The River's Song
The ferryman hums a mournful tune,
As waters lap the shore,
The souls he carries to their end,
Can never ask for more.
Yet in his boat, a child weeps,
Her eyes like shattered glass,
For what she lost, she cannot say,
But knows she cannot pass.
So onward flows the endless stream,
The current swift and deep,
The river sings of life and loss,
And secrets it must keep.
