It happened 10 years ago, on January 1st, 2050.

They finally found us.

We'd been hiding for years, constantly replacing and modifying the signal deflector shield around our planet so that they wouldn't see us on their radars. So that they wouldn't destroy us.

But we all knew it wouldn't last forever. I lost everything, my friends, my family, my home, nearly even my will to live. I was the only one left alive in my whole town. One of the very few survivors scattered around our world.

And we didn't know why we lived.

The dead might call us lucky, since we still have beating hearts and blinking eyes. We're still alive. But we're not living. No, it hurts so much more than death itself to watch everything you love experience it.

Then they found us. Our mangled souls trapped in dying bodies. Us, or at least, what was left of us.

We were taken aboard their ship, taken hostage. We're prisoners. Why? Because they don't understand why the hell we didn't die with the rest of our planet. They don't understand why we're still standing.

We're misplaced, misfits. We don't have reason to be breathing, but here we are. Somehow my chest keeps rising and falling. My heart keeps beating and pumping.

I guess we're just too weak to live, but at the same time, we're far too strong to die.

They call us Hybrids.
