleep, even that thanks to Liu Huan Kuan's medicine. He himself was exhausted and slept next to Zhuocheng without thinking much.
Zhuocheng woke up to the ringing of his phone, he got up and threw his phone far away seeing it was Ji Li's call. His head was drumming loud and the sharp pain was making him cranky. He kept massaging his temple to ease the pain and he swore he would never even smell the abomination named Alcohol. After struggling for a while, he finally managed to gain his senses only to be shocked again. He was in an unknown place! In bath robes!
Dear Lord, punish me for I have sinned!
Zhuocheng tried to get up as quietly as possibly and only then he realized that there was a crazy handsome guy next to him - holding his hand. Zhuocheng lost all the colors to his face. There was immense fear filled in him and he abruptly got up. He lost his foot and fell flat on the ground with the thud. It woke the other guy and he got up to support him.
"Cheng are you okay?" Liu Huai Kuan asked and Zhuocheng slapped his hand away.
"I-I'm sorry. I-I need to go." Zhuocheng picked up his clothes from the floor and stumbled to the bathroom. Liu Huai Kuan was confused at his behavior first, then he realized that the younger kid probably misunderstood something. He was up already, so he decided to prepare breakfast for the two.
Zhuocheng on the other hand was terrified, endless possibilities crossed his mind. He checked his body and there were no marks. Then another scary thought came, what if he marked his body? He tried to remember what he said or did but it only intensified the pain in his head. He let the cold water run on his shell and prayed that it was nothing how he imagined. What would father and mother say? They sent him here to think how he fucked up not to literally fuck someone up.
He was so buried in his turmoil when he heard a knock on the door.
"Cheng are you alright?"
Another thought seeded his mind. How did the stranger know his name? Zhuocheng didn't reply and let the cold water numb his brain, he didn't know how long he stood there but he only came to his senses when he found the stranger inside the bathroom.
What?
"Oh I'm sorry. Y-you were not responding and I got scared." The stranger said and Zhuocheng only grabbed the towel to cover his body.
"You don't need to feel ashamed; I already saw it." The stranger said with a gullible smile.
That was not helping at all!
Wang Zhuocheng felt like fainting as he stumbled a little. Liu Huai Kuan stepped forward to help him and now he was getting wet under the shower, revealing his perfect body.
The situation kept making zhuocheng's blood go dry. And something else wet.
"Nothing happened Cheng!" The stranger continued when he saw how pale zhuocheng had become.
"You kept throwing up, I only helped you. Nothing else happened so relax!"
Wang Zhuocheng could breathe again. All the adrenaline finally settled down. Zhuocheng let himself fall and stranger caught him in his embrace. He carried him out of the bathroom and placed him on bed. Then quickly went to the bathroom and got towels to dry him. Zhuocheng had fainted from exhaustion and severe headache. Only after an hour or so, he regained his consciousness. He saw the stranger making something in the kitchen while humming a song. Coincidentally the stranger looked at him the same time and a wide smile formed on his face. Zhuocheng shifted his gaze, he was too much embarrassed already.
The stranger came forwards and gave him a glass of water.
"I'm sure your head must hurt a lot, but never take pills on empty stomach."
Zhuocheng nodded and silently drank the water. The stranger satisfied, went back to the kitchen.
"The breakfast would be ready in a minute. Or would it be lunch?" The stranger said and laughed to himself. Zhuocheng on the other hand just wanted to go back to his apartment. But he was fairly new to the country and didn't know the locations. He picked up his phone just to find it broken.
Thank you, lord of bad luck, I hope you enjoy my misery!
He was thinking of calling Ji Li and have him pick him up but looks like he was stuck with the fairy. The stranger settled the table and the aroma of food was making Zhuocheng's sleepy stomach very much awake.
"Come Cheng, let's have brunch." The stranger said with a smile. Zhuocheng only followed because he was extremely hungry.
"Thank you for the food." He said and dug in. It was so delicious that Zhuocheng didn't realize that he ate more than he should have.
"S-sorry I ate it all."
"It's no trouble at all. If you want, I can cook more."
Stranger reminded Zuocheng of his A-Jie. Nice and warm.
"That won't be necessary, thank you." Zhuocheng said.
"Um..I..can you take me to my apartment?"
"Of course, you don't know your way around here? Did you come here recently?"
Zhuocheng nodded. If Liu Huai Kuan had to be honest, he was never expecting to see Zhuocheng again. He had been in Japan for a long while, he rarely visited his family and only talked to Yibo- his brother.
"Alright, put this on." Liu Huai Kuan handed him, his clothes which were a bit bigger for Zhuocheng to be honest.
"No! I'm fine with what I have." Zhuocheng replied.
"Alright then, give me a moment to get dressed." The stranger really did take just a moment to get ready and the two headed out.
"Oh, you don't live that far from here." Liu Huai Kuan said when he looked at the apartment address. When they reached to his apartment, Zhuocheng bowed a thank you and dashed inside without ever looking back. Liu Huai Kuan found it cute.
He remembered the little Cheng who used to play with Yibo, near the Luo river. He also remembered the Cheng who was terrified when he saw lifeless body of Cici Liu being hit by their car in that storm. Maybe it's for the best that he doesn't remember him?
. . .
Zhuocheng was cursing himself throughout the week and he was ignoring Ji Li for putting him through that torture. Zhuocheng needed to call back home but his phone was broken and with little Japanese knowledge, he was stuck in the store not knowing what people were saying. He could pick up bits and pieces but he was still far from understanding the whole conversation.
"すみません。。。これ。。。いくらですか?"
Sumimasen...kore...ikura desuka?
(Excuse me, how much does it cost?)
Not that he had to worry about money, he thought the expensive ones would be better since he couldn't really tell about the brand differences.
"That one is no good." Came a voice and startled Zhuocheng. He looked behind only to find the fairy stranger with his usual mellow smile.
"W-what are you doing here?"
"I was just passing by and spotted you, you looked troubled. So, I decided to lend a hand."
"No need, I can manage just fine." Zhuocheng wasn't able to forget the embarrassment of that day and he preferred if he didn't see the stranger all of his life.
"Oh?" The mellow person was a little hurt and he clearly pouted. It was his nephew Pei Xin's fault that Zhuocheng couldn't say no to pouts.
"Fine, pick one quickly."
"Of course." The fairy stranger beamed and immediately pulled Zhuocheng to the stash of very eye-catching cells.
"This one is good." The stranger pointed at the phone. And Zhuocheng would be lying if he said he didn't like it. It had a purple colored frame with lotus pattern.
"Okay." Zhuocheng said and proceed to take the phone to the counter.
"Then we will match!" The stranger took out his phone and showed that he had the same model, the only difference was blue frame with clouds instead of purple.
"On second thought, I chose this one." Zhuocheng put the phone back and picked the one next to it.
"But Cheng..." The stranger whined but Zhuocheng already went towards the counter. Liu Huai Kuan sighed and gave in.
"You go ahead, Cheng. I'll be there in a minute."
Not that Zhuocheng wasn't expecting him to tag along, he just shrugged and payed for the phone. He was excited to reach to his family. Just when he was immersed in his thought, the stranger arrived with the biggest grin on his face.
Zhuocheng knew it was trouble and decided to scoot away
"Thank you Mr..?"
"Liu."
"Thank You Mr. Liu I will be heading home." Zuocheng stepped out when Liu Huai Kuan pulled him back and gave him a phone strap. It was a Lotus Flower pattern strap and Zhuocheng bulged his eyes. It was his favorite after all. He took it without thinking and smiled to himself, missing his family even more now.
"I could see you really liked the lotus flower."
Hearing this Zhuocheng immediately put his passive face on and continued his journey back home while the mellow person just stood there smiling.
. . .
It's been already 3 months in Japan and Zhuocheng was adjusting to life somehow. Although he was terribly missing his family. Ji Li invited him to his house in Japan to kill the time and Zhuocheng agreed. They made up shorty after the incident and Ji Li swore to never put Zhocheng in any awkward situation again. But Zhuocheng should've known that the friends are sent on Earth just to make your life miserable.
Seeing the person Liu in Ji Li's house, first made him think that he took the wrong turn but then again, he had seen his house he was sure it wasn't this one. The other person seemed as much shocked as him but quickly he recovered and welcomed him inside.
They haven't really acquainted much so Zhuocheng was still feeling a little awkward. Not in his entire life, he thought he would be praying just to see Ji Li's dumb face. And thank fully he arrived.
"ChengCheng!" He called and jumped straight onto Zhuocheng.
The mellow person stiffened a little but Zhuocheng didn't notice.
"Ji Li, how many times I told you to not be clingy?" Zhuocheng scolded.
"Who else would I cling to, Kuan gege?" Ji Li countered.
"Kuan gege?" Zhuocheng asked confused. Before Ji Li could answer Liu Huai Kuan cut him
"What would you like to drink Cheng?"
"Plain water."
"Wait, Cheng? You guys know each other?" Ji Li asked in confusion.
"Remember when you sold me out on that faithful night at the bar??" Zhuocheng said with full of sarcasm.
"Aiyo Aiyo, I apologized, already didn't I?" Ji Li said clasping his both hands together.
"What were you two doing in the gay bar?" Liu Huai Kuan asked. He was curious about it for the longest time.
"Ji Li dragged me there for research." Zhuocheng glared at Ji Li who only scoot inside the sofa, as if asking to be swallowed.
"How you two know each other?" It was Zhuocheng's turn to ask.
"Gege is friend with my Da ge since school." Ji Li revived.
"And why are you here?" Zhuocheng knew that Wang Yi Zhou wasn't home. Because only then Ji Li dared to call his friends, so what Liu was doing there?
"Gege comes on weekends to help me with my studies." Ji Li said and Zhuocheng was a little pissed at such development.
"If you were going to study, why did you call me here?"
"A-Li did inform me that his friend was coming over but I forgot and came here out of habit." Liu said.
Habits are only developed when you perform that activity often and the way he called his name only proved how close they were, Zhuocheng didn't know why but he felt a pinch on his heart.
"Let's go to my room." Ji Li sensed the angry aura around Zhuocheng and invited him to his room. Ji Li showed him his newest collection of porn and Zhuocheng thought he would have learnt by now.
"Are you serious about pursuing this field?"
"I want to be Echi Manga Artist!" Ji Li said with full of determination. Something Zhuocheng never thought he would see.
"Does your brother approve of this?"
"He just pretends to be angry. For the sake of my dream, He left his everything in china and settled us here. The first few years were really hard but he pulled through and now I can not give up either, for sake of his sacrifices."
ZhuoCheng was not expecting an emotionally honest answer.
"Alright, I will support you fully." Zhuocheng said and ruffled the younger's hair.
And exactly at that moment, Liu Huai Kuan entered with refreshments. He was acting too friendly and Zhuocheng didn't like it one bit. Liu Huai Kuan left the youth to enjoy their time. After spending the after noon wasting time with Ji Li. Zhuocheng decided to call it a day and when he stepped out, he was surprised to find Liu still there.
"Ah Cheng! Are you done?"
"Why are you still here?" Not that it was his place to ask, Zhuocheng couldn't help but get annoyed.
"I was waiting for you. I thought we could go back together. Since we live pretty close." The mellow person smiled like dynamite.
Zhuocheng's previous anger disappeared and he allowed himself to be taken by the man.
In Liu's car, Zhuocheng didn't say anything just silently looked out of the window. It's not that he was antisocial. He was extremely self-conscious whenever Liu was involved.
"Cheng, did you manage to familiarize yourself with this place?"
"Mn."
"That's good to hear."
"Mn"
Without realizing, Zhuocheng ventured into the land of dreams in his car. He felt something warm brushed against his cheek and his lips curled into a smile.
