Prologue

~ Adam's POV ~

"Are we sure this is going to work Adam?" Ty asked softly as he gazed through his vision  portal, a portal that can only be seen from one side and allows the opener to she what's going on on the other side, but the opener cannot  send things through. He watched the girl who most acted like him, one of the eight girls who we were relying on. "I mean, I don't doubt them, but, not even we know what's going on here."

"That's exactly why we have to rely on them. We don't know what's going on, and, though they don't either, they can make sense of how the world works now. They understand modern technology and knowledge. They know where things are and what has happened while we were gone. We know how to use our powers, and we can assist them in ways that others cannot. We need each other. Besides, whether this works or not, it's our only choice that won't take at least five more centuries to accomplish, and we don't have five more centuries," I replied, opening a vision portal to see my own female counterpart, who was spinning around in a wheel chair while doing math homework.

"Adam, yours is eleven years old," Jason whispered.

"Well, an eleven year old is easier to work with instead of a one hundred year old. She's also  flexible, fast, strong, and clever. She also has pretty good leadership skills. She may be young, but she won't be suspicious of us like most adults would be. She'll know who we are, and she'll know why we're here. I like her," I told my team, watching as Jason's counterpart ate breakfast with her family.

"Mine appears to be part cat," Ian stated bluntly.

"But she likes cake! She's just like you! She's perfect!" joked Mitch, who was observing as  his female counterpart, Nini, suffer through her reading homework.

"Ok Mitch, what you're doing is called stalking," Jerome sighed.

"No, this is for scientific researchy purposes! I need to know her weaknesses and stuff. I wanna do it, Ian can handle his own counterpart!" Mitch grinned cheekily.

"Her weaknesses should be the same as yours," Quentin rolled his eyes before he returned to  watching his counterpart blow up things in a video game.

"Well I mean technically we're all stalking someone," Mitch defended himself. "Plus I'm tryna save the world here."

"She  sure acts like you," Seto, changing the subject, noted as he nodded towards Quentin's counterpart, Hapy. Quentin smirked as Hapy punched a guy in the video game.

"Yeah, that's something I would do," he laughed.

"Why did  you get the water ability? It's so ironic, seeing as you love to blow stuff up all the time," Ian tagged in as his  counterpart, Meowki, stared at her phone late at night.

"Ian does your counterpart have Insomnia too?" I asked.

"I don't know, but that would actually be helpful in our situation," he answered.

"I think mine does," I said, nodding to my counterpart, Fish.

"Your counterpart's name is Fish. I think the universe messed up and she was supposed to be  Quentin's," Jerome snickered as his counterpart tackled a pillow.

"I'm not a fish. It would have been worse if she was your  counterpart though," Quentin growled. Jerome hid his giggling quietly and continued to stare at his vision portal.

"Man, I miss being alive," Jason sighed.

"Yeah no shrimp Sherlock," Ian retorted with strong sass. Smiling at the other members of my team, I thought about everything we've been through and everyone we've fought, wondering if this was really going to work. Can it? Can it work? We haven't fought anything in centuries, and these girls haven't fought anything ever. Can it work?

~ Fish's POV ~

Is someone watching me? I feel like someone's watching me, but no one's even in the house...  Glancing around, I couldn't even find a camera in the house, so, my homework finished, I texted my best friend, Kadence, to ask her if she wanted to come over. After I plugged my phone back in, I walked to the kitchen to make myself some buddered toast. Looking out the window at the bright autumn colors, I sighed happily. I'm glad that I live in Washington, it's just so beautiful here.

Only a moment after I finished my toast, Kadence replied to my text saying that she's be there here in ten minutes. Taking a moment to reply, I looked out the window just in time to see a pair of beautiful yellow eyes fade away. After shaking my head to get rid of what seemed to be a hallucination, I quickly texted Kadence to be careful on her way here because I'm pretty sure I just saw a stalker, grabbing my bright pink Hello Kitty baseball bat that always made sure that the last thing my victims see before they pass out is the adorable, sweet, horrifying, unforgiving face of Hello Kitty.

That was when my phone buzzed on the counter in front of me.

"OMG WHAT? CAN I BRING A BASEBALL BAT AND PRETEND THAT I'M IN A HORROR MOVIE?? I ALWAYS WANTED TO DO THIS!! Well. Not really. But now I want to." Kadence had texted me quickly, causing me to laugh a little.

"Gurl what u think I'm doing rn? Playing MC? I got a BRIGHT PINK HELLO KITTY BASEBALL BAT THAT WILL MAKE ALL I MEET REGRET THEIR DECISIONS!!!11!" I texted back.

"K I'll b right there." Kadence replied quickly. I sighed, setting down my phone and gripping my baseball bat, as I felt the sudden urge to where sunglasses, which is weird because I'm indoors. Shrugging it off and thinking that it would be funny to randomly answer the door with sunglasses on, I ran upstairs to my room to snatch a pair of sunglasses. Now paranoid, I snapped my head around, only to see that there was nothing out of the ordinary.

Shaking my head rapidly as to clear my thoughts, I refocused on finding my shades when my eyes landed on a dark grey pair of sunglasses under my mirror. Those aren't mine... Mom doesn't wear shades, and Dad keeps his expensive shades in a special case in his room...  I thought to myself, still staring at the sunglasses. Walking over to the object, I gently picked them up and looked them over. Well, they're nice sunglasses. I'll give 'em that. I said to myself as I looked into the mirror to put them on. However, the shock caused by my reflection almost made me drop the sunglasses.

A light skinned man with dark, thick, brown curls, and electrifying budder eyes was staring back at me with a small smile. His clothes were all different shades of grey and we wore a budder and purple amulet around his neck as a finishing touch. He waved at me, though I hadn't moved my hands. I waved back gingerly before I reached up to run a hand through my hair, finding that it was still my rather long, thick, smooth, straight, dark brown locks, but I noticed that the male in the mirror did not copy any of my actions. Suddenly, I recognized him.

"A-Adam D-Dahlberg?" I whispered. He smiled widely before I felt a strong force of something enter my body, specifically my brain. My mouth opened without me telling it to or wanting it to and spoke in a voice that definitely was not mine.

"You got that right!"
